Driving to work, if someone expected and able to work, has been OK. I'm not arguing he did wrong in doing so.
I didn't say you were. You were speaking of the reliability of cars not used and I answered that by showing his car was regularly used.

The Royal Family are a tourist attraction.
What a joke.

So if Cummings was a tourist attraction he could drive wherever he likes? Even to another country as royalty does during lockdown?

Actually it appears he is a tourist attraction. A man at Barnard Castle, a tourist spot, recognised him and waved, so all's well. He could have driven wherever he liked.

Give it up, I know a witch hunt when I see one.

The Royal Family are a tourist attraction. Cummings was instrumental in designing the lockdown measures which the public were expected to follow. It’s essential that the rule makers follow their own rules and that they do not insult the public by lying to them when they get busted for breaking them. It’s lesson 1 on day 1 of the leadership course. Cummings is now a national joke and is a figure of ridicule. Anything associated to him will now be disregarded by the public, including any future measures to keep them safe. He should act like a grown up, face the fact he’s done wrong and step aside.
At one point yesterday, I momentarily felt sorry for his parents having to witness their son being exposed as a liar and a fraud on national television. Up until that point they may have been proud of his achievements, but then to witness what he does to get there must have been a crushing disappointment for them. He’s an embarrassment.
I am not by nature a forgiving soul, I leave that to others, this man Cummings is as far as i am concerned an enemy of the public, and sacking him the very least he deserves, but alas the fashion for heads on pikes is so last year and passe, but couldn't we stretch a point and Tar and Feather the beggar?

Since I'm feeling generously disposed, maybe restrict that to just his head?

Co. Down, N. Ireland, U.K.
Today is a red letter day.. the first since 22 March when we in Ireland have had ZERO CV19 deaths reported!. And yes our processes do identify virtually all cases, ..Acute hospitals, care homes and home deaths ,in a very timely manner. The culture is to have a funeral within 3 to 4 days of a death, so getting the documents together is rapid. Official Registration of a Death is usually within 24 hours.
Good show,

and following up is N.I., with a zero

There have been no Covid-19 related deaths reported by Northern Ireland's Department of Health in the past 24 hours.
It is the first day since 18 March - almost 10 weeks ago - that no deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland.
The latest figures from the department state the total number of people who have died remains the same as Monday's total of 514 deaths.
Health Minister Robin Swann said it was "a clear sign of progress".
"We all have been waiting for a day like this," he told Stormont's daily press conference on Monday.

If Cummings was not directly involved in the lockdown policy or government, what he did would not matter as much.

It’s the fact that he has undermined and weakened the system intended to keep the public safe which matters. He has to go in order to send out the message, this is serious.

Kier Starmar is keeping fairly quiet about DC, do you all think this is a deliberate strategy. If he comes out and tears into Cummings then the Tory party will rally around him. If however he keeps out of it for a while at least, then there is a chance more and more Tories will demand DC resigns.

It was just on the BBC News that an ex Tory Attorney General has just called for DC to resign. There are a growing number of Tories coming out against DC.

Incidentally does anyone know whats happened to the App being tested on the Isle of Wight? At one time that was being touted as the answer to all our troubles.

Not certain which way he is going, but I am not in any doubt Starmer is playing the way he is after having given thought and discussed approaches.

See Guardian story.

Mid-May was the plan...!

You made me think of this:

If living were a thing that money could buy
You know the rich would live
And the poor would die
All my trials Lord, soon be over

When they are imaginary.
.
Cummings is probably the architect of the 'herd immunity' strategy which caused additional deaths and delay in provisioning the NHS with much needed equipment.
Any reason to sack him is OK to me.

The App, which just a few days ago was going to be the key to unlock lockdown is a crock of shite and it isn’t working properly. They are now going to tell you that the track & tracers will do the job manually. So, if you were on a bus, and you tell the track and tracers that you sat next to a man wearing a trilby hat and Gannrx coat, they will be able to identify and contact him from those two pieces of information! Brill isn’t it.

At least the Apple IOS exposure API is now available. Wonder when any of us will see the Android API?

Surely the wrong department?

Martin from Brighton asks whether the government will review all penalty fines imposed on families travelling for childcare purposes during lockdown.
It’s a very good question, Hancock says.
They understand the impact and need for adequate childcare, one of the significant concerns they’ve had during this time, he says.
He says he will discuss with Treasury colleagues and write to Martin with a full answer and commits to making an announcement on this topic.

Surely Justice and Home Office along with Health?

Last I saw it was all OK. except it had problems on Google and Apple phones.

the trial on the Isle of Wight has thrown up problems. For one thing, it appears the app does not work so well with Google- and Apple-operated phones.

To be fair, maybe it meant between Google and Apple phones

I think Hancock was completely floored with that question, you could see the fear in his eyes he hadn't got a clue how to answer it, I almost felt sorry for him.
