And Johnson's grand claims for British Volt appear to be headed for the scrap heap.

Not just the Guardian - the FT had a big article but I cannot access it.

Whatever actually happens, the attitude and incompetence shown by LT and KK has fatally undermined them. And this morning's local radio interviews didn't help.

It is all very well procaliming belief. But it is the irrational belief that is akin to religion they are showing. Not the belief based on sound argument and open to change with circumstances and seeing effects. Maybe, on occasion, both come to the same conclusion about an issue. But religion and politics are very bad bedfellows.
I think we've been infltrated at the highest levels of government by the Kwasiest USA neocons. Seriously, this sort of railing against the "Economic orthodoxy" is precisely the drivel they emit - I'd much rather see the Green's total upset of the economic system than this madness - humanity would survive longer.

That's Chris Philp, MP for Croydon South, adjacent to my ward, a prize twerp.

Thankfully I have a Labour MP, Sarah Jones, who kicked another Tory prize twerp out of office, Gavin Barlow who then became Theresa May's advisor in number 10. That didn't go well either!
.
truss has hired Andy's previous media advisor
Phew, for a moment I was worried there, but this should sort things

Firefox with Javascript disabled defeats the FT paywall - I can read it, can't see the paywall

That's interesting - it depends where the clicks originate from - if you Google news with the terms "Liz Truss orthodoxy" and click the FT link, this article is visible... but if you click the link above (which is the same URL), it disappears behind a paywall... same with that first article.

Stable finance? Stable door finance - locked after bolted horse.

Liz Truss will hold emergency talks with the head of Britain’s independent fiscal watchdog after failing to dampen panic in the financial markets or shore up support from Tory MPs on her radical economic plan.
In a highly unusual move, the prime minister will meet the Office for Budget Responsibility’s (OBR) Richard Hughes on Friday, along with her chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, before being presented with a first draft of its full fiscal forecasts next week.

One government insider said the OBR meeting was “like trying to read the manual after you’ve broken the thing” after last week’s announcement of sweeping tax cuts triggered investor panic over the future health of the UK economy, prompting a sharp fall in the value of the pound and driving up government borrowing costs.

Time for Charlie Boy to step in and make a hero of himself by dissolving parliament
seems that task will fall on the obr
"bean counters holding the economy back" that truss refused to meet before, kwasi refused to consult before mini budget. have to hand it to Truss, in massive screeching u turns (meeting with the obr who say they will consider "govt's role in crisis", assess "market credibility" of the mini budget) and torpedoing conservative party she truly is becoming boris' spiritual successor. cannot begin to imagine how vindicated brexit voters must feel about her coming through on all that was promised.

"bean counters holding the economy back"
If you don't count your beans, you have no idea how many beans you have.

It is easy, and all too often appropriate, to criticise those who do that job. And the narrow focus (make every cost you can an externality, etc.). But we do need those numbers otherwise we cannot know if we have enough beans, or you have more than you need.

Liz and Kwasi should know, they are both already "have beens".
.
To be fair to truss and kwasi, they are delivering on what was always the true promise of brexit: asset stripping the local economy (collapsing the property market, cutting taxes and govt services) to benefit offshore multinationals and funds of wealthy individuals.
