as long as our election is based on first past the post system, Labour needs to be a broad church to win power. That means that Starmer has to appeal to all the remainers, all the Scottish anti-independence, all the Marxists, all the unionists etc. all those in the middle who don't want BJ and a conservative government.
BJ does not have to do a thing until all the socialist corbynites accept Starmer as one of theirs.
Agreed but they never will. He, s viewed as Blair lite... Who was Tory lite. All a mess. Started by Blair... I think Momentum was simply the over reaction to balance out Blair, unfortunately even now the ramifications still keep Labour out of contention... And I do agree with Flecc, re Scottish Labour but that just adds to the issues.

Thank you .. arm feels as if I came off the bike at speed and landed on shoulder. But that will pass.
I do that every other week anyhow... Got bruises and x rays to prove.. Takes longer to mend as well these days..

Still buying the "boris the good hearted buffoon" routine, huh? Bit like believing he gives tax breaks to tory donors to help the uk. As anyone and their dog know the indian variant often defeat the pfizer jab (as in israel)
I’ve only checked briefly, but I’m pretty sure your reply bears no relation whatsoever to my original post. I’ll check again later just to confirm.

Yes, our politics is all about popularity, expedience. Focus groups. The lowest common denominator. It's how an amoral twat like boris with a big red bus and false promises swindled his way in. And why starmer is doing a blair lite. This kind of merry go round usually only end with a black Wednesday or Falluja or I'd have thought the tory massacre over the pandemic. But evidently the average conservative voter is made of more self interested stuff and need a bigger wake up call

I tried that once. Ended up with a garage full of Austin Metros... Still fecking worthless.
Like almost all our motor industry's models back then. Even Ford produced turkeys, do you remember this original Ford Capri, not the fashionable 1970/80s one but before that. Built on the Anglia base so the wheels miles inboard:

I think they tried the 2 litre V4 in that, which has to be worst of both worlds... Early Capri certainly had V4.... A perfectly out of balance engine... Don't think you could design an engine with worse natural balance than that old Ford V4..??? Was a shocking engine...

I had the misfortune to own one of these, the V4 2 litre model

It had the handling of a fast jelly, and the final insult (apart from the speedo suddenly deciding to read 70mph when doing thirty, was when I went out one winter morning turned the ignition key and there was a strange high pitched shriek from the engine bay
We stripped it down at the weekend to find that the starter ring had fallen off the flywheel and the starter gear pinion chewed some teeth off when it got trapped against the casing.
Ah well another visit to the scrap yard initially to get spared, and then to let them pick the car up and scrap it as things were even worse than we though when we got the engine out.

Having previously had years in the trade as a motor mechanic I managed to avoid all the turkeys. My own Ford at that time was the Cortina GT with the crossflow in-line four engine, bought new for £860 at the same time as my flat, though that cost a little more at £4150.

At the time I was skint but had just switched banks and the new bank manager could hardly have been more obliging.

Mairead is our local person.. Actually from the next town 15 miles away. She would have been the local MEP for a number of elections. . . I did warn a number of weeks ago, that bluff and bluster would no longer suffice. Her degree was in Agricultural economics and she has also been a very capable presenter reporter of Agricultural Science programs .. Which is much more mainstream here than in the UK.
