Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think this was an intended outcome of BREXIT and I am sceptical that the above will ever result in the forced repatriation of these people, if they do exist.
But if I may, in your words "we don't know because brexit hasn't happened yet". We can't tell if this is the outcome of brexit or not until it happens. We can have good guess though, as more and more stories of residency refusal surface week after week. And the ones that make the press don't seem to be the kind of people who only came here for benefits...

I'm of the view that Mrs Mayhem should stand down from office now. She could have acted previously with the propriety incumbent upon the office of PM and accepted the verdict of the lower court.

Instead, she chose at huge expense, though not to herself, to challenge the decision in some vainglorious attempt to be proved right in that, as PM, she has executive power to do whatever she pleases.

She was a failure as Home Secretary and is already a failure in an office for which the charmless woman has neither the nous nor the intellect.

The word intended is important in that sentence!
My wife had lived here and worked in the nhs for over 20 years. She doesn't have a UK passport. Not for that matter do I.
IF parliament votes for brexit is she guaranteed that she can remain here, in her job? We'll have to see what watertight legislation they come up with to protect her...

probably sent during work time
I think your wife and other people facing a similar situation have nothing to worry about. They will continue to be welcome in the UK.

It's just the anti-BREXIT mob whipping up hysteria.

This article relates to a Columbian family name Rivera. KTM's post didn't relate to this case at all, so we don't know whether they exist.

It seems like the neighbour was taken to court and prosecuted for his anti-social & racially abusive behaviour. He was found guilty and sentenced, which is the correct process.

What does this have to do with repatriation of foreign nationals post BREXIT. Answer, nothing.

This is yet another example of incorrectly and irresponsibly blaming an unacceptable incident on BREXIT.

are you insane, or just not able to read? The German bosses were the ones the "Leave" representatives chose to meet. So they were chosen by the people who are pro Brexit.
I don't believe that I am insane, at least when I had my last aircrew medical, which includes a mental health assessment, all appeared to be OK. Reading seems to be functioning as well.

Look, they can posture, stamp there feet and shout boo-hoo as loud as they like. However when it comes to a lot of cash or being principled enough to sacrifice cash for the sake of an EU ideal, cash WILL win. It's the same story in all walks of life.

You are lost in your denial, so much so that you can't see the wood for the trees. You displayed similar sentiments with regard to the murder of Jo Cox MP.

Tom
Tom, I think you are getting over-excited again. These conspiracy theories are taking you over. You will be telling us that Elvis is alive and living in a converted double decker bus on the moon next. Calm down and have a mug of Horlix.

Jo Cox's murder was a terrible racially motivated tragedy. The killer has been caught and hopefully, will never be released. The Rivera family's life was made miserable by a racist old idiot who has been successfully prosecuted.

The judgement today was interesting in as much as it completely ignores the democratic fact that there is a parliament in Scotland, an assembly in both Wales and NI, two of those with majority 'remain' populations. It seems that only the Westminster view counts so these devolved parts of the nation mean nothing when it comes down to it in the eyes of the judiciary.

Will the Westminster government rely again on Irish, Welsh and Scottish regiments to fight for the rich elite when they next go to war.......even though those countries may not wish to participate in any more futile battles arranged by greedy people?

A strange situation!

I don't think the court ruling will frustrate BREXIT. I don't think Parliament or The Lords will stand in the way. Their stance seems to be softening.

It's not strange when you consider that the UK was asked to vote on the UK's future membership of the EU.

How far do you want to break this down? By county, borough, town, street? The vote was a UK wide issue and we know what the UK decided to do.

Tom I tend to be in agreement with most of what you post, but in this instance I must differ. .. the parliaments in Wales and Scotland ,,and Northern Ireland are all creatures of the Westminster parliment, as such they are subsidiary to the Westminster one. These regions also send MPs to the Westminster one. So it is appropriate that the Westminster parliment can speak for all these regions. They are simply devolved regional councils, with any powers given on a grace and favour basis from their parent.

I don't think the court had any alternative since the referendum was about UK membership of the EU. These regional governing bodies are not involved in UK wide matters, defence for example, only issues that can be separated as functions for them are within their remit.

The hope is that we'll realise before its too late that the right wing, nationalistic, inward looking views currently being pushed will not solve the issues and is just pandering to a populist view point dominated by old white guys (no offense to any old white guys who don't fit this stereotype), looking for other people to blame for the failings of their generation.
I've held back from challenging this previously, but I'm sure it's untrue. The views we saw of people celebrating the Brexit vote showed that youngish and middle aged people dominated, with little signs of the older males. The oft repeated shot of the North-East celebration with the youngish woman who'd campaigned for Brexit being raised on shoulders is typical. The West Midlands celebrations looked similar.

This thread repeats that theme, the white male old'uns like Old Groaner, Old Tom and myself all remainers and collecting plenty of likes and agrees from other older members.

While Zlatan, Tillson and others who are patently not very old are ardent Brexiters.

All been rather a futile waste of time and money if MPs vote ( as they are now saying) to trigger article fifty. Wonder how much money judges and lawyers have made since Gina Miller initiated the court proceedings.
