Good show,

and following up is N.I., with a zero

There have been no Covid-19 related deaths reported by Northern Ireland's Department of Health in the past 24 hours.
It is the first day since 18 March - almost 10 weeks ago - that no deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland.
The latest figures from the department state the total number of people who have died remains the same as Monday's total of 514 deaths.
Health Minister Robin Swann said it was "a clear sign of progress".
"We all have been waiting for a day like this," he told Stormont's daily press conference on Monday.
I am really delighted to hear this.

I think Hancock was completely floored with that question, you could see the fear in his eyes he hadn't got a clue how to answer it, I almost felt sorry for him.
He should not be put in that position. Cummings should have been given his sandwiches wrapped in a road map.

Cummings is probably the architect of the 'herd immunity' strategy which caused additional deaths and delay in provisioning the NHS with much needed equipment.
Any reason to sack him is OK to me.
Far from being sacked, Dominic Cummings should be in the next New Years Honours list.

Single handed he has brought Boris Johnson's popularity rating down from its recent 46% to minus 1% now.

I knew he was good at figures, but that is a spectacular achievement, deserving of a knighthood at least since he may well have saved the country from Boris Johnson.

It's Johnson who should be sacked, since no prime minister has ever had such a low rating and survived or deserved to. Remember, it was Johnson who brought in Cummings, so he has executive responsibility for Cummings actions.

Last I saw it was all OK. except it had problems on Google and Apple phones.

the trial on the Isle of Wight has thrown up problems. For one thing, it appears the app does not work so well with Google- and Apple-operated phones.

To be fair, maybe it meant between Google and Apple phones
But one of the bizarre issues is that Apple phones appear to need sufficient Android phones in their vicinity in order to stay awake (in Bluetooth and app terms) so that they could even possibly work.

There are also vast numbers of Android phones which do not run full Google Android but one of the derivatives which might well not support the app. What about recent Huawei/Honor phones? If the app is distributed by Play Store there could be difficulties for those who don't get Play Store access.

Why didn’t they just go for the App developed by Google & Apple in collaboration with each other? Why did they think that a health service could do a better job of developing phone software than the creators of the most widely used phone software on the plan?

Also the architect of the "Shielding List" that left out people with Diabetes because there are too many of them, even though they are extremely vulnerable.

The Google/Apple app isn't world beating, Britain has to have a world beating system and it looks as if ours will be, but for the wrong reasons.

Cummings is irresponsible and can be dangerous if Johnson takes his advice uncritically.
The country is better off with him gone and I wouldn't want to see him in the HoL.

Something else that didn't exactly inspire confidence. Did anyone notice the last questioner in todays daily briefing, he told Hancock that it was only recently that his local hospital in Cumbria had been given fit tests for their masks.

Hancock completely miss-understood this question and started waffling on about problems with old PPE or something similar. The fit test for a mask involves a trained individual showing the staff how to fit masks used when dealing with Covid patients.

These are special masks that rely on a vacuum seal, a scented spray is then released and the mask wearer is asked if they can smell the spray. If they can then the mask either has not been fitted properly or the persons head shape is unsuitable for wearing the device. A very small percentage of people will not be able to get a seal and so would not be expected to deal with Covid patients. I know all this because my wife had to go through this training as she does deal with Covid patients fairly regularly.

I was surprised that the person in charge of the entire health system did not seem to know this, and the journalist had to ask the question a second time after Hancock had finished his waffle.

Brexit victory for Frost as EU cave on fishing rights in massive win - Barnier floored
BRITISH negotiators could seal their first major victory in the trade talks with the European Union as the bloc prepares to offer concessions on its "maximalist" fisheries demands.

In fact what was offered was to negotiate.. amazing , and the readers comments are the usual "No negotiation! our waters, our fish!"

Once Cummings goes how will Johnson be able to cover up his utter incompetence and ineptitude in the post of PM.
Without Cummings as the brains  of the outfit Boris is goosed and he knows it.

I’ve heard the government’s response to Coronavirus described as the Eric Morecambe approach. When someone tells them that they are doing all the wrong things, they respond by saying that they are doing all the right things, but not necessarily in the correct order. I think you need to be a certain age to remember that.

I listened to the Nigel Farage show tonight on LBC (I know!). He was ridiculing Michael Gove for telling Nick Ferrari earlier today that he too has tested his eyesight by going for a drive in his car! Hysterically, the government is trying to spin this idea of testing your eyes by driving a car to see how you get along, as normal and common practice.

Farage has asked the researchers at LBC to contact the DfT for advice because the message from government seems to be that if you think your eyes are a bit dodgy, jump in the car, start driving and if you don’t collide with anything, your probably ok. This needs clearing up, should we all be doing this?

This Dominic Cummings episode is rapidly turning into Donald Trump Bleach Injections II. I wonder if they will need to make an advert to tell people to go to an optician to test their eyes and under no circumstances use a car to test them?

These are the people charged with the task of leading us through this pandemic.

I'm no fan of Cummings and would shed no tears if he went, but I'd rather him sacked over his work performance than a personal life issue used as an excuse by his enemies.

Politics is a dirty business flecc and he is one of the dirtiest of them all. He produced all kinds of lies during the leave campaign. I read a book about it all a while back and even some of the most stringent brexitier MPs were embarrassed by some of his tactics. If you live by the sword then you can expect to die by it, he hasn't gone yet, but lets face it he was never going to last long in government.
