Chatting to members of my and my partners families last night on the phone we asked them if they would be sending their kids back to school on deadline day, not a single family member said yes.
If fact it seems very few parents will send their kids to school under the present circumstances if their safety can't be guaranteed, which clearly it can't.

Note the people in NI essentially forced the hand of the NI Executive, by withdrawing their kids. I had occasion to stop in Belfast on I believe 16th March, and it was a Ghost town. This was while the concept of herd immunity was being foisted.. but the canny NI folks are not fools. RoI had effectively shut down on 11\ 12 . NI had by people power, done so on 16th.

Most won't have any option if their lockdown benefits stop and going to work depends on the kids going to school.

Can't see it coming to that though flecc, the law says if they can't guarantee safety etc. Just imagine you send your kid back even though you believe it to be unsafe to do so, then the little blighter gets sick and maybe gives it to you for good measure. My own council has already said it would want an absolute guarantee which of course it won't get, so they'll be a lot of huffing and puffing until July when they all knock off anyway.

The Speaker of the House of Commons threatened to kick Matt Hancock out of the chamber during PMQs after he talked over Labour leader Keir Starmer.

The Health Secretary was told off by Lindsay Hoyle after he was heard advising the Prime Minister while the opposition leader was talking.

Mr Hoyle said he would be "more than happy" for him to leave the chamber and be replaced with someone else.

He told Mr Hancock: “Secretary of State for Health, please, I don’t mind you advising the Prime Minister but you don’t need to advise the opposition during this.”

After he continued to speak, the Speaker hit back: “Sorry, do you want to leave the Chamber?

“We’re at maximum numbers, if you want to give way to somebody else I’m more than happy.”

Does anyone know what remarkable properties exist in a child's skin that prevents them from transmitting covid-19 by contact with an adult ? According to the Government that can't happen, if true then there's your cure and a vaccine is not required.

Well Pres. Trump will surely have met his campaign promise regarding a Wall keeping out the Mexicans. Why would anyone cross a barrier, even a line in the sand, if it means entering an infectious zone with 100 times the infection rate, per head ?. Who knew (except himself) he could be so clever!.
To import and sell prohibited drugs, to make money from other crime, or to work illegally are a few reasons.

There might not be many teachers at the schools to stop the children tearing the building apart.

I don’t think there is much to worry about in terms of Coronavirus harming children. The concern centres around the children passing it on to their teachers and killing them and their families.

I was listening to that live. Starmer ran rings around Johnson again. I don’t think he managed to answer a single question.

Handcock is a bell end, the speaker should have thrown him out.

Yes Barry, I agree that there is not much concern about CV19 affecting children.. But there is mounting evidence that this attitude is misplaced. There are specific conditions happening with a minority of children, which in normal circumstances would be considered very serious.

I’m reading about gridlocked roads and packed beaches in Devon & Cornwall. I’m a bit mystified as to why so many people are available to travel to these places. It must be furloughed people. People being paid by the state to do a job. That job is to stay local to home and not **** things up for people in the West Country. The police should have the power to take details of these people to pass on for the purpose of stopping their furlough payment. The twats may as well be crammed into an office.

This is the problem when you have a government not giving clear instructions. Johnson said that people should use their common sense. Doesn’t he realise that the British are a nation of people who go out and panic buy lavatory paper and pasta? How is using common sense going to work on people like this?

Maybe we will do one or two kids if the schools re-open. However, I think the teachers are mainly concerned about the much more likely scenario of them catching it off the kids and dying. There is no clear understanding about transmission from young children to adults.

A chaotic system with hardly any training. I’m just sat around scrolling through Netflix all day.

No prizes for guessing which job this newly appointed employee is describing.

Just saw this.

there was a reported 40-minute queue for a toilet in Skegness.

What a way to spend what was possibly your first "day out" since lockdown began! Queuing for a bog in Skeggie.

It looks like quid pro quo Joe has got himself in a bit of trouble.

There's no way that Joe's going to make it to the vote for the election. His dementia is accelerating rapidly and he can't hold a normal conversation anymore. Here he is trying to say Corona virus, but fails miserably. It's cruel that they keep him going. I think the plan is to swap him for Hillary on medical grounds if he gets elected. Going by his rapid decline, my prediction is that he'll be replaced before the vote, but they're struggling for a viable candidate.
