Could be Flecc. But can you imagine the furore if Johnson had had a very relaxed attitude to lockdown etc and we, d had 150k deaths... Or even the ones we, ve had.
I can't see how a more relaxed attitude could have saved lives, but you are right the cost would have been less..
I really think we have lots to learn with Covid..its going to take a decade and by then perhaps the next "new" virus will have struck.
that strategy would rely on the element of luck.
Imagine the Kent variant as dangerous as the Brazilian P1.
I learnt how to deal with Covid-19 last year, practiced it and preached it, but then got savagely criticised and insulted in here for that. Meanwhile our government and experts got it completely wrong.

Now their latest advice in TV ads is a complete reversal of that they were saying and they are now at long last giving the right advice to a limited but still insufficient extent.

To explain once again:

Government and expert advice was Stay at Home and only exercise in the immediate vicinity. They even locked parks, introducing fines and setting the police on us if we dared to do different. That could not have been more wrong. We are social animals and accordingly staying at and around home meant socialising and proximity even more than usual, all in our crowded virus laden housing areas.

The right advice was what I practiced and preached back then and ever since, sod the law, hop into your car and drive out into the countryside to enjoy the fresh clean virus free air and virus free surfaces that's there. Or walk or cycle there if you can. Not only for exercise, as often as you like and for as much lazing about as you like and sod the rules. Even socialising in the countryside is far less dodgy than in your home area, since the other sensible people there are far less likely to be loaded with the virus. Even a crowded beach can be safer than your home area which doesn't enjoy a fresh clean breeze off of the sea.

You amused me Zlatan each time I gave the Swedish example, since each time you went on about their space and use of their countryside, thus unwittingly agreeing with me!

And now a year too late our dumb government and their experts are finally agreeing, with their advertised advice to get out into the fresh air of the country etc. All they need to do now is tell the police chiefs that Covid is nothing to with them and also cancel all existing fines with refunds where necessary. An admission that government got it wrong and many of these so called offenders were right all along.

And Woosh, luck is at the core of any anti-Covid social strategy, there is no absolute certainty, only the best possible odds which my strategy gives.

The above is the outline of my principles for personal dealing with Covid, but I also have supporting sound evidence.

Agree with that flecc but what about football matches, working, going to pub, socialising and kids going to schools.
Going for a run at lunchtime won't stop anyone getting it sat next to an infected person all afternoon..
Think you, ll find I agreed with those sentiments to a point all along. I posted link to an investigation that showed no one had caught covid on a beach, no matter how packed...??
I, d guess lots of us are in a position to keep ourselves safe. I, d just windsurf every day.... Miles from anyone... But we don't all have that luxury. How does daughter in fire service not mix with victims of fires, accidents and such... Same for Police, health service, nurses, and millions of others.

You are misusing sentience, which is ability to feel emotions etc. Nothing to do with reasoning, which is appropriate for your posts.
Using big words is usually a sign of thick people trying to look clever, using them wrongly just shows them to be misinformed into bargain.
Said the man who consistently misspells big words
Yes, right!

Stop making yourself look silly. You aren't really. You just make daft statements and then feel obliged to justify them.
You simply can't just count the number of infections and say highest is the worst affected. It's a bit more complicated than that OG..
But, I agree situation in Brazil could be far far worse than ours, but not for reasons you suggest. I suspect many countries are under reporting, but we, ve discussed that. You were probably napping.
So you are agreeing and disagreeing at one and the same time.
That's not new is it?

Its all about proximity and duration . Getting onto the beach is wonderful.. and most times here the sand or mud stretch out 4km , but while I am just 300metres from it, the person coming from inland is an hour away, and then needs a coffee and a toilet ..

the option of doing nothing/let nature take its course had to be ruled out because of the NHS. Everyone has the right to treatment. See what happens when you let care home residents die.
Our hospitals couldn't cope with various mitigation strategies resulting in 3 lockdowns.
My personal view is that the European league table in Covid deaths is the same as healthcare provision.
Germany has better healthcare system compared to ours, they consequently have fewer deaths.

They balance out, the fresh air, physical and mental freedoms versus the disadvantages of crowds and social venues. That is what Sweden taught us, swings and roundabouts; leading to similar death rate results, but not costing £400 billions, a wrecked economy and seriously damaged educations. After the same bad starts, they got it right, we got it very seriously and expensively wrong and will pay for that for decades.

As I posted, I was speaking only of the best way to have personally dealt with Covid. There was also the valid medical side such as mask wearing and advice on distancing, but there should never, ever have been threats or enforcement like fines since they are utterly stupid, getting peoples backs up just when their willing co-operation is most needed.

At least I know what the words mean. You hadn't a clue what " sentience" meant.
You thought they started with capital letters and ended with a full stop. And, I have an excuse. English is my second language. What's your excuse? Oh, yes of course, mad as a fish.

Ah well back to the juvenile insults, that sort of behavior rather proves my point about your lack of sentience
"Sentience is the capacity to be aware of feelings and sensations. "
Something you notably lack

Propoganda seems to be your first Language.
Which may explain why you can't spell it, and frequently used a comma instead of an apostrophe.

My excuse for errors? old age, what's yours?

I tried to reply to your post it had disappeared
"
"Yep, I told you that.. You had to look it up tho.. Your earlier post shows your understanding of the word.. "

Hilarious! "yep, tho.. " really?
And this
". Your earlier post shows your understanding of the word.. "

Thank you for confirming that fact, but is that what you really meant to say?

At least you realised your mistake and deleted the post.
I thought I was having trouble with the system as it wouldn't let me quote directly
Never mind it was only a bit of fun anyway. :D

Snow and ice alert - which we get little enough of in the real winter months, let alone April.

Shouldn't the sweet showers be piercing the drought of March to the root?

People are still moaning about vaccination passports. The latest non story concerns them creating a two tier society. Of course that will be the outcome, that’s the whole point and it’s highly desirable. In one group you will have vaccinated people who can go to places and do things, and in the other group you will have bell-ends who must keep out of the way. Splendid.

Seems Channel 4 had something to do with rumour about stopping AZ for under 30s.
MHRA have issued a statement simply saying its use will be continued..

Ferguson again???
Risk posed to under 30s by Covid and not the vaccine risk is salient point here.
What is death rate for under 30s? 1 in 20,000??

Article this morning about a Philipino chap went to fetch water for his family but during curfew (6pm to 8am I think), guards caught him and he died during punishment. And idiots here moan about loss of freedoms a "vaccine passport" would bring.
How on earth does a vaccine passport infringe your freedom. It doesn't at all.

The death rate for under 30s isn't the only thing that needs to be factored in. There is also the even less certain impact of mutations such in Brazil. Using data based on what we have seen so far likely underestimates the danger of the virus.

Channel 4? That explains a fair bit.

For a moment, I thought it was a serious article, but now I know it’s a Channel 4 production....

The Pilipino chap puts it into perspective. Weak, pathetic and feeble people here moaning about their own choice not to be vaccinated meaning they can’t do a few things. They should be given a good clubbing, then they might have something to get upset about.
