But in return the Chinese want to build their own reactor technology at Bradwell in Essex, giving their nuclear industry a foothold in the West.

The government says that it will take a "special share" in future nuclear projects to prevent stakes being sold without consent.

Taking back control eh? now we are going to let the Chinese build their Nuclear reactors here?

Here is a matter which, although something of an aside to the topic of this thread, nevertheless has some relevance as it concerns one, Boris Johnson, who is successor to Mrs May as foreign secretary.

Johnson, not noted for any parliamentary debating skills or indeed, anything else, is one of the gang of three appointed by the said Mrs May to negotiate the best deal possible for the UK in any possible 'Brexit' discussions, should Article 50 be triggered.

those predictions are meant for after brexit. We are still in the transition period before brexit. The BoE devalued the Pound, immediately loads the damage onto the consumers and spares businesses. In other times, people would be very alarmed if the Pound drops suddenly 12% in value.
The shock will eventually spread out when the effect of job losses hit industries.

Yet it came as the day MG announced a 130% surge UK sales.

In other words we have been judged and found wanting, and unlike the Japanese, the Chinese didn't even give us a warning first.
And the true reason is fear of losing easy access to the EU, which is why they bought into MG in the first place.

Tell me, how much worse will things get till you realise the "predictions of doom as you called them were actually simply stating the obvious? and actually not exaggerations at all?
And that is after just taking the vote, remember there is still no plan either is there.

According to an account of the meeting in New York between Mrs May and US bank bosses, Mrs May declined to provide information about how the British government would approach the Brexit negotiations, other than pursuing a deal that was “in the national interest”.
The US bankers warned they could not wait to discover the final outcome of the two-year Article 50 negotiations before making major investment decisions that could see thousands of UK jobs shift to Europe.

That's between 40,000 and 80,000 high paid City jobs.

Boris,Gove etc lied about how they were going to spend the money saved by not making EU contributions,in hindsight it doesn't look like any of that money is going to the pledges promised. In fact Hammond is going to have to raid other budgets to make up the farmers budgets and research budgets,the NHS won't get a penny.
I am surprised that Leavers are not shouting at Boris,after all the lies he told.
For most the vote was about immigration control and none understood the effects on the economy. Osborne and Cameron did not understand that project fear was not going to work,if you have nothing you have nothing to lose,ironically they should have pointed out that a can of Special Brew was likely to rise in price or that benefits were likely to be cut if the tax haul fell away.
There is a big group of 16 million,maybe more now who are not currently being represented,yet there are 450 MPs and most of the House of Lords who are currently silent...I think Osborne is building a team to harness this power ,to compete with May and the Brexiters... There could yet be a lot of internal fighting within the Tory party that will make it impossible to trigger Article 50, the legal challenge due next month will delay things whilst the ' common sense remainers' assemble their Tory/SNP/Blairite opposition.

Hows this for Blatant propaganda? the Daily Mail Front Page
On the view front pages today site carries a 72 point banner headline
Patients at risk from EU Doctors, implying of course that they are not properly qualified, but Brexit will sort them out, it assures us.
Even if it turns out some are, why have they been allowed to practice?
And even more interesting, the online version of the paper has no mention of this blatant propaganda ANYWHERE on the site.

It seems to me that the brexiteers in the cabinet have nothing constructive to say.

Rarely has the British public been so conned as on the 'Brexit' premise and the hype surrounding it provided by right-wing extremists of little political talent.

They never had any evidence or facts to support their claims pre-referendum which are now widely recognised as being blatant lies and now, they are flying on a wing and a prayer, hoping for some miracle to improve their position.

It's time parliament got to grips with the situation instead of shilly-shallying and took a vote to determine an up-to-date position. Clarity and direction are desperately required so, if we must invoke Article 50, let's get to it with a parliamentary mandate to reflect the view of the people 13 weeks ago.

If no such mandate is achieved, then the matter should be filed away, never to be revived during this parliament.

Once again there appear to be two separate versions of the Mail, with the more sensational version in print...curious that!

Perhaps even more curious is a You Gov poll that suggests May is hugely popular with the electorate.
Now that, considering how the Express and Mail keep attacking her, is remarkable to say the least.

Perhaps when the Japanese carmakers review their European market situation and decide to copy the strategic decision made recently by the Chinese owners of the MG brand at the Longbridge plant, the penny will drop.
