This will i think mean tm will ask for a long long extension and get it
I think not.. The choice now is crash out or revoke. While this increases the chance of a crash out very considerably, which is not a result I desire, I am happy that at least one person in the HoC can make a principled decision. I suspect he was swayed by the logical speech of that MP a few days ago,who argued precedence

The backstop was never the issue. Anyone who thinks it was is fudging the issue. What chance now of an emergency motion to revoke?.
Won't MPs wait to see if the EU will grant some sort of extension, which I suspect they will. Only in the event of the EU not providing an extension would they consider an emergency motion to revoke. At least that how I imagine it would work, but I'm no expert on these types of procedures.

Kwarteng, junior brexit minister, says they will ask for extension. But who knows what happens next, you may be right. Then it could be an interesting experiment in lower quality and quantity of life.

But remember the EU only prepared to offer one,to fill technical conditions. It they believe,as I do,that stopping Brexit is in both UK and EUs interest. Why would they?.

I imagine they don't want to take the risk for being blamed for creating a WTO Brexit if they refuse an extension and we then leave on the 29th.

Not sure why TM and her advisors could not foresee the Speaker acting the way he did today, this has been talked about before I find it hard to imagine they would not have considered the possibility that he would do this.

Parliament can shut up shop, like NI and MPs take an early holiday. EU and Civil Service can run a skeleton crew to keep the country ticking over. Then on March 29th Farage and the marchers can arrive to an empty Westminster.

If the government ask for an extension what can they ask it for...
Short technical extension to get May’s deal concluded....that won’t work Bercow has scuppered May’s deal.
Long extension, more than one year, possibly two.....for May to kick the can down the road, that won’t work, the EU have already rejected it. Or to prepare for a second referendum ,the EU would go for that, but would May have the nerve to announce it.....the ERG would throw their toys out.
She could say that she wants an extension for a General Election, she may lose that and even if she won it is likely to be close so nothing has been achieved.
Could she revoke Art 50,have a short break then reissue the Art 50 again?
This was all caused by the original vote being very close, there was no mandate for Brexit,Parliament is largely Remainers and nobody has come up with any good reasons why we are doing it.
Well done Bercow you have finally caused May to stop can kicking and must now make some sensible decisions.
KudosDave

Bercow does TM a favour. She must be fed up by now with the ERG's and DUP's tactics of blackmail. She can now tell them to put up or shut up and vote for her deal because the alternative is Corbyn's deal and confirmatory vote.

Errr.... hasn`t Bercow just said NO to another Meaningless Vote!! ?

Amazing the attitude of our resident bike sellers when they`ve admitted they could be pocketing £150+ per bike sold...........but Hey No, let the EU screw us with their anti-dumping tarrifs!

Two short planks come to mind.

Except that she cannot. Bercow has ruled it out.
The options are narrowing.
1. Do nothing .. crash out
2. Seek extension ,3 months , then crash out
3. Seek extension 2 years EU says no. Crash out.
4. Revoke A50,.. disgruntled 30 to 60% of HoC ..vote of confidence by Labour.. new election. I assume a vote of confidence can be put as often as desired?.
5. New GE, new government, three months of crashout, puts the WA again, chastened HoC accepts. EU in a spirit of magnanimity, backdates the extension and readmitting the UK on its previous terms in September.
