They made a comment on the bikes appearance not the performance and i have to say, i agree with the Times...the bike does look rather old fashioned.

If you'd scrolled to the foot of that times page and accessed the comments, you'd see comments on the subject. If you then clicked "See all comments" you then see a comment from one James Ross, and it was that which Tim and I were referring to. It was clearly rubbish, recommending a junk Chinese bike as better than the Kalkhoff, clearly another trader's planted comment. Here it is to save you looking it up:
"Hi I would like to say that the Kalkhoff has been awful in my opinion, and 2 of my friends have had the same problem with the batteries failing and then getting very hot.
I eventually went with an EBullet from the friendly chaps at the electric transport shop and the quality is much better.
I would advise anyone looking at electric bikes to find a supplier that has several models that you can browse and try before you buy.
