Answer me this Danidl..If the EU can offer any help at all towards social reform ( as claimed again and again on here) why were the Tories originally campaining to stay ..To quote OG and Tom...thats like turkeys voting for Christmas.
They voted to remain, Because not to do so would upset the Financial Status Quo, Why do you think Labour also had the same idea?
You can't answer that, can you? and why did Labour change sides when they had made a judgement?
Brexiit already has caused Financial damage and it is getting worse, the Tories just think they can work a swindle to their advantage from the wreckage of the established order, and the rest of us can suffer.

Labour seem to have decided Socialism is only a local issue and not an international one.
They have still not gone back to the basic principle that it must be a world wide movement.

Can I borrow your Enigma machine OG.
You must have switched your spell check and sense sensor off on this one.
But you are right, I cant answer that , at all. Could only just read it, my phone wouldn't keep still ...bouncing up and down . Think it was laughing.
Never liked Quo..

A cyber attack on the NHS! One wonders what kind of mind would choose such a target?.......unless it has been bought and paid for by the sort of rich people intent on de-funding and discrediting the institution, hoping that such speculation will be repaid a thousandfold in the future.

I don't know why but the name 'Branson' keeps coming into my head right now but it's probably just a coincidence that he is suing the NHS because they failed to award him a contract recently.

And Branson incidently is currently organising more remain action from his private Island (Necker)...
And guess who he,s big big mates with , and who often joins him...His Toniness..
What a pair of ...... You can fill in the gaps.

Come on Tom, you must think something is wrong with EU when Branson and Blair both want UK in it????

I was watching Frankie Boyle on TV the other day. He said that if he had Branson's wealth, he would spend it all on towing Branson's island to Syria.

Good answer..again. You should be a lawyer.
It also raises the issue of our right wing press and their collective attempts to now get us out the EU...Yes ,they have always spread the rubbish about EU ( straight banana directive etc etc) but Osborne's scaremongering was given plenty of tabloid space and not ridiculed at all. Now the same press is supporting May. Nobody seems to be mentioning this fickle attitude of press. The common strand is ofcourse Labour..the press are simply anti socialist. but just like our government they have actually performed a U turn on Brexit.
When they were pro staying ( ie supporting Osborne/ Cameron) there was little criticism. Now they are pro leaving, well that's now different.

The EU would always have been happier with a more socially inclusive national parliament.. more akin to the majority of other European countries
... I don't want to comment on specific UK parliamentary personnel, but my feeling would have been that the previous adminstration was sufficiently satisfied with the status quo...eg better the devil you know etc let sleeping dogs lie etc ... They had had a modus operandi which worked, so why rock that boat. Once the sky fell in there was no plan b, they walked away and a debacle and scramble ensured. Then the scenario changed, and new opportunities arise as per my previous post.

I cannot comment on UK newspapers, I do not read them, irrespective of orientation.

By their stance on 'Brexit', the tories have amply demonstrated that they really don't give a toss for the peoples of NI, Scotland and Gibraltar. That they are prepared to risk the dissolution of the United KIngdom and the possible closure of the open border between north and south in Ireland in order to satisfy the rabid right-wing extremists, speaks volumes about their interest in improving the lot of British people. (I'm conscious here that 4% is not really the will of the British people - it's the will of just over one half of those who bothered to vote.......on one particular day.......in an advisory referendum.)

While some mention has been given occasionally to the situation of EU citizens living in the UK and more particularly, those UK citizens living in the other 27 EU states, I'm not sure people really understand what is happening there. The prospect for Brits living in the EU is worse than I had imagined and this piece from 'The Guardian' describes it very well:

the-brexit-trap-thats-closing-on-britons-who-live-in-europe

The numbers are interesting, as are the differences in effect between British citizens abroad and EU citizens in the UK. It's worthy of a read.

Isn't the Right wing press wonderful? in the Sun this morning is this Graphic

So We Spend £35 Billion to have the following
Tanks 249
Total Aircraft 856
Aircraft Carriers 2 (no Aircraft)

And Russia Spends £34.6 Billion and has
Tanks 20,216
Total Aircraft 3,794
Aircraft Carriers 1
Good to know this paper regards accuracy of reporting highly when it comes to defence spending, and is critical of the Labour Manifesto costings.

Which we are you today, the French we or the UK we?...

It is good for the economy! How will the military industrial complex make ends meet if you don't spend all those billions to defend the empire? Oh wait a minute...

I have accepted that there is a bit of hypocrisy in my view on brexit but should I be driven out of this thread for my divided loyalty?
