Brexit, for once some facts.

Read all that stuff.. and then went to see on line whether there was any response from EITHER Johnson or the DoD in the ensuing months .. March, April May, June ..and surprise ...no response from Johnson in respect of this topic . Now if it were real would you not have expected at least a peep!.
What exactly are you suggesting isn't real?
That there wasn't a hearing and/or senator Ron Johnson didn't actually request the information?
The claimed 'whistleblowers' in the US forces aren't real?
There claimed increases in adverse events aren't real ?
All of the above ???

Oh he made the request all right ... that's there in black and white . I have no idea whether the claimed adverse events are real, related, or causal . But I would have expected some public comment within the last 4 months. We have real genuine "whistleblowers " , and we also have" fruit and nut cases " , and people who are so blinded by their own self of importance that objective facts don't matter.

It's going to be truss
stock market reaction is a little negative.
it's clear that PM Truss will stoke inflation, mortgage rate increase and house price decline.
More inflation = more strikes over pay. Someone should explain that to those tory members that have a big mortgage. What would they do if they already pay 40% of their take home pay when interest rate shoots up from 1.25% to 5%+
Tories are suckers to tax cuts.

It was a forgone conclusion.
There will be another debate on 04 August on Sky.

While Liz Truss was speaking in the debate this evening the presenter collapsed did she fall asleep due to boredom or did she loose the Will to live and just decide eff it I’m just going to fall down here so I don’t have to listen to this crap anymore?

From where it has reached right now, the best result would be if both contenders collapsed and withdrew. And there really had to be a GE. (Definitely not allowing it to be an excuse for Johnson to withdraw resignation.)

It keeps coming:

UK health department played ‘fast and loose’ when awarding Covid contracts to Randox
Commons public accounts committee issues damning report into £777m spent with firm that employed Owen Paterson as lobbyist

I couldn't be bothered to since these TV public debates make all participants the losers.

It's no longer about the best anyway, it's been reduced to a female vote issue now a woman has been eliminated leaving a woman against a man. The combined female vote will now almost certainly ensure Truss gets to be PM, such is feminist activism now.
.
I thought the tory party consisted mostly of male members.

one sensible member of the conservative party said on the TV: at least Truss comes up with solutions, even if they are not good solutions. Sunak hasn't.
This year, Sunak has planned to borrow £141Bn. Truss will push that up another £30Bln.
No prize for guessing how high the BoE will have to push interest up.

There are no solutions, other than the one nobody wants to hear from someone hoping for election:

We need to pull our belts in, go without and suffer for quite a long while to get us out of the mess we are in.

George Osborne had the right idea with his austerity program. That was abandoned due to the double whammy of Brexit and Covid, but it is still the only sensible policy since there is no prospect of being able to grow our way out of the current malaise.

Alternatively, Boris Johnson's wanting to start World War 3, since that would wipe the slate clean and we'd all be starting from scratch again with nothing.

I am afraid that won't win votes.

Petrol prices are really silly now. 170.9 to 189.9 within sensible area. Even Tesco is 175.9 at Milford Haven and 189.9 in Haverfordwest - in other times they are usually the same.

19p a litre is a big difference.

my local supermarkets put up the price of common items every other week.
I buy regularly condensed milk for my breakfast coffee. A 400g tin has gone up from 85p last year to 105p in 5p steps. Still cheaper than Carnation 155p. Price of ground coffee has gone up hugely too.

Everything in the supermarkets has shot up!

And, of course, though I make my own bread, and currently have plenty of flour, the cost of baking has also shot up.

I used to bake bread too but gave up because of my diabetes. I do buy the occasional sourdough loaf from my local supermarket. The price has gone up from £1.20 now £2.10 for 400g.

I used to bake one loaf, then a second but, in order to reduce fuel usage, I bake both together which has forced some changes to approach. But £2.10 is more than I pay for two loaves - and mine are more than 400g (maybe 600?).
