Sounds about right...

Hancock replies that he is "highly confident we will get things back to normal before 2022"

And that is the final question. Hancock wishes everyone a happy Christmas before scarpering from the lectern.
Another one off for an "Eyesight testing " drive?

Apparently we now have a new, new strain of Coronavirus and it’s more contagious than the new more contagious variant. It started in South Africa and two cases have been identified in the U.K.

Flights from South Africa are still arriving, and two identified cases probably means there are at least 2000 and it’s everywhere. If that’s not quite correct, it will be by Boxing Day. Clowns is now not a strong enough word.
Last time I remember that "variant" word being used re a disease was about this:

Variant CJD (vCJD) is likely to be caused by consuming meat from a cow that had bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, or "mad cow" disease), a similar prion disease to CJD.

Which hardly inspires confidence.

Not my favourite media outlet, but this expresses some of the anger quite well.

‘Clusterf*ck Of Sh*thousery’ – 550 MPs Locked Out Of Crucial Covid Meeting
...
Another MP said: “Just an example of how utterly useless this government is – minister for logistics hosting a really important zoom re. vaccine roll out with Jonathan Van-Tam and used his own Zoom with 100 capacity!

You’ve gotta hand it to ⁦@grantshapps⁩ and the team at ⁦@transportgovuk⁩. The speed and calmness with which they handled this is incredible. https://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55418565

Amid the expectation of an EU-UK agreement, ERG MPs will want to wait until we have seen a legal text and we understand what it means, if our opinion is to have any credibility. @Conservatives @StandUp4Brexit As soon as @10DowningStreet make statement, we will expect to have text

They'll be a tad miffed when the FTA deals is to be scrutinised!:D
It will allow the French to fish in UK waters, just as they wanted.

But true to type Boris will insist that is not what was agreed, just as he did with the departure agreement. The Mail and Express will pick up the bandwagon of insisting the French are just being duplicitous again in saying it was. Avoiding giving offence as usual, our diplomats will say the French have understandably not understood the subtlety of the English language we used and the innuendo it contained.

From then it will be Royal Navy versus the French fishing fleet, once we are able to get our ships working when they get wet.

Whatever about the French the same will not be believed about and by the Dutch. They see diplomacy and subtlety as lies and weaknesses.. And they have little compunction about calling it out.

BJ will claim victory.
He will make the point that we can continue to sell our fish to the EU tariff free. He'll say that we'll got the EU to accept our points and a new system will be created in 5 years which we will have full control of our fish.
He'll say that he's got 50% increase in value for our landing quota. He will say that will create thousands of new jobs and new boats and the industry will prosper 'mightily'.
In fact, a deal is better than no deal and he deserves some credit for keeping the tabloids out of it in the last couple of weeks.
We know that the EU fishing policy preserves stock so it makes sense to remain in it. That means we trade some right to fish for tariff free access to market.

This is the flavour of the comments in the Daily Mail:

“You cannot compromise on freedom and democracy either you have it or you don't. Boris promised us that he'd take us out of EU control but if he compromises and signs this bogus FTA then he's betrayed the UK's bid for freedom.”

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I don’t think he’s going to get the deal through. He could just shat all over the Mail readership I suppose. Yeh he‘ll do that, they will forgive him.

By the time the Mail and Express have finished doctoring the news it will look as if we forced Victory onto an EU unwilling to accept it :D
