Paris is much more expensive than London.
I guess you aren't fluent in French? Paris is just as expensive as London if you are a visitor. To live there however:

You would need around 5,246.59€ (4,649.00£) in London to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with 4,600.00€ in Paris (assuming you rent in both cities). This calculation uses our Cost of Living Plus Rent Index to compare cost of living. This assumes net earnings (after income tax).

The ball is indeed in our court. And I do think the EU will alter the deal. They don’t want a no deal. As I’ve said before. This is how the EU operates. It was always going to be an 11th hour and 59 minutes deal.

Remember when the last but one treaty signing was arranged and was rejected then they made another? A miracle! Or was it just normal practice....

Maybe we will suffer increasing prices but they will never get to the level of what you have now under the EU. I went to a Tesco’s in Wexford and was quite astonished at the prices. Things that cost £5.99 here cost €15.99 things that cost £1.25 here cost €3 there etc.

How does that compute? Same import and tariffs and the exact same product yet nearly three times the price.

I’m not sure how or why this frozen food seller shut down but I doubt it was Brexit. In fact frozen produce and storage has gone up to such an extent that we are desperate for industrial freezing units.

Sounds like a badly run company to me. Especially when you consider we’ve not even had Brexit yet.
I will tell you how the prices compute. The retail distribution market has been dominated by British wholesalers... You will have seen their names in any of the shopping centres. They compute their prices in sterling and set up their prices at the exchange rate at a specific point in time. Then as the sterling value collapsed, they recompute their sterling prices, but don't bother to recompute the price for the RoI.. why would they , as far as these distributors are concerned the entire population of RoI is like Manchester and its environs... Do these distributors have special prices for Manchester as opposed to Cornwall.?.
I am convinced that the frozen food company to which I refer, is a BREXIt casualty, it is a manufacturer not a warehouse, and being outside the uk will not be any beneficiary of UK specific hoarding. As explained to me, because the assets of the company ..the manufacturing plant, is denoted in company accounts as sterling, they tanked, and the company ran out of operating funds. .because the sales prices did not cover manufacturing overheads.

I wouldn't say I was fluent but I get by.

You can't blame the British for everything. I get it's convenient but it doesn't make it true.

The prices were the same in the Irish owned supermarkets. Extortionate and it's not because they buy off British supermarkets... As if they would do that.

Southend on Sea
wooshbikes.co.uk
useful website.
I just found out that living in Southend on Sea is one third cheaper than London.
Consumer Prices Including Rent in Southend-on-Sea are 32.25% lower than in London
https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=United+Kingdom&city1=London&country2=United+Kingdom&city2=southend-on-sea

that should explain why I charge one third less for my bikes...

I can only go by what I saw.

Ireland’s villages are as expensive as London. Paris is much more expensive than London.
I think your calculations and price comparisons are skew. If you were to compare the price of a l 2500 sq ft house in Wexford ( where you have been) with anything in the greater London area, you will find no comparison.. I might suggest a ratio of 10:1 . If you buy prime steak in irish butchers and compare with what passes for same in England, you will find little relationship..other than both are red. . If you seek public transport,on buses and trains , you will find better value in Ireland,. But in certain areas, cars for instance, the UK has a decided advantage.
I cannot talk about Paris, but the cost of living in rural France is low, except for designer stuff.

I wish you were exporting more Angus beef here! To keep this brexit themed the worst steak I ever ate in my life was in a Holiday Inn in Massachusetts, that is what the brexit mob want for post brexit UK.

I did have a reasonable steak in Boston - it was in an Irish steak house and the meat was from Argentina of course. The reason I was able to get into that particular steak house was because I was with an Irish immigrant, the bouncer didn't let non Irish origin people in! I know, I didn't believe it until I experienced it. Then I had experienced similar in London getting into a German Language only club in the West End...

We voted out so that deal is gone.

Why are you so scared about us leaving the EU?

Why does it worry you so? Have you got a dog in the fight?

We will be leaving. It’s just how.

I’d be looking at an EFTA type deal without Schengen. I think that’s doable.
'Why are you so scared about leaving the EU'....I sell to every EU country, over £2million per annum,a business that I started from nothing,I see massive disruption in trade between the UK and EU,whatever deal or no deal is concluded,EU buyers will soon get fed up with paying for vat and duty before they receive their goods. I have staff with kids/mortgages who now see a possibility of their well paid jobs going just because of Brexit....some of these voted Brexit but now regret their vote, some admitting their own stupidity.
The home market is flat because customers are worried about their jobs, everything is more expensive because the £vDollar and £vEuro is weak.
And you ask why are we scared leaving the EU.
KudosDave

No but they buy a lot of the staples from British distributors.

But it stands to reason that countries have armies, and a single country called Europe or USE would be no different.
.
That has absolutely nothing to do with point raised.,which was the EU said nothing of an army in their future development article and was offered as evidence as how things can abd do change.

It is called "evolution" wasn't Darwin one of yours? Nobody expected an orange coloured git to put the future of NATO at risk at the time.

As I pointed out elsewhere armies in the EU have been very keen on getting together, even more so than politicians, particularly the British army. Maybe they are fed up of your politicians sending them of on stupid missions and feel the EU would do a better job of deciding what a decent cause to defend would be?

I daresay they 'admit they're stupid' for fear of upsetting the boss as he rants on about remaining.

You should use this time to find other markets. When I was in New York recently every other bike was electric. Huge market there. Th world isn't just 27 countries to the right of us.

Try and have an open mind and this may even work out to be a positive thing.

Staples like what?

HP Sauce? Heinz Ketchup? Marmite? Diablo wine? Baby stuff? Meat?

They are all owned by massive conglomerates apart for the meat and that was a chain too.

Hugely over priced. As I say. Nearly three times as much as here.

And I'm still confused about this frozen food place. Was it based in the UK?

The BBC just announced that the Government has indicated that any form of Brexit will shrink the economy
Oh! I am shocked!
How can this be when leave voters "knew what they were voting for?"

After all 17.5 Million Voters can't be wrong......they were too well informed for that, people tried to sell them "project fear" but they saw through it didn't they?

It's a Remainer plot! that's what it is!

Since 2004 electric bikes were banned in New York
As below

"Any two wheeled vehicle that can move without Human assistance or NOT be registered as a motor Vehicle is illegal to use on City Streets"

Are you confirming that this 2004 law has been rescinded?
