Strange that a Brexiter complains that the EU should be more autocratic, but doesn't want that rule extended to us.
die hard brexiters want that cannot be delivered by any government.

So you accept eu/ Luxembourg is behaving immorally at its core but still support our staying within it ??? I cant follow that logic flec.
Luxembourg isn't the EU, it's just an extremely tiny part of it. The saying "throwing the baby out with the bath water" springs to mind. And as I've explained previously, it's the end objective of a European Union I have in mind when supporting the EU, not all the troublesome things en route.

I wonder what Eu would be saying if we instigated same tax regime as Luxembourg???
But we do in, but in a more clever and hidden way. We knowingly support a system by which giant companies break up their accounts into mutiple obscure companies and route the monies in complex steps via our Crown Dependancies and the Republic of Ireland. That's designed to reduce tax liabilities and at the same time make the money almost impossible to trace or identify. I think that's far more sneaky and morally criminal than what Luxembourg does, at least they are completely open about it and their ordinary citizens benefit. In our system we ordinary people get no benefit, we just suffer the lost tax revenue.

So all you doubters of Mays Brexit credentials, and living in hope protesters, have you heard the cabinet she is putting together. I think that seals her intentions don't you
Perhaps we can conclude or agree just this one small
point? Without buts and maybes and counter arguments,
Not sure about the choice of David Davis,he is a confirmed Leave campaigner,he had a spat with Ed Miiliband on Question time......when asked what the UK would look like away from the EU,would it be like Norway,Switzerland,Albania,Canada....he answered it wouldn't be like any of them,it would have a special EU-UK relationship, whatever that means?
Yes I think she has been very clever in putting all the foreign trade under the control of Brexiteers....Boris,Foreign Secretary,Liam Fox,Trade Deals,David Davis,Brexit Secrtary....it cannot have failed to notice that all this team are Leave campaigners.
The job looks almost impossible, there are massive legal and negotiation obstacles to overcome to get us out of the EU,Philip Hammond suggested minimum 6 years for the task and there is still the repeal of the 1972 European Communities Act to overcome.....note that the new candidate for Labour,Owen Smith,is pushing hard for a second referendum or a General Election,by the arithmetic Labour are important.
If you think about it,May has been very clever.....she can show in the short term by these appointments that 'Brexit meansBrexit'.....when the leavers get frustrated that progress is slow, she can point out that she has the best team on the job,but it is difficult....when that team fails, she can cull the lot of them as failures, get rid of annoying Boris, now branded a failure and say that she tried but is now putting another team in place, full of Remainers to either soft exit or do a U turn and forget Brexit.
Note her home team, those immediate to her are all Remainers, especially Hammond who was very critical of Boris during the referendum campaign.
Boris,Fox and Davis are all being set up to fall.
This lady is crafty, she looks like your favourite Aunt, but is a calculating career politician who has planned this cabinet well to craft the government she wants post 2020,look what she did to Osborne!
Clever lady.

flud, you seem to build your arguments more or less entirely on examples.
That's called inductive reasoning.

I
i agree with what you say except for two things - her record at the home office (think about her support for the detention of david Miranda, or the snoopers charter; she can I fear have the kind of delusional right wing tantrums that could cost us all very dear with her as prime minister); also the favourite aunt bit, like most I too had a blighted childhood, but none of my aunts were quite that rabidly squinting for someone to denigrate.

I
Have to say, I agree with this. She can't loose now can she. If they negotiate a deal the UK is happy with, she wins. If they can't, she can blame them, and she'll be rid of possibly the major threat to her long term prospects as PM, so she wins again.

Its a big game.

Long ago I had her down as potentially another Thatcher, opinionated, domineering and taking advice from no-one. As P.M. she's looking that way already.

You are absolutely thinking same as me,but the media wont latch onto it at the moment, although I am sure they are thinking it,wait until May is under pressure,it has much more impact.
You have got to say,she has chosen cleverly. Boris is no fool,he knows he is being stitched up,thats why he looked so glum when he came out of No 10,but at the moment he cant do much about it.
A point of principle will occur at some moment,he will resign saying she is anti-Brexit,its his only way out.
'YOU MAY THINK IT,BUT I COULDN'T POSSIBLY COMMENT',!!!!

They are already calling her Maggie May.

I expect Rod will re-release the song.

Boris may regret his little poem, when,as a diplomat,he next has to visit Turkey, this poem is I am sure now worldwide, hehe.

I’m pleased to announce that we have a winner of The Spectator’s President Erdogan Offensive Poetry competition, and here it is:

There was a young fellow from Ankara

Who was a terrific wankerer

Till he sowed his wild oats

With the help of a goat

But he didn’t even stop to thankera.

The author of this winning entry is former Mayor of London and chief Brexiteer, Boris Johnson MP.

... because we're not leaving the EU anytime soon, so the panic is starting to subside a bit. Clearly ;)

I admire your optimism, repeat after me,
We're all leavers now
I've put a bet on us staying in, I'm that confident.

I think it'll get bounced around that long that the generation that voted us out will have died ;)

The under 50s voted remain, and so did london, do you think any party would go against that sort of power... ie the money and the future?

If we were going to leave they'd have submitted article 50 by now. The fact they haven't is because they are looking for an excuse. They will find one., because even the people who lead the leave campaign didn't want to win.

Can you tell me one good reason, and one bad reason for submitting article 50 in such a hurry, like day 1 of a new government, come on

the independent has helpfully compiled a map all the countries Boris Johnson has insulted
He's ahead of the Duke of Edinburgh in this respect, though Edinburgh has also insulted the press which Boris Johnson spent much of his life working for. So on that basis I'd say they're level pegging for insulting others.
