The important sentence in the above is:

This confuses patients, who often assume that everyone is a nurse.

That is the intention. They want the hospital to look well staffed with nurses, but not spend any money. It’s an illusion. They did it with the police, PCSOs uniform being very similar to a police officer’s.
When I worked in the NHS, for a while and a long time ago, the system seemed very clear: SRN - blue stripes, SEN - green stripes, acilliary, cleaners, etc., something else, often white or pink. More senior nurses were usually solid blue.

Trouble was, even then, not all hospitals (or areas or regions) had the same system. There were still some that had "fancy" headgear and other local divergences.

When Johnson starts trying to distance himself from the incompetence of his own government, as he surely will, cabinet ministers will find out just how loyal & honest he is. They could save themselves some time by asking his wives.

Will our joy never cease?

Boris Johnson steps up his workload with focus now on preventing 'second wave' of coronavirus

The Prime Minister is receiving daily updates from his team as he re-establishes his grip on the coronavirus crisis

Project Fear is ramping up as they threaten he might return as early as next week!

And I take great exception to the word re-establishes...

As in calling Hancock's 100,000 tests arbitrary?

They have a dilemma. If Hancock is to go (seems definite - just when), how can they maintain that they had the right, the best possible team in place so far? On the other hand, if he can demonstrate his incompetence so forcefully, he has to go.

Will he be made to have an illness?

He would have had a better one if he had done what Boris did and used the disease to do a disappearing act to avoid the blame

Yes as an in-patient / visiting it can take awhile to work out the different roles esp between HCAs and qualified nurses as uniforms can be a quite similar light blue - Matrons (degree qualified) are usually discernible by dark blue - And a for a lot of tasks staff acting up - with unqualified assistants doing the jobs of what nurses were doing only a few years before, likewise for nurses doing tasks that was the province of docs. Docs on some wards hard to find but if spottable are noticible by a stethescope around their necks and junior docs by bulge in their pocket of small discreet medical reference books.

He did, but unlike Boris hadn't the wit to take the opportunity to become the invisible man, his best plan it to stage a relapse, after all it worked for Boris

Here we are the Crowning achievement of many years of Tory rule

Breaking:
@ONS
announces 18,516 deaths of ALL causes in week ending Apr 10. Biggest total in that week in modern history. And biggest of any week since 2000. These are the most comprehensive measures of UK mortality and, for this time of year, they are off the scale

Front page of the Telegraph

Exclusive: Millions of pieces of PPE are being shipped from Britain to Europe despite NHS shortages
Last week five million surgical masks and more than a million respirators were packed on to EU-registered lorries by one UK wholesaler

?
This is true. Millions of pieces of PPE are being sent from the U.K. to other areas within the EU. Why is this? The suppliers have been screaming at the government to try and supply them with the kit. Their efforts to help have been ignored and met with silence, so they are selling it abroad, because they can’t get it into the NHS.

This is in The Telegraph, which couldn’t be more Tory. So if they are reporting this, there must be something in it.

This incompetence is becoming more dangerous every day. Handcock & Co really do need removing from office.

Surgical masks are no good at all for the staff treating Covid-19 patients. They only lightly protect the patient from medical workers such as operating theatre staff. I don't think we have a shortage of them anyway.

And respirators may be an irrelevance too, since it's the complex ventilators we desperately need for the most seriously ill patients.

I know this government are incompetent, but there is a limit to even that, so I very much doubt these being exported were needed here.

respirators
I think they mean respirators as in facemasks - a commonly used term in industry even if the full term is longer and more precise:

An FFP mask (Filtering Facepiece Particles, also called respiratory protection mask) is a type of protective mask certified by the European Union that serves to protect against particulates such as dust particles and various viruses in the air. The EN 149 standard defines three classes of filter efficiency for these masks, namely FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3.[1] It is an example of a mechanical filter respirator.

Although some of the consignments contained cloth surgical masks, the N95 type, which WHO have stated offer protection against Coronavirus, were sold.
