even if we leave with no deal are you seriously suggesting that trade would cease out of spite. Politicians on both sides of the channel would have to be pretty stupid (maybe they are) for that to happen
No! trade would not cease under almost any scenario... Ascot would never be Ascot without the Champers and strawberries ..replacing it with Strongbow Cider would not be proper, nor would repairing ones Purdey shotguns in a French workshop, suita Belgian mangate... Those people will always take care of themselves, but the market for Golden Delicious might drop and be replaced by Cox's Orange Pippins. The range of cheeses available might drop on both sides
But don't be so sanguine about the common sense of political classes... As Barnum is reputed to to have said.. no one has gone broke underestimating the sense of taste of the public.

thanks Flecc but that doesn't work for me, maybe because I am on Chromebook. Found out if I click on relevant persons name there is an ignore button. I really don't like being called an idiot by somebody who doesn't know me. people that do know me might think so. To refer to people as idiots because they hold a different point of view shows a sense of superiority. I might be a nuclear physicist for all they know. But then again they have done it all the way through this thread

Just checked 120/70 Pulse 60,and the squealing seems to be coming from the leave fans on here, hadn't you noticed?
Two years into the preliminaries of Brexit and the result? Pandemonium, Government and Parliament in turmoil, the voting public split ,not merely down the middle, but is many different directions as well
This is what Brexit has become, a huge liability.

How's the trousers?

I think it will only be the politicians that create a problem. I'm sure that people on both sides of the channel would just want to continue being friends and trading partners

If you don't like being called an idiot why did you post this?

People who voted for Brexit don't hate foreigners half as much as you hate the British people. Maybe you are not British at all. Just some agitator and you accuse others of being trolls. All your posts are tinged with a loathing for your countrymen.

And this
I really don't like being called an idiot by somebody who doesn't know me.2
But you find it fair enough to make that first comment?
To refer to people as idiots because they hold a different point of view shows a sense of superiority.

To insult their loyalty to the nation is by far a more serious offence and as I remarked shows just what you are.
It does fit in with the strange victim complex leave voters have developed

The same as for wars, the people never want them. Just like Brexit they end up being cast in the role of victims.

Guardian reports (from Twitter):

Lamont says he appreciates assurances from PM on fishing but no promises can bind future governments, or EU leaders

Following that logic, how can a referendum which took place before an election bind a government which was elected after the referendum?

Certainly you can argue that the manifesto has some force, but that is not the referendum.

Go to the top of the page and on the right in line with the page numbers, click "Ignore Thread".

You won't see it again and you could then start worrying about how low your e-bike sales are in Winter instead. ;)

When filled with remorse and wanting to see the Brexit thread again, hover over Forums on the menu bar above and click Threads you Ignore to reverse it.

Guess how many MP's present in the chamber ?..................13 that's all!

They are taking the mickey out of all of us with this charade!
Do you realise that on this thread we frequently outnumber the MP's willing to work late on our behalf?
Comical really when you think about it..................

Just who are the government who wantonly hide their legal advice, who are now briefing a select few. They damn well should be telling us - the people. If there is some good reason for keeping parts secret, they need to explain that, not just hide it.

Meanwhile, the FT’s Jim Pickard is reporting that members of the privy council have been invited to a briefing on the consequences of a no-deal Brexit by the Cabinet Office.
