Our method is different. We first had a £5000 rebate, but as soon a there was a sign of a few buyers that was thought too much so it was reduced to £4500. A sudden much bigger surge in e-car buying in 2018 meant they made a further reduction to £3500. BUT, the rebates are always given.

I wouldn't be surprise if that gets reduced still more, since the largest selling car so far this year is a pure electric car and e-cars sales proportion is exceeding petrol and diesel.

That is how short sighted our government is, they have lost the ability to think. They have golden opportunities now, such as one or more of the following to boost e-car sales:

Removing the Covid-19 restrictions on distant travel from e-cars only, on grounds of none of the exhaust pollution which adversely affects the Covid rates.

Reintroducing the fossil fuel rationing that we had in the early 1970s during the Arab Oil supply crisis on similar grounds.

And/or a very big leap in tax on petrol and diesel to pay the Covid-19 bill for dealing with the infection.

Norway went to whole hog with numerous incentives long ago and well over all half of all new car registrations have been e-cars for a couple of years now. Petrol and diesel car drivers are second class citizens there.
.
I like it and would go for that. BUT, can't you hear Shami Chakrabarti, Dianne Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn crying that the "disadvantaged" (AKA complete fuckwits who squander every opportunity presented to them), will be disproportionately adversely affected? They would want to give an electric car away free to every waster on the planet. I'll vote for you as transport secretary though. #blacklivesmatter #metoo #idontgiveashit

Err.. well, NO...... except for the ethnic cleansing of some types.....Right??

Revealed: why 40,000 Protestants fled Ireland in four years
A southern Protestant who always wondered why he felt like 'an outsider' says he has discovered a virtually unknown of exodus of 40,000 Protestants who fled the south from 1920-23 due to sectarian intimidation and murder.

How Protestants were all but ethnically cleansed in South
Author BRIAN KENNAWAY reviews a new book detailing how Protestants in the Republic of Ireland suffered violence and persecution after the Easter Rising and Civil War, and still suffer from more subtle discrimination today
As I said earlier you should have grown up by now, especially as you are remaining in the EU

Before you start with more of this nonsense, it is time to remind you

You voted for Boris, and it has cost us how many thousand dead?

And now, your greed and jealousy of others possibly getting more than you out of the system surface again
Will you never learn?

Maybe not, Labour was supportive of e-car advantaging.

It was the Tory/Lib-dem coalition who introduced the grant, but the Tories alone who made both cuts.

Whatever, I'm sure we'll continue with our consistent lack of any imaginative government.

Well there you have it losers,
your EU hero has had a hand in this pandemic - par for the course from this unaccountable, unelectable half-wit

Wuhan virus lab was signed off by EU Brexit chief Michel Barnier in 2004 - despite French intelligence warnings that China's poor bio-security reputation could lead to a catastrophic leak
  • The EU's chief Brexit negotiator signed off on construction of the P4 laboratory

The construction of the Chinese laboratory at the centre of mounting suspicion over the source of the Covid-19 pandemic was signed off by the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier – despite warnings by French intelligence services.

Mr Barnier – currently embroiled in acrimonious negotiations with the UK over a post-Brexit trade deal – was the French foreign minister when he gave the go-ahead for work to start on the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2004, under a joint deal with the Chinese.

The move came despite strong opposition from French diplomatic and security advisers, who argued that the Chinese reputation for poor bio-security could lead to a catastrophic leak.

They also warned that Paris could lose control of the project, and even suggested that Beijing could harness the technology to make biowarfare weapons.

Eleven years later, as the laboratory prepared to open, the French architects of the project complained that they had, as feared, been ousted by the Chinese communist government.

Unionists really must stop living in the past. You do realise that was about 100 years ago don't you?

And the battle of the Boyne was 330 years ago for goodness sake! Yet you are still marching in triumph over an event which never had any real importance.

It's the huge problems you face now and in the future that should be receiving all your energies, not silly spats from long ago.

The crucial word in that long post is suspicion, meaning the whole post has no factual value relevant to your implications.

Tommie,Tommie, Tommie, why let facts interfere with a good rant.
So lets start with" unelected" . Was M Barnier not elected to the French Parliament?. The National assembly from 1978, and reelected multiple times, was he not voted as minister in the French Government was he not elected as MEP .. so fact 1. Wrong.
Lets continue with the Wuhan laboratory . ..and you need to read this more than once. ..There is ZERO evidence that the CV19 strain originated there. If anything there is evidence contradicting that as the bat materials they were studying were different genetically. Now I don't know enough about genetic sequencing, but I am sure there are plenty who do. Had papers been published from that laboratory ,using that bat genetic material, I expect that other labs in the "Free World" would have contradicted the Wuhan assertion.
I think you need to look closer to home for this story. I get feeds from the Express and the Mail and the frantic whining they are going in at present re M Barnier speaks volumes. Funny now why this story emerges the day after M. Barnier tells in less than diplomatic language that the talks are going nowhere.

Also Tommie's source - Daily Mail / Express should be treated with caution.

Analysis / Bias

The Daily Mail is a known a supporter of the Conservatives. They are also one of the pro-Brexit tabloids and according to a Reuters article, the Daily Mail published a controversial headline in response to a Brexit Court ruling criticizing the judges, by branding them as ‘enemies of the people’ According to CNBC, the Daily mail also has been criticized by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales for publishing fake news articles and “hyped up” headlines and “mastered the art of running stories that aren’t true’”. Further, CNBC reported that DMG media responded by saying “DailyMail.com is the very antithesis of click-bait and hype headlines. We just tell stories better than anyone else.”

In review, the Daily Mail tends to publish stories utilizing sensationalized headlines with emotionally loaded wordings such as “Woman, 63, ‘becomes PREGNANT in the mouth’ with baby squid after eating calamari”, which is a misleading headline. In 2017, Wikipedia banned the Daily Mail as an ‘unreliable’ source. When it comes to sourcing information they use minimal hyperlinked sourcing as well as sourcing to themselves. In general, most stories favor the right, however the Daily Mail will report either side if the story is sensational enough.

A factual search reveals that the Daily Mail has a poor track record with fact checkers. Here are a few failed fact checks:

Did the Daily Mail Delete a Story Reporting the U.S. Planned to Blame Assad for ‘False Flag’ Chemical Attacks? – Mostly True
“Google search spike suggests many people don’t know why they voted for Brexit.” – Mostly False
Is Using ‘Bug Spray’ to Get High an Alarming New Trend? – Mostly False
Did a White House Intern Make the ‘White Power’ Hand Gesture? – Unproven
Did ‘Melbourne Antifa’ Claim Responsibility for the Vegas Massacre? – False
Are Vigilante Protesters Digging Up Confederate Graves After Charlottesville Clashes? – Mostly False
“Racist picture of Democrat North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper emerges just days after he called on Ralph Northam to resign – DAILY MAIL.” – Pants on Fire

Much the same for the Express >
Overall, we rate the Daily Express Right Biased based on editorial content and Mixed for factual reporting due to publishing conspiracies & pseudoscience as well as a few failed fact checks.

No flecc..the Battle of the Boyne was a major event in European and possibly World history. I am not exaggerating..
Consider, William of Orange was bought and paid for by a group of London merchants. They deposed the legal King James ,and inserted this individual as their lackey.
When he prevailed at the Boyne, using a professional Dutch army, he assured an arrangement with England and the Netherlands. This meant that the Dutch colonies of the West Indies, the Americas and South Africa ceded to this alliance, and this gave the English the capital to finally subdue Scotland, and develop their empire.
Religion was then as now in Washington, just a flag to cover rapine. It is just that a number of lowland Scots transplanted from Scotland were and are stubborn slow learners.

Agreed on the facts of course, but not important then or later since the nature of humanity is such that we would have conceived an alternative series of events that would have a similar mix of good and bad consequences.

We are in today, the first century of the third millennium, so the unalterable history of the seventh century of the second millennium has no practical relevance in Ireland or anywhere else.

Except perhaps to use it to learn that it's only when we reach a true age of reason that we will really advance.

I know your brain is limited but how do you connect signing a joint building project with taking blame for pandemic?
And how can you describe the then French Foreign minister as an unelected hal wit?
Just how do you get to be French foreign minister except by election?
And for your information
The Wuhan lab received funding, mostly for virus discovery, in part from a ten-year, $200 million international program called PREDICT, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and Research
And there is this
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8211291/U-S-government-gave-3-7million-grant-Wuhan-lab-experimented-coronavirus-source-bats.html
REVEALED: U.S. government gave $3.7million grant to Wuhan lab at center of coronavirus leak scrutiny that was performing experiments on bats from the caves where the disease is believed to have originated

Tommie you really should give up on your juvenile hate campaign, you see something, in fact anything that you think you can use as ammunition in your petty hate campaign against the EU
And you are a million miles away from having even the slightest notion of what is going on

Silly child

Is the Coronavirus Show still on at weekends? I thought I’d read somewhere that the weekend viewing figures were down so they were just doing weekdays now. I suppose 350 dead / day is getting a bit boring. Not like the heady days of 1000 / day a few weeks back. Maybe they’ll do a Christmas Special with a compilation of all the highlights from Season 1.

Yes, there's no weekend matinees now.

Monday's way of dealing with that will be interesting. Will they report over 1000 deaths since the Friday report of Thursday's figures or give the day by day details? I suppose it will depend on whether the trend is downwards so favourable to them.
