Or the Eu will come up with a rule that if the Squirrels are in the trees the Brexit deadline can be extended by 3 months without being asked.
Possibly there was once a time when they'd try to keep us in, but I think the mood has changed and they've lost patience with us. There's only so much one can put up with from awkward neighbours.

They know we'll come crawling back in due course.

By now we must be regarded by the EU as a Scrapyard Dog that is chewing at the fence
It will damage the fence and get out
And come whining back when it's hungry

I don't think that is correct. The Tory minority government will still be in place and a deputy PM can continue with it. A PM is not a government. In any event there will not be a GE before November 1st, so we won't crash out of the EU.

All academic really, Johnson won't let go the reins, knowing if he does he'll never be given a second go.
.
Notwithstanding all the musical chairs, I would not assume that crash out is a non runner. As of today ,it is still the only legal option.

Based on zero evidence!. Which part of rule based do you not understand. The situation is that the UK must request the EU Council for an extension, if it comes to that. The EU Needs 100% support from 27 different countries, for them to agree. Mrs Merkel and Mr Trusk was a major influence in getting the last extension . Mrs Merkel star is setting, Mr Trusk is retiring, and the new lady Ursula ,while sympathetic, may not be able to control a new council so early... So don't assume that it is a simple matter.

Especially if Boris is rude when he asks!
(Perhaps he could get that nice Mr Cummings to do it for him?)

Say what you like. The EU will not want us to leave by default. Rules are changed/bent when it suits.

I did think this. If Boris puts a letter in asking for an extension but ad's that nothing has or will change 're the backstop.
Edit.....but if Boris quits the dance starts again .

Ironing upon ironing I am doing the Newsnight piece about this and much more.

It will explain everything and more that you have asked. Including if Johnson resigns and who has to write the letter to the EU for the extension (corbyn)

How queer we were discussing this and I get this piece.

We are using old cowboy films....because....Newsnight....

I expect the Queen as head of state would have to write the letter herself.
However, she may designate someone else to do that job.
It may be JRM.

No it's Corbyn. But if he refuses she can ask a Tory or even a libdem...or even an SNP..

It wouldn't be her. Ever.

Edit.

The way Corbyn gets to write the letter is if johnson resigns or he 'wins' the no confidence in himself and subsequently recommends Corbyn as PM to the queen but if he refuses then what happens is what I wrote above.

It's all in my piece tonight

This morning I half-heard a piece about a celebration of Nigels. Seems it has slumped in popularity. Did I hear none since 2015 - or something like that.

Now, it couldn't have anything to do with no-one being so cruel as to associate their new babe with the private-company-that-likes-to-pretend-it-is-a-party. Could it?
