Our method is different. We first had a £5000 rebate, but as soon a there was a sign of a few buyers that was thought too much so it was reduced to £4500. A sudden much bigger surge in e-car buying in 2018 meant they made a further reduction to £3500. BUT, the rebates are always given.

I wouldn't be surprise if that gets reduced still more, since the largest selling car so far this year is a pure electric car and e-cars sales proportion is exceeding petrol and diesel.

That is how short sighted our government is, they have lost the ability to think. They have golden opportunities now, such as one or more of the following to boost e-car sales:

Removing the Covid-19 restrictions on distant travel from e-cars only, on grounds of none of the exhaust pollution which adversely affects the Covid rates.

Reintroducing the fossil fuel rationing that we had in the early 1970s during the Arab Oil supply crisis on similar grounds.

And/or a very big leap in tax on petrol and diesel to pay the Covid-19 bill for dealing with the infection.

Norway went to whole hog with numerous incentives long ago and well over all half of all new car registrations have been e-cars for a couple of years now. Petrol and diesel car drivers are second class citizens there.

Maybe not, Labour was supportive of e-car advantaging.

It was the Tory/Lib-dem coalition who introduced the grant, but the Tories alone who made both cuts.

So lets start with" unelected" . Was M Barnier not elected to the French Parliament?. The National assembly from 1978, and reelected multiple times, was he not voted as minister in the French Government was he not elected as MEP .. so fact 1. Wrong.
Lets continue with the Wuhan laboratory . ..and you need to read this more than once. ..There is ZERO evidence that the CV19 strain originated there. If anything there is evidence contradicting that as the bat materials they were studying were different genetically. Now I don't know enough about genetic sequencing, but I am sure there are plenty who do. Had papers been published from that laboratory ,using that bat genetic material, I expect that other labs in the "Free World" would have contradicted the Wuhan assertion.
I think you need to look closer to home for this story. I get feeds from the Express and the Mail and the frantic whining they are going in at present re M Barnier speaks volumes. Funny now why this story emerges the day after M. Barnier tells in less than diplomatic language that the talks are going nowhere.

Yes, there's no weekend matinees now.

Monday's way of dealing with that will be interesting. Will they report over 1000 deaths since the Friday report of Thursday's figures or give the day by day details? I suppose it will depend on whether the trend is downwards so favourable to them.
