one MP in our corner of the world has a simple idea how to deal with the small boats and migrants in general. They should be given temporary NHS and national insurance number as soon as they claim refugee status. Let them find work and build a life.
Later, when their case is looked at, those managed to get established get given more favourable consideration.

Were Laura K. and the BBC responsible for brexit?

"What they got was a journalist with access to the upper reaches of the Government, with a determination to get on air and tell everyone the whispers that she had heard from ministers, advisors and officials - before Sky or ITN," said Howse.

He continued: "What the BBC needed was someone who could take a step back, away from the scrum, and tell audiences when they were being lied to.

"That was something neither the BBC nor Kuenssberg has ever come to terms with."

He added: "It began with the Leave campaign making lying a central part of its strategy during the Brexit referendum.

"The BBC's response was to 'balance' these lies with information from the other side - rather than using their editorial judgement to call out when something was blatantly and dangerously false."
what do you think?

No. I don't agree with this:

"He added: "It began with the Leave campaign making lying a central part of its strategy during the Brexit referendum.

"The BBC's response was to 'balance' these lies with information from the other side - rather than using their editorial judgement to call out when something was blatantly and dangerously false."

The BBC didn't only produce balance, they repeatedly confronted the worst of the lies, for example Boris Johnsons insistence on the £350 millions a week was tackled head on and uncompromisingly by more than one of their journalists.

They even repeated a notorious pre Brexit interview of Johnson which exposed his whole long history of lying for personal advantage from schooldays onwards.

There was no problem with the BBC's handling of Bre xit. There certainly was the problem of some 50% of the public having an anti-EU attitude inculcated by decades of government EU blaming lies, resulting in them wanting out, regardless of any truths.

They and the government got what they richly deserved, an extended future of greater poverty and problems.

did you watch Laura K.'s 'State of chaos'?
Although I am already aware of all the events, the review puts events into a logical chain, is still well worth watching.

I suppose we'll end up with a soft brexit next year when Starmer is PM. Who knows, we may even join schengen and nobody is going to use rubber boat.
BTW, I watch YT a lot but not European politics, mainly AI news and astronomy.

Europe, including GB, has a problem with low birth rates and excessive public borrowing. How are you going to sort them out without migrants?

Don't suppose there will be any revelations, but we can always hope.
their venture lasted less than I expected. They sort of delivered the brexit they wanted but could not and did not change the quietly pro EU majority in parliament.
