Two rear wheel punctures within 7 weeks. If you can top this record i will send you £20 towards fixing your next puncture.

My recent puncture took place last night and thanking GOD again it just had happend after exiting a mini roundabout luckily no cars were around, ten seconds later i heard "BANG". People's head had turned but not even one came to my rescue due to several reasons, because it was pouring down with rain and at the same time i could hear their thoughts clearly saying that i am a lazy cheat anyway.

I then had rung up for a cab, which costed me £25 to get back home, and not forgetting the first time that had also set me back £30. I'm strongly concidering hiring a taxi to travel behind me to wherever i go and for piece of mind.

Mountainsport. I LOVE YOU ALL,WHAT WOULD I'VE DONE WITHOUT YOU BESIDES RINGING FOR A CAB OR TAXI.

Schwalbe Land Cruisers are rated puncture resistant, but I got a nasty thorn through mine, on the back wheel, at the same time one went through the Kenda trekking tyre on the front. :(

Made me late meeting the missus, too.

Came down one of the peaks after local hedge trimming . I picked up 12 thorns in the back tyre .
Had slime in tube, just lost a bit of pressure.

I always tend to find that punctures come in twos. I can go months with no punctures then get two (in different parts of my commute) in the same week.

Although I could use "fully" puncture resistant tyres I prefer more light weight options (but usually with some kind of kevlar strip) given that I have to carry my bikes.

I have become quite proficient and can change a tube (I never repair punctures on the road side) in five to 10 mins.

Jerry

I had a punctures in both wheels at the same time. The front one went down, so we fixed it, and I was just about to ride off when I noticed the back one was a bit flat, so we had to fix that one too.

The last time (a couple of weeks before Xmas), I broke all records by having 6 punctures simultaneously - four in the front and two in the back. It started with a slow front puncture in the front. As I was a fair way from home with only a pump, I decided to pump it back up and see how far I could go. The first time it lasted about 20 minutes, but each time I pumped it up, it lasted less time, until the last time I was pumping like mad when I noticed that the back one was down. Then I had no choice but to call for help. The front one was a thorn, and each time the tyre went flat, the tube positioned itself differently so that it got punctured again in a different place. One of the back pubctures was a thorn, but no explanation for the other one, which was far away from the first. Both of these occasions were witnessed by Saneagle, who thankfully was able to help me both times.

Not the same, but how about three punctures on a just under six mile trip?

First puncture at about a mile and half in the n/s trailer wheel. Repaired. Second puncture in the bike front wheel at the destination, about three miles away. Repaired. Third puncture in the trailer o/s wheel on the return journey at about four miles. Repaired.

All were caused by broken glass shards.

Forget the £20 just send me a pack of inner-tubes. At the time, we bought a 5 pack to share between us from Halfords and they were all used up within a week. I don't normally get punctures, but when it rains, it pours.

Sorry flecc,

I thought that d8veh had topped the record until reading yours but,i've never known anyone to ride a trailer,a bike yes, so d8veh+Saneagle are still up on top.

Now,my main problem flecc is where do i categorise your misfortune in the guinness book of world records?

I reckon most of us would have thought twice before riding over that broken glass three times in one journey

Not much choice at the time. There was a bottle smashing craze among the youngsters over a wide local area, which took the form of seeing how effectively one could be broken into the largest number of small pieces. The acknowledged champion was a 13 year old lad named Mason, I still know him though he is a 21 year old now whose transgressions are mainly riding unregistered motorbikes and quad bikes without crash helmets. He does have a moped licence, and also stainless steel plates joining his left thighbone and left and right forearm bones after various accidents! Never bumped his unprotected head though.

Land Cruisers don't have the same level of punture resistance as the Marathon Plus which come in 3 flavours. Schwalbe aslo produce an e-bike range E-Bike, but these also don't have the same pucture resistance as MP.

Coo - that seems a bit draconian - He must have trouble getting to the handlebars, with that lot joined up

Web avoidance of tediously long ways of expression. :)

Just as well I don't use textspeak which could produce even more meanings!

That`s why it is essential to keep throttles , walk or run alongside and use the throttle .It worked very well with a Honda 50 in the 60`s for me and if I should ever get a puncture in the Batribike Folder , it would be my way of getting home . Of course I suppose I could always ` phone a friend ` .

Walk alongside throttles are legal in both the UK and the EU, so those will always be available on e-bikes. Legally they can operate to 4 mph / 6kph, which is plenty.
