The Pound recovers 0.5% this morning on the rumour that the EU is willing to look into a mechanism for NI to leave the EU after a number of years.

Parliament will decide on 19-October on leaving with no deal or extend A50.

talks broke down a couple of hours ago.
The Pound drops back down to its lowest level for years.
It looks like some in the city were trying a 'dead cat bounce' maneuver on the Pound.
I don't mean to compare the Pound to a dead cat.

What happened to making leaving with no deal illegal?
The decision if taken to leave with No Deal will still be subject to the law.

The likelyhood is that the House will not vote for that, so it will be a moot point.

But if they did, there will also be the majority to repeal the Benn Act, which they'll then do.

This is serious folks!
From the New European
"
Brexit now at a 'farcical level' as toilet roll company admits stock could struggle
https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top-stories/toilet-roll-after-no-deal-brexit-1-6311965

Edwards told PA that the government's Brexit strategy was now at a "farcical level".

He said: "This is the farcical level we have descended to - the British government can no longer even guarantee we have the necessary supplies of toilet paper in a crash-out Brexit.

"It's already said it's willing to flush the economy down the toilet, but now we won't have the paper to clean up after.

"As much as this revelation lends itself to toilet humour, it shows the serious damage a no-deal Brexit would do, even to our most basic of supplies."
...
Now for the good news, formerly the use of Newspaper was widespread and while hardly luxurious was practical, but because flush volumes and consequently flush performance is considerably reduced, the former standard tear down size of 7 by 5 inches size will lead to frequent blockages of both the loo and the drains.
However, if you reduce the tear down size to 4inches square and limit yourself to no more than four sheets, you should manage with minimal toilet blockage.
And at least the right wing tabloids can be disposed of in a deserving manner.

I suppose it depends on whether the house is willing to associate itself with such a questionable decision as "No deal"
Jolly brave of them if they do!

When you get down to the nitty gritty, the choices for Brexit boil down to this

Possible public disruption if Brexit is cancelled but no economic consequences
Possible public disruption if Brexit happens plus economic consequences

Simples: get a grip parliament and revoke article 50

There wouldn't be any meaningful politically inspired disruption if Brexit is cancelled, that only exists in the fevered minds of the Leavers. It's even more unlikely if there's a confirming referendum to cancel it.

The reality of cancelling Brexit is that those in employment will still be at work, thankful they still have jobs. Those not in work will still be either running their illicit drugs or stolen goods trade or busy taking part in Extinction Rebellion demos.

latest poll:

No deal: 45
Remain: 55
This is getting into a minefield, but a BMG poll for the independent a few days ago say just over a third of the electorate support no deal while the country is 55/45 in favour of revoking art 50. Considering the tortured madness no deal is, its hard to believe almost half of the electorate would want it. In April only 25% supported no deal, somehow the Tories' bizarre madness has become a vote winner in the populist nut house the UK's become.

Its the Tory rags whipping up the “We didn’t fight two world wars for ........” type of BS. For some reason it fires people up.

The crazy thing is, they / we didn’t fight two world wars. Other people did, most of who will have passed away by now.
