To be fair I have read that and worse on this thread.
It has been questioned on several occasions why there is a distinct lack of participants on this thread, particularly in respect to input from the leavers corner. I will give my viewpoint on this. I have followed and digested every single post from the beginning, and have been prompted to reply on several occasions but I just cannot bring myself to do so. The reason? I highly dislike both the tone and vitriol of the main protagonists. This is a shame as there is some good content from said individuals, but emotions have on many occasions simply become way out of control. Put bluntly, if I was in a pub having the same discussion with you gents I would have finished up my Bishops Finger and left gracefully some time ago, for you to punch it out at closing time whilst I supped my nightcap in front of the fire. Unfortunately, the situation here is nothing new, I have personally seen long term friendships end over disagreements between their referendum choice and it seems that certain individuals find it impossible to show restraint with the way they communicate. Further compounding the matter on this particular thread is the mob mentality which I highly dislike and I would feel exactly the same if it was from the leavers.
To be frank I am amazed that this thread has not been locked, especially given the otherwise friendly and polite tone shown everywhere else on the site.
By the way I voted remain, but as stated above I will not post my comments on Brexit as I would not feel comfortable with others feeling I was sidelining/supporting certain other individuals on here.
Make of the above what you will. It will be my first and last post on the thread. My only hope is that a new member may read it and will not make judgement on the rest of the site that we are all a shower of emotionally charged animals.
If I may point out a few observations of my own.
"To be frank I am amazed that this thread has not been locked, especially given the otherwise friendly and polite tone shown everywhere else on the site."
I suspect that it hasn't as the Moderators take the view that Discussion is a good thing, and that "Nuking the City" is not the perfect solution to dealing with the couple of trouble makers among the inhabitants.
And I would point out that the main protagonists are quite evenly matched, and many of the exchanges are not without a certain humour.
"I have followed and digested every single post from the beginning, and have been prompted to reply on several occasions but I just cannot bring myself to do so. The reason? I highly dislike both the tone and vitriol of the main protagonists."
That is disappointing, and yet you stayed with us thus far, so there must have been some reason for doing so, surely?
The subject under discussion does indeed engender strong passions, and quite rightly so, as it is of central importance to the future, and for that reason I hope that the thread continues, as to just going by the vast numbers of reads it has had, it engages a high level of interest.
For my own behaviour where it has offended apologies are extended,
