How dare you sir! The Goon show was formed of highly intelligent and cultivated people! Please compare your government to something less noble.
By Gad Sir! I stand corrected, have this Photograph of a Shilling in Compensation, and there's more where that came from.
Perhaps the Keystone Cops wold be more appropriate.

Hi,

I don't usually pick people up for typos but this one has appeared at least 3 times in your posts. It should be "devolved" not "dissolved".

The idea that I live in a dissolved country is somewhat disconcerting. ;)

How dare you Sir, we of the Scottish persuasion are not "devolved" it only looks that way because we "de-invented" trousers and wear the Kilt!

28 countries with different cultures and histories melding together as one and comparable to the set up of the United States of America, I agree, therein lies the shear folly.
That would be the 'folly' we didn't criticise in 1941 when they came to the rescue of this country and those on mainland Europe under German oppression?

Curiously, the two main reasons why the German Nazi party failed to dominate the whole world in the 1940s was because of the ultimate power and resources of two giant confederations, the USA and Russia, both of which even then consisted of many smaller states.

Russia, of course, went on to become even bigger by colonising other countries to become the USSR before settling for a smaller but easier managed empire......just like Britain did.

Sheer folly? Are you absolutely certain about that?

From memory, wasn't the 'invention' of tartan trews a direct result of the English conquerors imposing a ban on the wearing of the kilt?

When I say, 'from memory', that is not to suggest I was actually present at the time.....perhaps I should have said, 'from my memory of school history'.;)

Aye! at the time of the suppression of the clans, mine (The Bell's) included, mind you in our case it was probably a good thing for all concerned ;)

More rubbish.
The Poles did not fight for Britain, they fought for Poland.
Lots of them also joined the Wermacht.
Did you have an extra bowl of stupid this morning?

There are several memorials around this country to the Polish airmen who flew against the Luftwaffe at the time of the Battle of Britain. I suggest you attend one of the ceremonies held each year and put your opinion across to those who remember and celebrate the skill and bravery of those who fought alongside the British, American, and Commonwealth airmen.

A good starting point would be the Polish War Memorial at South Ruislip, very close to RAF Northolt and the former RAF Uxbridge where you may still be able to visit the underground bunker, now a museum, and learn a little about the very people you malign.

You could also visit the Anzac cemetery not far away at Harefield where you could check out the headstones of many very young men who travelled halfway around the world to fight in the war to end all wars between 1914 and 1919.

My point to you is that Britain did not win WW1 or WW2 singlehandedly; we needed the help of people from other nations who volunteered to travel a long way to ensure the freedoms of European nations were not lost forever under German domination.

OldTom,
For once, I totally agree with you.
It was Allied air forces and the Poles were part of them.
I was only quoting my Uncle who was there in the RAF at the time. Most of the Europeans that had escaped the German advance and that flew in the RAF were fighting the Germans, but not specifically for Britain. They were fighting for their own countries.

I will have another go at 'devolved',I think I have corrected all.

A bit late to qualify the import of your earlier post, don't you think?
While they were here they were not fighting for Poland, it was already irremediably lost, and they could simply have settled down in exile, but no, they decided to fight with us against Germany.
The post literally stated
"More rubbish.
The Poles did not fight for Britain, they fought for Poland.
Lots of them also joined the Wermacht."

It was hardly complimentary to the Poles, now was it? where does the word "Rubbish" fit in with the new spin you have put on it?

If our three 'Brexiteers' ever sit down around a table with EU representatives, I wonder how good their translation equipment is!

That one word may only be the tip of the iceberg and it is not uncommon for meanings to be 'lost in translation'!

Good old Express some say, where the sun always shines on Brexit and the Rain always falls on the EU
"
Brussels 'orders Britain to pay £700MILLION to crumbling superstate' in leaked memo"

The problem with that headline is that lower down the truth emerges, it's because of the fall in the value of the Pound caused by the Brexit unfolding disaster.
Never mind, the truth and Brexit voters parted company long ago, and now their anger at the EU has been ramped up another notch.
You have to wonder if the Express is actually trying to encourage civil war in this country and who is paying them to bait the public like this.
From a logical point of view it is hard to escape the conclusion that a political war for absolute control is being waged against the population of this nation, in a way that is almost impossible to counter by conventional means.
Otherwise why do so many politicians and many papers of the rabid tight wing press promote this madness? what is in it for them?
There certainly isn't anything in it for us.

they can always use Google for instance as in the report on May's recent speech to the EU parliament.
According to Google
"PFFT means "Expression of dismissal" So now you know - PFFT means"Expression of dismissal" - don't thank us. YW! What does PFFT mean? PFFT is an acronym, abbreviation or slang word that is explained above where the PFFT definition is given."

Sorted! as a Brexit supporter might say, near enough to pff! Guv!

So how do you explain Germany oh wise one, with 32 different little states

United States with 7 separate colonies, French, English, Dutch, Spanish.
In China
China is a multi-nationalities nation. Besides Han, which takes up over 90% of China's population, there are 55 ethnic groups

Russian Federation
Russia is a multi-national state with over 185 ethnic groups designated as nationalities; the ..... associations and 560 national cultural autonomies
According to you they are guilty of "Sheer Folly"
Your argument really doesn't work does it?
Sorry but you're not making sense, the sheer folly is missing out on the opportunity to join.
According to you the Human Race is incapable of change for the better, no wonder you favour Brexit.
I see you have expanded your argument by introducing other countries and offer Russia and China as shining examples, Germany is of course a bait which I will ignore but you have not countered my comment regarding the USA's lack of history therefore not comparable.

To create a true autonomy it should be solely based on equality for all regardless of all other considerations and this European group of countries are too diverse to achieve that.

You also feel the need to try and inflame the argument by referring to me as "oh wise one" I am afraid it has the opposite effect as it is an inhumane act.

Also feel free to continue to spell check my submissions.

More pointless argument based on opinion. How about some facts or keeping your mouth shut until there is something positive to add.
Not aimed at any specific poster or side, just the inane rambling.
