I reckon it's 50/50 who will win the US election, two barmy geriatrics who are even crazier than me...and that takes some doing. He's a fact for ya...combined age of the two candidates = 151 years, if there's something rotten in the White House I don't think it's the politics that needs changing.
I think it's wrong to call Trump a barmy geriatric. Like him or loathe him, he's a human dynamo workaholic, and he'd put any of us to shame with how much he gets through in a day.

My prediction is now swinging in Trumps direction. Apparently, a new bomb-shell is going to be dropped tomorrow, which is going to clear up any doubt about the situation regarding Biden's corruption.

The FBI now have three laptops!!! Where did the other two come from. One has all the emails about Burisma on it, one has photos of Hunter doing all sorts of weird things like shagging while smoking a crack pipe and lots of very young girls, and the third has something else that I can't remember - maybe family stuff with very strange diary entries from teenage Ashley Biden, Joe Bidens daughter, about naked showers with Joe and how over-sexualised she was. All these things can be found on the internet if you know how to search. It's all very weird!

The Biden camp has just announced that Biden will remain locked away until election day - no more rallies, no campaigning, no press conferences, nothing. Why do you think that is? It's not exactly going to help his cause is it? In the meantime, Trump is out doing 3 rallies a day, filling each one to capacity and more.

I've been following this story for four years. It has had so many twists and turns along the way, much better than anything I've ever seen on TV, and it gets better every day. The aftermath could be pretty good too. Are all the bad guys going to jail? I think it's much more complicated than that. Remember that the Epstein story hasn't been bottomed out yet and they still have Ghislaine Maxwell in custody. All the players have something on each other, though my theory is that Trump and a few of close associates are the only more or less clean ones. I think that Trump was chosen for that reason to represent the cause of cleaning up all the corruption in the US government. During the fake Russian collusion saga, everything he had done was put under extreme scrutiny for two years, and they came up with nothing. I bet those teams of investigators would have been able to put any of us in jail within a week.

I hope the police are going to hang those tanker pirates from the yardarm on Plymouth Hoe. The ship’s crew and their families back home must have been terrified. A clear message and example needs to be sent out.
I feel sorry for the stowaways. First they pay their own way to get here by buying rubber dinghys, but get criticised because that's dangerous.

So now they borrow something more substantial and safer, yet still get vilified. No wonder they got angry.

The Americas had the longest lead in time to this pandemic. The USAs response has been appalling, and I suspect it has been the source for the even worse death tolls in South America. Compare Canada's response with that of the USA.
And yes the Trump response to flights from China was racist and xenophobic. He did not quarantine or stop USA citizens, ,just Chinese. It was an economic warfare ploy at the time, dealing with trade sanctions not hygiene.
The US government system is devolved. Trump had very little to do with the way the virus was handled. Even now, many of the governors are doing the opposite of what he says. All Trump could do was make sure that they have everything they need to sort it, which he did very effectively. Even Cuomo praised him for that. A significant proportion of the total deaths happened when some mayors (especially New York) took infected old people out of hospitals and sent them to OAP residential homes, which infected all the other residents.

They don't pay themselves. The greater proportion are trafficked by NGOs and non-profit organisations. If they actually had the £1000 to £8000 that they say they paid, they'd all be robbing each other in the Calais camps. There's a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

No you are simply a slight annoyance, like a little fly that won't buzz off, still posting your usual nut job theories?
There are serious things going on, try to land on this planet. ;)
The truth often hurts. Breaking people's paradigms often makes them angry. Make a cup of tea, have a read of the Guardian, and you'll feel much better afterwards

latest polls in Texas give Biden 48/45 - 3 point lead. It's not a dead cert but Trump did not regain ground since the last debate. Texas has not voted Dems since Jimmy Carter.
Trump plays the 'Biden is a socialist' card - he has effectively run out of ideas.
You know what Yanks think of lefties though Woosh, I think they invented divan beds so reds couldn't hide underneath them !

And as I said, what he earns and does with his money is none of your business. Even if he gave no money, his giving up time and physically working for the charities is still more generous than all the people who do nothing.

We only have what we are born with in terms of ability and intelligence and many only have very limited ability to be part of the solution and avoid being part of the problem. It's your refusal to understand that and accept that this problem exists which creates the problem.

I agree with you that it Is a government problem, obviously if the kids need meals during school weeks, they need them when not in school. But again as I said, a Tory government will always try to avoid such responsibilities.
.
If an individual seeks to influence public opinion in order to force a change in Gov policy where money is concerned it's very much my business, it's called "disclosure"
I have every sympathy for those less fortunate than myself, my mother had ms and was wheelchair bound my partner is also disabled as is my daughter's young lad. I myself worked for 9 years in a psychiatric hospital (unpaid work) I've seen it all. Reluctantly I have to agree with Matt Hancock that money is available for those in most need of it, again my partner spends much of her time advising those who need to make claims for help for no reward whatsoever.
I'm fully aware what help is available from where to whom and how to obtain it, a rich footballer is not needed on this occasion. It wasn't too long ago Jamie Oliver was on a quest to change children's eating habits because they were getting too fat, he won that battle but of course lost the war because in the end schools still serve up crap food.
Marcus Rashford could well win his battle with this Gov but he should be warring with parents who in the end must face up to the responsibility of bringing children instead of spending the free cash they are given on booze, bingo and the Bongo Pipe.

I work for red crescent in my spare time. The idea that NGO's traffic refugees is so barmy I'm speechless. The most helpful thing I can suggest is that you use some of your retirement to do voluntary work for red crescent in Haiti. I mean that. It will change you and you'll enjoy it (beyond the poverty it's a beautiful place with the most generous people one could hope to meet)

Of course, there's always more to any story, I posted in fun about them "borrowing" a tanker.

However, its often their families who pay the money, not NGOs etc.

.. but probably not as terrified as the stowaways. Your use of Pirates is a deliberate escalation.
I’m using the appropriate term. These people have committed piracy. They made threats of violence towards the crew and they armed themselves. It’s a shame they got off the ship alive.

I’d now like to see them returned immediately, but I doubt very much that it will happen. We urgently need the detention & processing ships, or even better, a holding centre located on a remote island.

That's a cliche. Not even a plausible theory. In this case the truth doesn't hurt. Quite the opposite. But you're going to have to exchange alt right conspiracy sites for reality. Ive done some memorable sailing in haiti (on a truly ****** skiff). You're not going to get that from Breitbart.

There is an eloquent opinion piece in the Washington Post of yesterday by a Thomas Rid. Perhaps it will calm your troubled soul to read it. His analysis is consistent with my opinion.

That's mainly false. It's just a plausible story.
I disagreed since the evidence of there. The families don't have that sort of money so they borrow it, putting themselves in danger since they have to pay back one way or the other, money or trafficked young members of the family.

They do the borrowing as an investment, hoping that if one of their own gets here and establishes, it's a possible way in for them to enter. Of course that's not what can happen, but they only ever see one side of us, those visiting their country and seeming to be wealthy. So they get a hopelessly false idea of Britain, thinking this a land of universal wealth with plenty for everyone.

Those who do get here make it worse, since not wanting to be seen as failures they paint a false picture of how brilliantly they are doing, a few even sending a little cash back to reinforce that impression.

The ship’s crew and their families back home must have been terrified.
I chatted on the phone to a relative of mine about this incident this morning. My relative was in the Merchant Navy for many years. Although he never worked on oil tankers, he worked on some huge container ships and sailed around the world several times. He said that unless the stowaways came on board just over the last few days, then it was extremely unlikely that at least some of the crew did not know they were present, and would have been paid to take them to the UK.

As part of routine maintenance of a large ship (there were 22 crew members on board) most areas of it are generally checked (there are maintenance log books etc. covering this) on a regular basis. My relative retired a few years ago before a lot of this kicked off but he said after every stop in certain ports the ship would be checked for stowaways, and he thought ships companies would be even more keen on this nowadays.

He said the only way the crew would not be aware of the stowaways is if they had only been on board for say a couple of days, or the crew were extremely poorly trained and or inexperienced.

The key words are "opinion piece". Don't get that confused with "news article", which you're unlikely to find in the Washington Post.
