I checked the PDF details - produced from Word on a Mac virtually no information except the document is identified as something like Draft 5c. Not even final, approved, or whatever.

I think I'd be proud of a document that was being widely distributed, had I written it. (Not, I hasten to add, that document.)

How do zero hours contracts work in practice? This tweet is sufficient to let even the most unaware understand.

View attachment 27795

This is the future unless we have a change of government away from the evil combination of oligarchic and plutocratic protection of the interests of the establishment to the detriment of the ordinary people. 'Brexit', if it comes about, will mean the employment method described in the tweet will become the norm for millions.

It's all about supply and demand, How many workers from Poland are working at this warehouse?
If the warehouse were struggling to find or replace workers they would not dare send anybody home.
It reminds me of men standing outside the mine/docks gates and being picked for a days work, We have gone back 100 years.
At least Jeremy has said he will ban zero hours contracts.

I have news for you there were men standing outside the dock gates and our factory looking for work in the late 1950's
And in the 1970's my job description read
You are not employed on a fixed hours basis, you are required to be available whenever and wherever required.
What did this actually mean? I had as my patch the entire British Isles.
Interestingly my reading of that at the time was that I was actually employed 24/7! on the credit side I was on a fixed Salary
Of course at that time I had never heard of a "Zero hours contract"
And the workforce were to a man and woman described on their contracts as casual labourers, even the skilled men
Casual labour definition:
people who are employed on a temporary , rather than a permanent or regular basis

This has me puzzled
Toppling May risks 'most appalling chaos', says Jeremy Hunt

What are the odds that we would notice?

How to run for the top job
"Steve Baker says leading Brexiteers should "draw lots" to decide who should be their PM candidate. DRAW LOTS TO BE PRIME MINISTER. Quote: "We would need to stick them in a room... decide amongst yourselves even if you have top draw lots which one of you is our candidate."

My previous proposal of having them line up and sprint for the exit at the sound of a bell would at least employ the Darwinian Principle of survival of the fittest.:D

The government dragging the UK towards 'Brexit' disaster and which refuses to listen to any advice, ideas or suggestions from dissenters of any description are blatantly disregarding, not only UK-based opposition but the voice of the UN special investigator, Philip Alston:

Who responded from the UK government? The despicable Amber Rudd, an evil woman who is unfit to represent decent people anywhere after her performance as Home Secretary in the 'Windrush' matter.

Head in the sands or what?

The EU caused this situation.
Nonsense, most EU countries ban or strictly control any use of zero hours contracts and the EU is preparing further laws against them.

Only half a dozen of the 28 EU countries still have them fully legally, and they are soon to be constrained by the EU. In Europe it's the UK which is the major user of these contracts, caused by Tory governments and the pseudo Tory New Labour government following the same policies.

I really don't know why your comment about her is so vicious.
What did she do to deserve your venom?

What is good here is that despite the snarky comments, snide remarks and even downright rudeness acceptance of the vote finally seems to have sunk in.

This wasn't the case a couple of months ago. Some progress has been made at least.

Where do you get your idea that the pro-remain posters here accept the vote?

Given the extremely questionable basis of the referendum (on many grounds), I doubt any of the pro-remain people here accept it.

Or many of the dupes who voted for it either, they would have to be lacking in the thinking department knowing what they do now

It has always been so with those people. Sadly, they retain the right to vote!

Tom

You would have laws to stop people voting?

Very undemocratic Tom the Liar.

Is that why you love the EU so much? I thought it was because of convenience to your bolt hole in Spain. Now it seems you have a more sinister reason to control the will of the people in a country you don't even live in.

Very interesting
