Brexit seems to be the priority of this government such that nothing else matters....we seem not concerned about paying £50 billion upfront to leave the EU but cannot find a few 100 million to look after our social care.

We are messing around at the corners, when something really meaningful needs to be activated.

there is plenty of money about if you know how to tap in to it like the skills funding agency that has a 3.2 billion budget that the welfare to work parasites live off in bed with the dwp that offer no help to anyone bar there prophet it is a fkn racket.

so they sent me in for a 2 week course.

there fee for that is £1000 each in a group of ten and will help you back in to work my fkn ass hole.

The Remainers in the UK are putting as many obstacles in the government's way and once EU negotiations start the EU are going to make life hell for Theresa May.
She has few friends in the EU and I can't see many in her cabinet and who would want the right wing of the Tory party as friends.....she must be under incredible stress,she must so want the PM job.
It reminds me of Tony Blair dumping all the hassle on Gordon Brown,who survived barely a year,Cameron has done similar to May,I wonder how long she will last?

KudosDave, the EU does not hate the UK. Obviously I cannot talk for the reminder of the 500 million, but any discussions I have had would be along the lines of: we are puzzled and bewildered that the UK has or intends to throw away what we perceive to be a worthwhile marriage. Those of us who understand the English language and could follow the debate, if that is what it could be called, are even more puzzled.
Very simply the EU wanted the UK to remain a full member and still does. That is a legitimate aspiration.
As I am not a UK citizen or resident, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on personalities, but I do feel that you have not been well served by either side in the debate.

Good Capitalism? my, my! the very idea!
Theoretically possible, but then so is Good Government, but what isn't conceivable is imagining you are going to get either by voting to leave the EU and your living standards and conditions taking a nose dive in the process.

We could call that "Greedthanasia" and impose a Tax on them to pay for it too, which applies on a rapidly increasing scale as income rises, and delays it's application.

I have a much more Fundamental idea, make Shares carry a corporate responsibility by preventing them being put back on the market till they have been owned for at least five years by the person who purchased them.
That way they would be forced to take an interest in the fate of the company that issued the shares and it would kill speculators.

I loved the photos of May getting the cold shoulder treatment from her "peers" at the EU meeting. I rejoin @Danidl's comments above.

Appreciation of UK residents from the French side:

- The French love the Scots, very long historical ties, "Oh you're Scottish! For a moment I was afraid you might be English..." I have often heard
- The English are considered quaint, eccentric and a little bewildering at times, OK completely bewildering
- the Welsh are admired by the Basques for their rugby and singing
- the Irish tend to be considered as one people not two
- your youth is considered as "lost": rude, vulgar, violent and drunkard - cheap holidays in Benidorm have not improved your image...

What is the Pound truly worth? Will we be forced to hand over our seat at the UN Security Council to the EU? The Express has even run articles explaining what the Single Market is and the 50 billion Euros divorce bill, in a way, starts the process of national reconciliation.

My industry,motorsport,still dominates the world,most of the F1 and WRC teams are here,I suspect post Brexit that will still be the case,no other countries have enough expertise and volumes to replace the UK.
If we have to pay that £50 billion I think it will pretty much finish us financially,we are struggling already(tax take)and we havent started Brexit.

Apathetic resignation might be a better fit, at least on the part of the UK

I really do not see the pro versus anti EU factions here in the UK
reaching an actual reconciliation, more like a cold war stand off,
and racist elements have come out of the woodwork, encouraged by the media and let loose to work mischief that will take years to put down.
