I hope our senior politicians watched Trumps performance yesterday during the White House briefing. It was an object lesson in how a leader should NOT conduct oneself during a time of crisis. He has been pretty bad in all the briefings I have seen so far but yesterday hit a new low.

His base I am sure will cheer him on no matter what he says or does but I think around 65% of people in the USA who watched his performance yesterday must be in despair.

Boris has made many mistakes, I think he has been a couple of weeks behind where he should have been on most of the actions he has taken, but in comparison to trump he is doing fairly well.

I am quite impressed with the Chancellor he comes across far better than Boris, I suspect when all this is over either Boris will get rid of him if he is powerful enough or more likely the Tory party will get rid of Boris and put the Chancellor in charge.

Has anyone seen Gove (we've had enough of experts) lately? He seems to have disappeared without trace.

Don't hear to much bashing of the BBC and the Civil Service and letting US get their hands on the NHS from Tory Brexitier politicians nowadays funny that isn't it. At times of crisis people turn to old and trusted institutions and perhaps are starting to realise how much worse things could have been if this virus had stuck in a year or twos time when the BBC and Civil Service had been decimated and parts of the NHS hived off to private industry.
Good post and some lessons in there that it would be wise to consider.

It won't alter the position of the, "why should I pay for stuff poor people use" brigade though.

In fairness all MPs have been advised to stay away unless they are personally involved in an issue being discussed in the House etc.

'I thought it was a hoax' - Worcester company in race against time to build life-saving ventilators for coronavirus patients
A COMPANY based in Worcester has designed a medical ventilator to be used in hospitals in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move could help to save the lives of those suffering from the effects of pneumonia caused by the coronavirus. It is feared that the NHS currently does not have enough to cope with a high influx of cases.

Gtech, which specialises in making home and garden appliances, said the ventilator could be manufactured in a "matter of days."

The owner of Gtech began working on the project on Sunday, when the Government's chief commercial officer asked if the company could assist in increasing the number of ventilators in the UK.

With current stock at around 8,000, Nick Grey, owner of Gtech, said he felt "compelled" to respond to calls for help from the Government.

"At first I thought it was a hoax - being asked if I could assist in making up to 30,000 medical ventilators in as little as two weeks," he said.

"When I realised that this was a genuine need I felt compelled to help.

With 8000 made since Sunday, I hope it's not just their leaf blower with a mouthpiece.

Does self-isolate and socially distance yourself include getting in the car, driving two hundred or more miles, occupying holiday cottages and caravans and so on, and wiping out stock in local shops?

Appears that vast numbers of people would rather come to Wales than stay wherever they usually live. Despite medical provisions being often meagre for the all-year residents without the capacity to support more.

A very approximate estimate was that today two thirds of the cars and other people movers, etc., were non-Welsh plates. When there are effectively no tourists, I'd guess something like a third are non-Welsh but owned by residents. (Including my car. :( But never before has there been any sort of reason to change it.)

I shall be very surprised if our covid-19 numbers don't rise significantly in the next few days/week or two.

Rather wryly amusing when you think this is a consequence of freedom of movement within the UK - whilst blaming EU FoM for every other bad thing that has happened in the last forty years.

Indeed it's very selfish, and I've heard Cornwall is suffering the same so Devon will be too.

There's no way those areas will be able to provide food and medical care for all those people in current circumstances.

I know this is an emergency and we are desperate. But as a physician, I took a solemn oath to “first, do no harm.” That means not testing off label drugs on human patients that may have side effects like vision and hearing loss, heart problems, and death for an unproven benefit.

I didn't respond, but thought about this point
I agree whole heartedly and yet some of my prescribed medicines carry the caveat "may cause sudden death"

And this pack of lies
"
Maajid moved on from the immediate and wanted the opinion of Tom, former media advisor to PM Theresa May, on the government's attitude towards communications in this time.

"You could cut them some slack" Tom pointed out. He believed that Boris Johnson's senior advisor Dominic Cummings has done a good job in messaging for the PM in this scenario and should be applauded

Bloody fools all of them.

And here’s the Daily Mail actively facilitating the spread of #Covid_19 while directly putting people’s lives at risk. Take Jura: it is remote, has a large elderly population and no hospital. To encourage travel there now is not just irresponsible, it’s criminal. #StayAtHome https://pic.twitter.com/ZsFMBOJy48

Is this a new Cummings inspired initiative? to lure the gullible into far away places where they can expire at leisure far from any help facilities, and endanger the few locals in the process?

That Paper needs closing down permanantly

Yes - thanks - I saw that. A friend lives up in Gwynedd and has described how loo rolls are now being sold one at a time at 49p in the local Co-op. When they have any.

Her particular concern is her prescription medicines - about five things - all needed repeats on different days.

She is rather hoping they will get bored stiff and go home. No restaurants and cafes, no pubs, empty shops,...
