Thank you for restraining the desire to satisfy your inner insecurities concerning intelligence. Based on the previous posts you have made on matters pertaining to thermodynamic principals, you would be hopelessly wrong, again.

I am content with my knowledge of thermodynamics.
Those thermodynamic principals to which you refer are they human?. ..as a taster, the efficiency of electrical production of a modern gas turbine is 60% , and COPs of heat pumps required for modest temperature gradients are typically 400%

Dan please lose the dot after an exclamation mark.

The exclamation mark contains a full stop.

But other than that I find your explanations informative.
As I have previously explained, I do these posts using a tablet and the things like full stops or editing are actually difficult ..with my aged eyes.

Fair enough.

But you do not come across as aged. Or with bad eyes.

..Oh I am both cross, and aged and the resolution on my tablet is very high, so punctuation marks are virtually invisible.

But in a spirit of friendship.. when you do get your house, An electric air to water heat pump is a very sound investment. .I Pioneered their installation in my neck of the woods, and was also the first local house with thermal solar. My system is linked so that the solar heats the base of the hot water tank, and the heatpump tops it up ,. I also had an oil burner linked in ,so on the few days per year, when the temperature makes the heat pump ineffective, the oil burner sends a blast... . And if that failed the immersion could heat the top of the tank. Finally in the event of an electrical failure... extremely rare nowadays, we retained a bottle gas hob.

Oh snap!

Fifty is getting schooled!

I hope you are paying the retired lecturer Mr Hertz.
During my years in education I discovered how to identify the less intelligent and les capable people who walk amongst us. Without exception, the people who constantly find it necessary to tell people how clever they are, or what they have achieved are the ones to exercise caution over. When you scratch beneath the surface, you will find very little of value.

Danny-boy is one of those people who are full of pi$$ and wind and are to be avoided by employers. They will spend their working day attempting to demonstrate how valuable they are via meetings and panels, but actually achieve FA. Eventually, they will bottom out in education. It’s all shop window with these people. Using unnecessarily complicated language and unnecessarily over complicating very simple principles to the extent they confuses themselves and get it wrong.

A truly clever person takes the complex and presents it in such a way that the reader thinks they already knew what they have just learned.

But other than that I find your explanations informative.
The exclamation mark appears to have derived from the Lation "io" - written in a conventionalised way with the "i" over the very much reduced "o". Hence, in that sense, it does not incorporate a full stop. Though, as we all know, conventional typography does treat it as a sentence terminating punctuation mark.

All ancient history now, but the company found ground source heat pumps a better bet in cooler countries, and also far less noisy in operation (that may well be out of date this was over 25 years ago.)
The other proposals included building houses with sleeping areas downstairs and living areas upstairs. to take advantage the different temperature requirements.
It all came to nothing after a promising start.

Lots of people find that they dislike going downstairs to their bedrooms. Obviously, pretty much all of us have slept in non-conventional locations, I used to live in a bungalow, and one house I had the first floor was on ground level at the back. But somehow I prefer going upstairs.

Having only driven on non-Welsh motorways on one day in the past six months or so, I have not seen the matrix signs flashing "Leaving on October 31". (Welsh signs seem to show the time when not actively being used for their usual purposes. An odd difference as English ones were usually blank.)

Since when were such signs allowed for pure propaganda purposes? Quite liked this comment:

Most recently the government has even been spaffing on those motorway dot matrix variable message signs which, to be fair, do exist to warn us of impending carnage just a few miles ahead.

What BJ and co seem to be missing is that for centuries the highest court of the land was the House of Lords sitting in judgement. That this became the SC was a choice but does not (should not) affect their status. Now we see:

On Saturday night, Johnson signalled that he would again challenge the judiciary by introducing US-style political screening of supreme court judges before they are appointed. Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, the prime minister said: “If judges are to pronounce on political questions in this way, then there is at least an argument that there should be some form of accountability. The lessons of America are relevant.” The Law Society and the Bar Council both said last week that politically appointed judges would threaten the independence of the judiciary.

I drove down the M5 on Friday and noticed many dot-matrix signs saying get your $hit together before 31/10. I’ve also seen and heard tv / radio campaigns saying much the same thing, no details, just sort your stuff out next month. Is this the U.K. being prepared for a no-deal Brexit?

Oddly, I have heard there is a major campaign, but have seen almost nothing of it. I obviously don't read the right sources. (Yes, have seen bits on gov.uk.)

And, other than stocking up, it is actually difficult to know what to do to prepare.

In typical government style, it’s all words and activity, but no substance or action. The sum total of the government’s preparation and information campaign seems to be, “Get ready for 31/10.” Nothing more than that.
