THAT is exactly the kind of attitude that sunk the 'Remain' campaign. No attempt to understand why people voted the way they did - just an assumption that they must be stupid and I am SO much more educated and refined from those morons.

Talking down to people just doesn't win votes.
You are wasting your time, they have no concept of how to take people with them. It’s more fun just to take the ****.

It may not. but trump was serious threat to democracy human rights. What does one do faced by that? Different views and respecting them as part of open, mutually respectful dialogue in democracy only works as long as it remains a "healthy family". basic rights are respected, entrenched. I'm glad, for example, biden, those managing the election are not entertaining trumps attempt at power grab. Or having a conversation with him, his followers about it.

Did I say that people were stupid ?.. I made a conscious decision not to visit the USA during the Trump regime, but I am tolerant and can accept that any society can make a mistake.. I would have considered visiting again had Trump got 20% maybe even 30% of the vote , but when virtually 50% of the US population support him, .that is not a place I wish to visit.

It's your tone Danny. You probably can't hear it from within yourself. But to me and probably lots of others it's very obvious.

Either way the only way you get to change things in a democracy is by voting. So you gotta get the people on your side. Trump's pretty good at that. Danny could learn a thing or two from the man.

Two things occur to me: shakespeare's ceasar - being Cassius (manipulating everyone into doing what one wants them to) isnt necessarily better than being brutus (deluded but principled) or Anthony (aware of the manipulation and delusion and threading an amoral way through). Life's not a popularity contest as uncle hamish used to say. And, on balance, Danny's tone is relatively respectful (compared to the primitive insults I've for example had in the last few pages of the thread).

Many of the sort Trump gets on his side I fear would not be who Danidl would want by his side.

The same goes for me, I'd rather keep the atlantic in between us.

My days of seeking to influence other peoples behaviour are now over. Now I have the luxury of telling the truth without fear or favour. I suspect that Mr Trump has a certain level of charm. I have dealt with charming people .. It is not necessarily an admirable trait. Hitler apparently was a charming man!
So no I will pass...

This doesn’t sound good:

In Detroit, Michigan, police were called on Wednesday afternoon to guard the doors to a vote-counting facility after requests were made to monitor the process. Officials were seen covering up the windows to the TCF Center, where postal ballots were being tabulated.

I’ve never liked the idea of postal voting. Unless a person is a registered invalid / cripple, there is no excuse for not attending a polling station. A presidential election is a big decision and if you can’t be bothered to turn up in person to vote.......

The system has always been like that, nothing has changed in this regard. The same voting system has been used to appoint presidents, both Republican and Democrat, throughout the ages.

Unsurprisingly, you choose today to complain about that same system. Now that is odd! It’s a classic case of it being ok whilst it delivers the outcome You want, but you’re going to get a sour-face on when it doesn’t.:D:p:D:p:D:p:D:p
Once again you are jumping to conclusions on the basis of your built in prejudice.
I wrote this
"once again the candidate with the least votes will win the election"
How do you know that won't be Biden?
But you have to try and spin that into more right wing nonsense, didn't you?
Silly
By the way. Whoever wins they won't do us any favours, will they?

I agree, but find it amusing that OG chooses today to complain about a system which has been in use since long before he was born.

MMMMmmm Nige surely you can do better than that

Wisconsin has not counted more votes than it has registered voters. This tweet is comparing the vote count from 2020 with the number of registered voters from 2018. When we take a look at Wisconsin’s current total of registered voters, we see that there is nothing fraudulent about the state’s count.

Fraud, Fraud and more Fraud,
