Difficult to achieve accurate, reliable statistics for consequences like these:

COVID-19 Post-acute Sequelae Among Adults: 12 Month Mortality Risk
Discussion: Patients with a COVID-19 hospitalization were at significantly increased risk for future mortality. In a time when nearly all COVID-19 hospitalizations are preventable this study points to an important and under-investigated sequela of COVID-19 and the corresponding need for prevention.
Crikey. It's back to ordering online for me! No more dashing off to the supermarkets; the second most popular place to get infected, after hospitals...

p.s. There are always bulk buy loo rolls on ebay. ;)

p.ps. If you keep rescheduling three or so orders with Tesco, you'll always have a slot when you need it - reschedule when you don't. Yes it's a bit grey, but I'm never short of supplies.

We have been using supermarkets, etc., throughout. Simply couldn't get any delivery slots to begin with, then had got used to it.

It is relatively quiet here - and mask wearing has continued.

Iceland always seemed to deliver, even early on in the pandemic - Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Asda had stopped accepting new clients, so all I ate was a whole lotta sprouted beans and choc ices for awhile. It's a good job I had ebay loo roll...

With 38 home grown pumpkins (6 month supply), I'm ready for the next phase of covid hell.

Tesco, Morrisons - no slots.
Sainsbury - who are they?
Asda - crap branch and not another for something like fifty miles.

Iceland were good for a neighbour who had major immune issues. But he died a few days ago and using them would be full of massive emotional baggage.

Butchers deliver even small orders, but we tend to prefer going there and having a bit of social contact!

That, oddly, triggered and flood of memories. Pumpkin soup. Working as a waiter (while studying) in the 90s in a restaurant specialising in soups. Having pumpkin soup, even more oddly, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. And, even more oddly, with a merlot (as well as a rather lovely woman I knew at the time). Somehow, even mid pandemic, one has to be able to recapture the je ne sais quo one had when young. Anyway, just saying you could do a lot with those pumpkins

For you, I think that pumpkin related sensory excitements will certainly lead to troublesome excessive friskiness, which may well cause unintended mayhem in your personal life... especially these spring water-fed (short but complicated story) pumpkins of the gourmet Crown Prince variety, which sell for £6 a mere wafery slice, or £30 each (I eat 'em, dont sell). Denser than potatoes, deeply delicious, with a maris piper-like (but denser and more crumbly) floury texture... You're right! I am only now starting to explore their culinary potential... Just missing the rather lovely young woman element ;) (I have Merlot, but their strong flavour even pairs well with a Shiraz).

... heated gloves... made by Sealskinz...

...If I do buy some I will report back to the forum my findings.
I recall contributing to a thread here some time ago discussing heated gloves, and I mentioned the Sealskinz ones back then as I'd been reading a number of very positive reviews about them. But my size was out of stock with Merlin cycles (who usually have the best prices on them) so I didn't end up buying a pair.

Well, since the temperature has significantly dropped, and my old (fairly crappy) heated gloves are starting to fall apart, I did finally pull the trigger myself, and ordered a pair last week. Should be with me today or tomorrow :)
So either I, Nev, or both will hopefully report soon on whether expensive heated gloves actually do work! (the cheap ones usually being pretty crap as they only have heating elements in some areas, and usually not at the fingertips etc where you really need the heat!)
I never, ever thought I'd pay over £100 for a pair of gloves ... but to be honest, I picked up a pair of Scott 'MTB heater' GoreTex cycling boots (not actually electric!) a few years ago, and they transformed the experience of cycling in cold/rain. If the Sealskinz do to my fingers what those boots have done for my feet - it will be worth it!
Fingers crossed. Literally.

Wow! As many as one in five aren't dissatisfied!

Boris Johnson’s ratings hit a record low in Scotland as SNP support stays strong

Ipsos MORI’s Scottish Political Monitor, run in partnership with STV News, finds that the SNP remains the dominant party among Scottish voters. Boris Johnson’s ratings in Scotland have hit a new low: 4 in 5 Scots say they are dissatisfied with the job he is doing as Prime Minister.

If you want your fingers crossed... Try mittens. Actually mittens are a better option for very cold weather. .. or as the remainders said at Brexit time ...and shared by fingers . We better together.

Holy hell! Sounds like you were exposed to many distinct types? It's astonishing that in this day and age, there don't seem to be any treatment options for Asbestosis. All treatments for Mesothelioma look pretty alarming:

Thanks for cheering me up! but it does back up the Doc's advice to carrying on regardless and steer clear of treatments that are better avoided.

I went on the Sealskinz site with the intention of ordering a pair after making that post but unfortunately they have sold out of them. The still had the gauntlet style left and they were on a big discount down something like £175 to £135 if memory serves correctly but I think the gauntlet style might be a bit bulky on a push bike.

Would probably suite a motorbike better. I already have heated grips on my motorbike so heated gloves too would probably be over kill, end up toasting my hands completely lol.

I will keep an eye out over the next day or two to see if they get some more in but they like most other people are probably having supply issues.

I've had an email telling me mine are due to be delivered in the next hour!

Right ... gonna brave the elements and go for a 5k run I think before tea ... don't need heated gloves for that! :)

Edit.
Ok, so they arrived as promised.
I ended up ordering them from:
https://www.sprocketscycles.com/products/sealskinz-cold-weather-heated-cycle-gloves
Which isn't a company I can recall using in the past, but all has been A OK with this particular order. The only problem is, looking at that link ... they now appear to also have totally sold out of all sizes! Glad I ordered mine when I did.

For reference: I typically take a large in glove sizes, however I followed the instructions on the sealskinz website and measured my hands with a tape measure for this order just to be sure. Strangely, it indicated I should order a medium (in fact ... it almost hinted I might just get away with a small !?! but get a size up if you are in between sizes).
So I did as suggested and got the medium. Hmmm... they are a tight squeeze! I probably should have gone with a large as per normal for me - although this might have meant that the finger length would have had a little bit extra as that measurement is good. However its the wrist and main body that's a tad tight. I did read in a previous review that they give a bit with time, so I'm going to stick with these for now, but for anyone with thick wrists or undecided on size - definitely go up in sizing, not down!!

The instructions recommend a 12hr initial charge for the batteries, so I'll try them out in the next couple of days and will indeed report back.

Yes, a lot of people say this, and I imagine that if you have some circulation in your fingers so they do generate heat, its probably good advice.
However I suspect I'm like flecc, in that my fingers are, and always have been since a youngster, stone cold - quite unlike my loving heart ;-)
So in my case, even mittens (which I do actually have), don't work. You HAVE to have active heating if you want to keep functioning in cold weather :-(

I did the same thing, measured with a tape measure and it came out to about a quarter inch or so below the large size so if and when they get some more I will go for the large size. It will be good to hear how you get on with them.

I'm retired and only cycle for pleasures so wont be going out on the bike if its around zero or below. I usually ride down to about 3 or 4 degrees any colder than that and the experience changes from being pleasurable to being really hard work. In my area on the north Wales coast we get strong winds a lot of the time, so when it's say 4 degrees the wind chill brings it well below freezing.

In previous years, I noticed that once they had sold out, they didn't seem to get any more in that season - so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Before I found them in stock in that link I posted above, I NEARLY pulled the trigger on a different make in stock with Amazon called 'Snow Deer'.
These also had fairly good reviews in a number of places, and if you look at the images of them, they look suspiciously similar to the Sealskinz ones! its almost as if they are made in the same factory ...

Edit - note that there are quite a range of those Snow Deer gloves. The ones that are closest to the sealskinz one have "Upgraded Heated Gloves,7.4V 2200MAH Electric Rechargeable Battery Heating Gloves.." in the title.
Interestingly, they also do heated liner gloves as well that looked interesting if you already have mittens etc.

Just remembered ... my wife found the large in stock for me (but I thought I needed the medium !!).
Still seem to be available:
https://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Sealskinz_Waterproof_Heated_Cycle_Gloves/
I've just been back on the Sealskinz site, they had some more in but only the XL size so I was going to leave it until they got the Large size in, however I started reading the reviews and have ordered a pair of the XL size after all. Several of the reviewers said that even after going for the next size up from the recommended they still found the gloves rather tight. I've got fairly long fingers and often have to go for XL when buying gloves so I think they should be ok.

I was profoundly irritated by people offering all manner of health advice 21 years ago, when I had a life-threatening tumour. Mind you, I was angry or fearful pretty much constantly anyway. Looking back, instead of partying like a mad fool about to die - I should have adopted heathier eating and exercise habits to help recovery after surgery, whether it was successful or not. But of course, I didn't... despite my anti-efforts, the surgery was successful, but that particular tumour can return 30 or more years later... so who knows? I exercise and eat a lot healthier now, and if it ekes out a few extra seconds, minutes, hours, days weeks years - it's worth doing; vital if one is responsible for someone else's welfare. It's easy for me to say such things to myself now, but it would have fallen on deaf ears back then. And it might in future.

Considering how small some fines have been, this is pretty significant. And appalling that it happened.

(Mind, when it is the information about little people, it tends to get treated less seriously.)

Cabinet Office fined £500,000 over New Year honours list data breach
Regulator says safety of hundreds of individuals was jeopardised after their addresses were posted online

Is anyone going to come forward and say it was their fault? Accept responsibility. Isn't the PM the one who claims to accept responsibility?
