Obese patients face NHS surgery ban to save money
Officials at the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group said the decision came at a time when the local system was under "severe pressure".
The move will see a ban on, for example, hip and knee operations.
The Royal College of Surgeons described the restrictions as some of the most severe the modern NHS has ever seen.
'Discriminatory'
The restrictions will apply to patients with a body mass index of 30 or above which indicates obesity, as well as smokers.
If, however, the patient can shed 10% of their weight, they could be referred within the year.
The new rules will only apply to elective surgery for non-life threatening conditions.
Chris Hopson, the head of NHS Providers representing acute care, ambulance and community services, said it was a real worry that there had been a number of decisions like this.
NHS bosses now believed they have reached the point where the health service was simply being asked to deliver too much for the funding that is available.
Now the good news
Brexit has made £350 million pounds available for the NHS!

Presumably because of my presence in various online discussion I receive emails from a left wing organisation calling itself 38 Degrees.

He's still as big a chump as ever. If any deal includes even the slightest shred of any EU law, withdrawal from rulings of this court will be impossible since it is the only arbiter on EU law.
The only way to avoid the influence of this court is to walk away from the EU without any attempt to reach a deal, and also replace every element of 44 years of EU law within our legislation.
That can never happen.

I thought Boris's 4 demands were what Theresa May was working towards anyway,just don't see the need for Boris to put it in a letter. Unless of course he wants the public to associate him with these ideas and keep the Leavers happy that he is actually doing something.
But these tasks are not his job,he is Foreign Secretary not in charge of Brexit.
I wish someone would ask him about the £8 billion he promised to spend on the NHS.

If only we had a bit of patience...the countries of Poland,Czech,Hungary and Lithuania are all very concerned that unlimited migration would cause considerable ISIS terrorist risks within the migrants.
There is a movement within many EU countries that some control of people movement is essential,David Cameron would have had a very sympathetic ear if we had waited.
If immigration was not on the referendum decision the Remainers would have won easily,it appears to me that many people are prepared to lose everything provided we control immigration,I don't agree with that in any way.

Actually I suspect that the truth is that people who voted for Brexit simply don't believe it will cost them a penny.
That doesn't mean they are prepared to "lose everything" ,more that they will raise hell when the pain of loss becomes apparent,as the EU and specially immigrants were in their eyes the source of the loss they have already sustained.
Woe to the Government of the day when the lie is finally exposed, and clear enough for even the dimmest of the Brexit supporters to understand.

What have we got to sell that people can't get somewhere else and pay less for?
The service sector dominates the UK economy, contributing around 78% of GDP
So manufacturing can only contribute 22% and the Government seem more concerned over control of immigrants which will reduce the money coming into the economy, making matters worse, than preserving the Service sector which we absolutely depend on.
The only free trade worth bothering about now is the services industry, manufacturing is just icing on the cake, and most of that cannot be relied upon not to leave these shores at the first opportunity. as only a quarter of our industry is British owned.

I waited to see if the £ v US dollar is strengthening back towards 1.45,but we seem to be at a new level at 1.30 ish. Spent the last week repricing over 4000 products,with an average price rise of 10%, shame we have had very few price rises over the last 5 years,it will be inflationary.
I hope leavers are happy for leaving to hit their pockets.
I was amused listening to a lady in a supermarket queue checkout who was moaning about how few euros she got for her Spanish holiday....she said that if she knew it would hit her holiday money she wouldn't have voted to leave. It was in my mind,amusingly,that soon the content of her basket would cost 10% more....still Brexit means Brexit,you reap what you sow.

There were many who voted Brexit in the hope that the restriction on immigration would make it easier to get a well paid job in the UK.
I was having a chat with one of my auto parts dealers who specialises in ally wheel sales,alloy wheels have a 22% anti-dumping duty from China,mainly to protect the German wheel manufacturing industry but it also protects what is left of our own wheel industry.
Liam Fox is determined to sign a free trade deal with India and China.
Can Vote Leave imagine if all the protection tariffs and duty are removed from goods already cheap from China and India, what effect that will have on what remains of our manufacturing industries....leavers have to look at the bigger picture,a few vacancies may be thrown up by the EU workers going home but this will be insignificant against our entire manufacturing going to Asia.
