My Irish side came through Newcastle-upon-Tyne.A tempting offer, but methinks we will pass. Seriously there is an assumption that because we speak the same language, that the Irish are little englanders . Its not at all true. If there is any affinity with UK people it might be closer to Northumbria than elsewhere..
Trouble is OG banning private schools will simply put loads of extra burden on state. Its fine having good ideals and in an ideal society with good funding for state education we would not need a private system. We dont live in an ideal society. We cant and certainly wont put the cash needed into state to pick up kids not allowed in private. Will be another rounding down. There's nothing like an unbiassed opinion
That wasn't, spoken straight from the wallet by gad!
No Child should be disadvantaged education wise because of it's parents circumstances, I would like to see the end of money being used to subvert the right to universal education in this way, and abolition of private schools.
As to that last paragraph, you have just described the situation that will result from a Conservative Government, they are the ones in favour of selling off the NHS and using immigration for their own ends

Private education is not something which can only be accessed by the rich. I personally know of three ordinary working families who send a child to private school. One is a policeman (PC rank), the mother works shifts in a supermarket checkout. The others hold down similar income jobs. There's nothing like an unbiassed opinion

For many, it’s not a privilege, it’s a huge sacrifice. The Eaton’s and Harrows, yes they tend to be from very privileged backgrounds, but many of the smaller private schools rely heavily on dedicated parents. They would be far better saying for every paid pupil in private they must accept a none paying one. Open up the privilige to all.
Are you a governer at one 50??For many, it’s not a privilege, it’s a huge sacrifice. The Eaton’s and Harrows, yes they tend to be from very privileged backgrounds, but many of the smaller private schools rely heavily on dedicated parents.
The smaller private schools are on a winner straight away. The parents have usually made huge sacrifices to get their kids their so they are interested, they want to offer support and help, they are keen on good behaviour, respect and discipline. Open that school up as a freebie and it will be abused. You’ll have gum chewing resurfaced face woman turning up in the leased Evoke, backing up her misbehaving children and being abusive to staff. It takes one child from a scum family and it can drag the whole institution down, especially if their is no easy mechanism to dispose of them.
I think these small independent schools are brilliant, the fee filters out those parents who are genuinely interested in their children, and being genuinely interested is 75% of what is needed to bring up a good child.
No, I have no dealings at all with the private education system. Are you a governer at one 50??
Agreed BTW.
mmm... I know where you are coming from but private isnt answer. No, I have no dealings at all with the private education system.
I like modestly priced education because it filters out those who truly appreciate the value of learning. Give it out free and it gets abused and we end up with our current broken, completely useless state system which is failing many children and setting them up for a life of failure.
I think it must have reversed into something harder than it was!
How do you abuse education? answer make it paid for , Boris and co are perfect examples, as is the petrified pencil. No, I have no dealings at all with the private education system.

Regarding youor last paragraphmmm... I know where you are coming from but private isnt answer.
State should have power to remove those not following basic rules and funding to help those that do.
I had a lot to do with education in a secure unit for young offenders. (I ran it for a few years) Their fees were dearer than Etons, every penny waisted.
I havent got any answers. Society is ill, educational stupor is merely a symptom. Glad I, m well away from it all.
Relying on a private privilged system for those that can afford it will just create bigger divisions. There are good schools, there are some failing ones too.
????
Banning or promoting private will solve nothing. It only represents a small %age but the issue is perhaps those in power tend to have had priviliged private education, which wrankles our communists.???

And that of course is what has long crippled the state education system. The private sector selfishly creams off the top end, leaving the lower end that drags down the rest the strongest influence in the state schools, as you've illustrated.I think these small independent schools are brilliant, the fee filters out those parents who are genuinely interested in their children, and being genuinely interested is 75% of what is needed to bring up a good child.

Take your children out of school during term time in order to snatch a cheap holiday. How do you abuse education?
Take your children out of school during term time in order to snatch a cheap holiday.
By not supporting teachers when your child is disruptive or disrespectful at school. Siding with the child instead.
Parents threatening teachers with violence for giving constructive criticism about their child.
Not ensuring children do homework or that they at home at a reasonable time during a school week.
