I agree that a shot term national lockdown is best, if we do anything.

People don’t deserve financial support, they have helped created the situation. Now is the time to learn that reckless behaviour has harsh consequences. If they are taught that lesson now, in future we will need less lockdown.
the fault is entirely down to the reckless, boastful and dithering team at No 10.
If you look at any country that has control of the virus, they prioritise early action to keep the number down.
It shows that the earlier you act, the less onerous it is to keep the virus under control.

And I suppose Number 10 ordered fat ugly drunken slappers onto the streets to display their fannies at equally drunken little toss-pots? And they ordered pub landlords to say ****-it to customer record keeping?

No, people and politicians and government have created this situation. Now is the time fir them all to suffer. I laugh at Liverpool. A bunch of thick useless *****.

No, they didn’t, he should not have done it. Sunak should claw that money back from the idiots he gave it to, but I suspect it’s too late for that now. Best we can hope for is that he doesn’t throw anymore money away on these wasters.

the whole team at No 10 is just not up to the task.
When Sunak realises that he can't keep borrowing £30-£40 billions a month to fight Covid, he tries to do a U-turn. The root problem is the team at No10 listens to the scientists alright but they don't get the math - rely instead on consultants that they hire at £6,000 a day who would naturally say what they want to hear.

I agree with all of that, but the public are still behaving like spoilt children. They need to hurt very badly, then they will understand that they have a duty to perform. Whilst ever Sunak, Burnham and the like reward people for appalling behaviour, things will just get worse.

you can't just punish those who act against the general good if they don't break any law.
The real culprits are those who incite them to abandon social distancing, like BJ.
As I said, they don't get the math. For every Pound they get from the publican, they spend maybe £50 to repair the damage.
If it were their own money, they wouldn't spaff it up the wall.

It’s not punishment, it’s consequences for actions. I know the message from government was confusing and gave an impression that coronavirus had gone away, but I didn’t pile into the nearest boozer or launch fireworks at my local town hall (Liverpool). These people are *****, they act like ***** so they should be treated like *****.

Burnham needs to shut the **** up and shut down.

They also need to drop the Brexit crap in these areas. They’ve written cheques they can’t honour by voting Brexit. When that kicks in on top of their self inflicted COVID injury, they are going to be totally ******. Might treat myself to one of their repo finance cars in the new year. Every cloud.

BJ does not need to wait for Burnham to pipe down if he's so keen to lock down Manchester and Liverpool.
why is BJ still dithering?
Does he want the public to blame someone else for a change?

Which is why the Welsh approach of generally not being allowed to leave locked down areas makes quite a lot of sense. And people travelling from Essex to Suffolk, or Birmingham to Tenby, to get round the regulations is abrogation of personal responsiblity of the first order.
I travel to other areas to get away from people, all people, and I've done that all my life.

I’ve just remembered that at the peak of the lockdown in March, police broke up over 60 house parties in one evening alone. Guess where? In the northwest. *****. Now they will pay.

Police have broken up a wedding reception where more than 100 guests congregated in breach of coronavirus restrictions

The event at the Tudor Rose in Southall, west London, on Tuesday evening was described as a "flagrant and arrogant violation of the law".

More *****. Make them hurt.

Looks like increasingly like Boris has bluffed his way into a no-deal brexit

Merry Crimbo and a prosperous New Year....

I wonder if Boris and his cronies will be around and anything left in the coffers to organise and pay for the 'Festival of Brexit' planned for 2022

But, and I'm not being partisan, it wont work. Everyone can see boris' dithering is the problem. And that funding a lockdown is a good idea. It's for paying furloughed workers' wages. It has nothing to do with the intoxicated hotties of manchester flashing each other after closing time (as Barry fondly imagine)

I suspect that until BJ agrees on level playing field, there is not much progress.

BJ says he still wants an 'Australian deal' - his way of naming the no deal brexit and that allows him to leave the scene while claiming 'mission accomplished'.
Australia negotiates an FTA with the EU since 2018 without much progress.

Geoff Driver, leader of Lancashire County Council, (Conservative) told the BBC: "It's been a long drawn out process but I think we've got a good deal."

He said the deal involved a support package worth £42m, the area having initially been promised £12m, with £30m to help the businesses affected.

Mr Driver said Lancashire had also been promised more support for local test and trace and a specific ministerial team to deal with the outbreak in the county. So some more £7K a day consultants along with Hancock dressed as Nurse Ratched keeping finger on pulse...

Perhaps the fines should be £10,000 for each and every person?

After all, simply by attending they are in their own way contributing to organising the event and wantonly breaking the law.

This is playing out as I suspected and feared it might. Look at euro sterling rates on Monday for confirmation of the real situation. There will be short term speculative gains to be made.. The EU will stay in contact until the bitter end, and then beyond. They will not walk away. If we have a January of discontent in the UK , with the anticipated levels of shortages, the EU will be patiently waiting for the call in February. If not February then March...

I suspect a special edition of Britain's Got Talent would be far more popular.

(Especially with the "Unlike the government" tag line added.)
