On question time there was the usual....democracy,will of the people,responses.
How is it democratic that we ended up with 30 extreme right wing Tories now steering parliament and steering the country?
What threats do these 'bastards' have over Theresa May?
It has echos of the 1930's when Hitler took over Germany with a relatively small number of Nazis that brainwashed a disillusioned public and ended up seizing power.....the current power grab attempt by the government is a worrying trend. You have to say that the cabinet have done a good job in neutralizing parliament.

Fascism always attracted the easily led, and as we see, it still does!
It's simple Modus Operandi is....

1. Convince people they have a Threatening Enemy
2. Tell them they are traitors if they don't agree to your plan. (a plan as we have seen is optional here)
   
3. Promise the Earth (on the side of a Bus)
   
4. Then hold them in vice like grip to exploit them with thunderous threats and scurrilous character assassinations of the opposition in the media
   
5. Brexit finally comes with a Fanfare and a great roll of drums,
6. Disaster and disorder follows and It all ends in tears

It works every time, Gives the appearance of being a huge success,and eventually comes to grief in the same catastrophic way.

However our local Fascisti can't even get the "appearance of huge sucess" right as that required not just a puppet press, it requires someone who has real organisational talent.

And let's be honest, no one can accuse any of our Politicians of that!

The most cogent reaction to Mr's May's speech was in the Independent.

"Today, Open Britain are outside Mansion House giving out cake to people attending Theresa May's speech. The UK Government has been accused of trying to have its cake and eat it - journalists turning up for the speech this afternoon will no doubt be happy to do both.

Brexit should have "Someone left the Cake out in the rain" as it's theme song!

at no point did she seem to acknowledge that we're going from being part of the club, to competing with the club. The businesses in the EU are going to want to suck all the industry out of the UK, no matter what she wants.

At least that's realistic, but considering the importance to us of financial services it's a crazy position to take. They really do seem to have some suicidal tendencies.

she has softened the brexiters with the role of the ECJ.

a) accept that we can't have cake and eating it (access to SM won't be as good)
b) accept the ECJ jurisdiction in all the areas that we continue to participate in (Euratom, Erasmus, Pharmaceuticals, Aviation)
c) accept binding agreement regarding keeping food standards - again, may be fudged to accept ECJ jurisdiction.
d) tell the EU (quite rightly) that any deal is cherry picking

It seems that the only card that the hard brexiters still hold is controlling EU immigration. Can someone remind the brexiters that EU migration is now only a quarter of non-EU immigration?

The Pound remains unchanged. I was expecting a small gain - may be Monday.

I've not been watching in detail... but from the highlights I've seen, the £ has been rising all this week pretty much since Labour announced they wanted to keep is in the Common Market.

it did go up in the morning JC made his speech, peaking at $1.406 - then dropped back in the afternoon, presumably after the journalists analysed his speech and decided that it was the same cherry cake - not the same cake mix but still cherry cake.
