My wife has these two tablet on her prescription for D3
2 tablets daily Adcal-D3® Chewable Tablets
Calcium carbonate (1500 mg) and vitamin D3 (400 I.U.)
And 1 tablet daily
Colecalciferol 800 IU is the equivalent of 20 micrograms vitamin D3,

I wonder why she needs so much and this is a repeat prescription
The calcium is very important fir women.. who lose bone mass .

Apparently, the new vaccination centres will be working 12 hours per day. Why not 24 hours per day? This could almost double the vaccination rate.
If they did that they would rapidly run out of vaccine. From what I can gather listening to people who are actually doing the vaccinating and to health ministers, the constraining factor is not how many people we have doing the vaccinating. The problem is the amount of vaccine there is available in the country.

If we went flat out right now we would probably run out of all available supplies in less that a week, can you imagine how that would look for the Government. All these big vaccination centers standing idle with no vaccine available to give out.

I read a report today about Israel, they have been crafty, they have used most of their available supply extremely quickly and got a lot of people injected. They have then gone to Pfizer and said we will provide you with all our data so that you can see the effects of the vaccine on a large population. Not just tens of thousands, but millions, but in return can you give us a lot more of your vaccine. I am not sure if Pfizer are going to play ball with them and agree to give them more vaccine.

Every country is trying to get hold of as much vaccine as they possibly can, I am sure all kinds of shady deals are taking place.

If someone starts out with OK bone mass, what causes that loss of bone mass?

Obviously, adequate calcium needs to be present within the bones, within the body. But, unless we fully understand the processes which result in weakening bones, we won't know the full set of factors that is required. Just consuming calcium compounds isn't sufficient. And might even be counter-productive.

One example, someone had bone density test prior to being prescribed a thyroid hormone medicine called liothyronine. The reason being the consultant was concerned as too much thyroid hormone, especially if supplied as liothyronine, has been claimed to cause loss of bone mass. (Or it might be the reduction in another hormone, TSH which almost inevitably occurs when liothyronine is taken.) Some time later, at a repeat test, bone mass had actually improved.

Few medics would have expected or predicted that outcome. Which, I feel, helps to emphasise the inadequate understanding.

The need for magnesium is often overlooked.
Interestingly, low dietary magnesium intake in the current study was associated with an increase in bone resorption (CTx-1) over two years and dietary magnesium was a predictor of change in bone resorption. Similar to our findings, New et al. [42] found a negative association between bone resorption markers excretion and dietary magnesium intake in post-menopausal women. In addition, low serum magnesium levels have been implicated in low bone strength and low magnesium levels were found in women with low bone density [43]. The importance of dietary magnesium in maintaining BMD may be attributed to its role in skeletal acid-base balance [42]. Our findings on the potential role of dietary magnesium in bone health together with those of others are compelling and warrant further investigation.

I think one of the bottlenecks for us is the filling of the vials. We have just one facility in the U.K. which is located in Wrexham. It has been there for years. Unfortunately, it’s not been geared up for the coronavirus vaccine and it will take a minimum 12 months to increase capacity.

Some report suggested females tend to be gentler with their bodies, it's argued repititive jolts from running and jumping around in your mid/early life help promote higher bone density in later
Those martial art experts who smash things with their hands are reckoned to have extremely dense bone structure in hands which has developed over years of... hammering their hands against logs...
If you want to maintain bone density into your old age... Jump around... Go mountain biking and jump last couple of steps on stairs every morning.????
Eat properly, get outside and exercise. Don't be too careful with yourself. Human body is designed to take some physical abuse.
Its argued the internal forces absorbed by the bones actually promote growth and strength. Its not just diet.

Without a doubt, exercise and imposition of loads onto bones is a, arguably the, major factor.

But not always viable.

To a bemused driver with several sandwiches wrapped in tin foil who asked if he could maybe surrender the meat and keep just the bread, one customs officer replied: “No, everything will be confiscated. Welcome to Brexit, sir, I’m sorry.”

I wonder...

Direct from Sainsburys ok because it's not a personal import, but then carrying it on personally is banned, unless already in one's stomach.

Thought for the day
"The Pfizer vaccines destined for the UK are manufactured in Belgium."
:D
Odd that at the Coronavirus Sermons from the Minister for the Jockey Club no one has mentioned where it comes from and how it gets into the country after Brexit
Do they put a strip of red tape on each vial do you think?

Fastest U turn so far
This morning
GOVERNMENT SAYS IT WILL HAND-PICK PUBLIC QUESTIONSfor Coronavirus Press ConferencesThen U-Turns?
Sam Bright
11 January 2021

This evening

UPDATE
The Government has now updated its portal, removing the suggestion that it is hand-picking the public's questions. So officials have either U-turned, or they released a misleading policy without realising...

This morning

And now this evening

Surely it would be less hassle just to have a fridge on stage.

If this Government had a single competent person working for it, he or she would die of loneliness
