Just who are the government who wantonly hide their legal advice, who are now briefing a select few. They damn well should be telling us - the people. If there is some good reason for keeping parts secret, they need to explain that, not just hide it.

Meanwhile, the FT’s Jim Pickard is reporting that members of the privy council have been invited to a briefing on the consequences of a no-deal Brexit by the Cabinet Office.
That will probably be as well attended as one of Farage's pro Brexit demo's have been!

People who voted for Brexit don't hate foreigners half as much as you hate the British people.
Did I touch a nerve there 'gray198'? Clearly, you are still in denial about your real reason for supporting the section of society that gave us Thomas Mair and all the racist, upper-class, rabble-rousers who patronised the the thickos and street thugs by their racist language and overt threats about expulsion/repatriation, some of it emblazoned on the sides of vans and on advertising hoardings.

Perhaps you'd like to explain your nonsensical statement that I hate the British people? Just because I despise racists, liars and trolls is a very, very long way from your claim.

You have lurked around this thread for a long time without ever explaining why 'Brexit' might somehow be beneficial for the people of the UK. Now, I doubt very much whether you have any knowledge of economics, history, trade relations, taxation, tariffs or any other matter relating to secession from the EU, (none has ever been evident), which rather points to some other reason why you voted for it.

I note you have repeatedly condemned Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party without ever explaining why, so it appears you have a massive hang-up where they are concerned and it is therefore difficult to credit you with any intelligence in matters political.

If you had any understanding of British history, European history, politics and how the geo-political map of the world has altered and power has shifted through the last 12 decades, you might begin to understand how misplaced your views really are.

Sadly, you come across as a poorly educated, gullible fool, highly susceptible to the brainwashing to which you have been exposed for probably all your life.

You're in good company in this thread as your poisoned views are shared by a handful of like-minded idiots, all somewhat irked at the moment because they can't have their 'Little England' with all foreign-born people kicked out. It seems also that the ECJ will still hold sway over much of current UK legislation, should we secede on any kind of deal so what was the point of all the 'Brexit' claims about sovereignty, controlling our borders, etc?

Remember all the put-downs like 'You lost - get over it!'?
It seems to me now that such triumphalism was premature as 'Brexit' has not been achieved, unless you imagine somehow that 'Brino', where we still pay our subs to Brussels but don't have any say in the affairs or future direction of the EU is a victory.

I do agree with you. It was never going to be easy, but it could have been done if all the politicians had honoured their promises and got behind the PM from the start. Instead they have tried to disrupt it all the way. They are put there to represent the electorate (not themselves). I feel certain that if we'd had a united approach we could be in a much stronger position. So I don't think it is the fault of the people who voted,
It's the fault of people like Dominic Grieve Anna Soubry Kier Starmer etc. to name a few. I think it will take the country years to restore any faith in out system , and they wonder why young people don't vote
If Theresa May had involved Parliament from 24 June 2016 then I agree it could have been different. But she had an isolationist attitude keeping Parliament away from all decisions and she is still doing it- the legal info a prime example, the battles with Gina Miller, the stupid GE,trying to stop the ECJ making decisions about Art 50....the list is endless. May has a real problem as a politician ,she is a control freak and cannot make decisions.
The approach she has taken on this Brexit debate is as hostile as Custer’s Last Stand, she managed to unify Parliament against her, both Remainers and Leavers.
Remainers could be convinced about Brexit if it was presented well, but May/Fox/Davis/Boris just don’t inspire,in fact most of us think they are a bunch of ego chasers who are looking after their own-when a second referendum comes along,as it will, wait until Boris changes sides when Remain look like winning.

this is an argument I don't understand. Are you saying that if we leave all trade with the EU would suddenly stop. In a previous post you said that there was 45 years of integration to undo and then you talk as if on day one everything would stop. Sorry Flecc I don't buy that. If the EU tried to do that I'm sure they would have some very serious questions to answer
I sell into every EU country, trade won’t suddenly stop,in fact HMRC are so poorly staffed that they have made no plans if we leave abruptly. I suspect that for weeks we will continue as though nothing had happened, the integration of VAT could take years to unravel. Can you imagine on April 1 a man from HMRC is going to reprimand us all for not using the new system, how will tariff be collected when there is no customs to collect them,I bet the EU will be organised quicker than us,
Hammond has said that Dover won’t be ready for WTO for minimum 2 years, probably 5 years.

Found another good reason to make Juncker our PM. If his country can manage this while we see 3.1% rail fare increases (and about a third of Welsh rolling stock out of order):

Luxembourg to become first country to make all public transport free

Government seeks to prioritise environment and end some of world’s worst traffic congestion

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/05/luxembourg-to-become-first-country-to-make-all-public-transport-free
Good to learn. Long ago we introduced similar policies in London, all child travel free up to 16, or 18 in full time education, travel free for all over 60, so only the middle working years pay and even they are heavily subsidised, paying about two thirds.

All transport covered by TFL, buses, tube, tram, DLR, river bus and local main lines trains are either free or sometimes at low child rates or otherwise subsidised. Big cash encouragement to use electric cars too and the most cycling infrastructure in the UK. Definitely the way to go to cut pollution and deal with global warming.

this has always been a British problem in terms of both politicians and business leaders. They don't plan long term. Politicians take decisions for the good of the party or themselves, and businessmen only worry about what they can make money wise( big business that is). Where other countries have invested in infrastructure etc we have just sat back and let everything fall to pieces.

You sure about that? I kind of understood that there's about 17 million, give or take, who really don't want either of those two things.

and to add

https://news.sky.com/story/brexit-forensics-playing-chicken-with-the-channel-tunnel-11291767

"Hard Brexit", "soft Brexit" and "no deal". It is the last scenario that has raised the most eyebrows in industry.

"This is what we call the 'Throw Open the Borders option'," said one operator. The scenario involves the UK on day one of Brexit unilaterally deciding not to enforce customs checks, and other border checks, and presuming that a reciprocal approach will be taken by the European Union, and thus at least temporarily maintaining a non-negotiated form of frictionless trade in goods.

Indeed, although a number of involved operators confirmed this approach as a scenario being discussed by the Government, the Treasury appears to have broadly confirmed it to MPs.

The Treasury minute in response to the Public Accounts Committee's excoriating recent report on Brexit border preparations says that "the Border Planning Group has reviewed all border locations (ports, airports and the Channel Tunnel) to understand the implications at these locations of controls and checks; and concluded that there are a number of locations, especially 'roll on - roll off' ports (for example, Dover), where significant extra controls and checks would be difficult to accommodate without affecting the flow of traffic and people

"If you have a two-minute delay on every freight vehicle, that could be a 17-mile tailback on both sides of Channel.

"If solving this means throwing open the borders to all players... it is staggering after all the Government's constant talk of controlling borders - we are faced with a situation which could be fairly open borders and chaos on day one".

Not enforcing checks is not the same as it becoming legal to bring in anything you like, in any quantity, without paying anything. This would be true even if we accept that items that are actually illegal would still be illegal - arms, drugs, etc.

I'd want to be very sure that HMRC wouldn't come chasing after the event before relying on not being charged on the day.

I don't know if anyone here heard Andrea Loathsome on BBC R4, talking about being found in contempt?

Was she contrite? Was she apologetic?

Not a bit of it; she was disgruntled and annoyed that parliament had actually had the temerity to not just question her party's behaviour but to then proceed to find them guilty of contempt!

You couldn't make this stuff up!

Probably because he doesn't have any cogent material to offer up in support of his love affair with the 'Brexit' dream he shares with idiots.

Tom

That’s rich coming from the biggest liar on here.

Look I realise you want to appear to be an idiot, but let me assure you there isn't any need.
You really must go back to leave HQ and ask for better material than this. which sounds like it has been passed internally through Boris Johnson before it was passed to you.
You do yourself a grave injustice defending Tom. Your arguments are generally sound with well made points.but defending Tom when he has accused others of racism, trolling etc etc simply negates your own reasonable stance.
You have done this throughout the thread. It baffles me, yes agreed that's not difficult.
I notice Tom has remembered password to Robdon.

That's strange when I wrote this I thought I was defending Toms right to say this
"
You mean a straightforward, salt-of-the-earth, no holds barred, racist party for all the scum who hate foreign people?

Haven't we got enough of groups like that already?"
Which engendered Grays extreme response, and frankly I don't understand why you aren't critical of that response.
