I am no fool, I will be checking him out thoroughly and the bike ;) Is there an index anywhere of stolen bikes, oh and has anyone got a smart water reading light I could borrow :D
Smart eBiker - I don't think many people would call insinuating that a respected trader is selling stolen goods on a forum is a normal part of 'due diligence'. Members of longer standing on here have shared David's reputation in the industry with you, in case you were unaware, which in your replies you are choosing to ignore - that is of course your choice but please do not imply he is selling stolen goods while you do your 'due diligence'. This is not in the spirit of this forum.

I was really giving the OP the benefit of the doubt. It seems I was mistaken.
Doubt about what?

Doubt about being a genuine purchaser who is diligent and should be great example to others? You may be 100% honest David, but that doesn't put you above anyone wanting to check what they are buying from, it is dangerous to start telling people they should trust forum references from people they don't know or have not met, you should be supportive in due diligence being done on ALL bike parts and bike purchases!

You have thrown your toys out if the pram because I am doing the right thing in checking you out, I was calling you this morning to arrange to come down and see you today about buying the bike. I took the money out of the cash machine last night I was that close to ticking my due diligence boxes, it would have been seeing you and chatting to you that would have made my mind up if you and the bike were genuine or not and completing the purchase.

Who has thown their toys out of the pram!!?

You seem to find it very easy to offend people. I genuinely was taking you at face value.

Maybe you should take heed of the Forum moderator's advice?

Kind regards, David

I AM NOT saying he is selling stolen goods, I am checking out who he is and the item he is selling, I had no idea who he is, I am getting the picture now but that was through me checking things out.

Please clarify your position in that if anyone is buying something from a respected dealer they should NOT carry out due diligence and ensure what they are buying is as it should be and just trust them. Please also clarify what constitutes a respected dealer so we all know.

Please would you read my posts regarding doing you due diligence discreetly?

Thanks!

Kind regards, David

There's a difference between what you call due diligence and your inference of selling stolen goods.

If you can't see that then that explains many of your "non smart" comments. I personally find your fixations amusing, I find your inference crass!y offensive. I think Admin has made the point very clearly, so may I suggest you cease your inference and apologise and we can move on. If you feel you have nothing to apologise about then perhaps you should find a different forum to work D up with your fixations.

I'll clarify my position here - whatever your buying process you do not use potentially libellous, most certainly inflammatory remarks on here. Thread now locked.
