I know some here will walk on by because it says the G-word below

Boris Johnson kept from media in ‘ruthlessly organised’ campaign
Tory MPs ‘gobsmacked’ by lengths leadership frontrunner’s team going to in bid for support
Boris Johnson’s campaign to be Britain’s next prime minister is being ruthlessly organised, with his media appearances restricted to avoid the potential for gaffes and an orchestrated effort to lovebomb wavering MPs, according to his colleagues.

Conservative MPs say they are “gobsmacked” and “blown away” by the lengths the Johnson camp has been going to to win their support in recent weeks.

It makes you wonder who in fact is running the show, it can't be Boris, he hasn't got the brains for that, the words "ruthlessly organised" hardly describe anything Boris does, and as the article indicates the puppeteer operating him clearly must have a firm grip somewhere sensitive on his anatomy
So it boils to which Paymaster?

What a fantasy we live in where selection of a man for the number 1 job in the country relies on keeping his mouth boarded up so that he can't shoot himself down in flames?

Agreed.

If he couldn't muster the discipline when occupying one of the very top seats of government, he is not suitable to be PM.

I'd suggest Lynton Crosby - but who is pulling his strings/greasing his palm?

No you didn't. You posted the one word "Why?", adding that it seemed barbaric

You later introduced valid medical reasons, I made no mention of that in my original post or reply.

Anaesthesia wasn't required, that's just your incorrect assumption. Many hernias of the type I had are repaired using keyhole surgery without full anaesthesia. My surgeon preferred open surgery, and so did I.

If my surgeon had thought my request irresponsible he would have said so, and he wouldn't have sent the anaesthetist home before my operation.

So either you are wrong or both the surgeon and anaesthetist are irresponsible.
.
Or perhaps you could have said not having anaesthetic was perfectly normal for your op. It sounded more like a surgeon performing on Nelson's flagship with you biting on a piece of rope with you having had no more than a cup of grog.
Your medical reasons were... It wasnt necessary. End of.
The only reason I asked was a couple of friends have had same op as you and one of them also a cardio ablation. He didnt have anesthetic for ablation but did for yours. He has told me not to have anesthetic, says it was fine, hence was wondering about your MEDICAL reasons behind your decision. I, m having anesthetic unless surgeon gives medical reasons against...I dont really want to watch a 2 ft pipe inserted into my groin. Not great tv IMO.. But thanks for help.
Putting this in perspective, I was the one on gas and air whilst our kids were born..

Hang on a minute I though Boris had been put on a lead and muzzle

Who let the dog out?

Just read the article, this bit is hilarious
"Johnson vowed to run the country as he ran London when he was mayor with a “team of stars” in his cabinet and Downing Street enacting policies for “the least well off”.

Just a thought, does anyone know which group of Society he refers to as "ours"?

He has been saying for a couple of days only way to keep Corbyn out is to keep back the £39billion...not sure how that logic works but logic was one of first casualties of this episode, so nowt new there. BJ or Corbyn. Good god, what are we coming to. Bring back May.

Steady there! I wouldn't go that far, it reminds me of the Les Dawson Joke

"I sent the Mother in Law's photo to the Lonely Hearts Society
But they sent it back saying they weren't that lonely!"

Never any kids for me, but I've helped many an animal into the world with my farm connections etc, so similar territory.

I've never been squeamish, maybe some connection with my entymological interests from an early age, handling all manner of what most think creepy crawlies. Link

It's not normal for the open surgery I had which is usually with full anaesthetic. I was at the tail end of several done by the surgeon, hence me with my request being last so he could send the Anaesthetist home.

Without is only for the keyhole version, but I see that as hair splitting since the procedures are the same.

It sounded more like a surgeon performing on Nelson's flagship with you biting on a piece of rope with you having had no more than a cup of grog.
My write up isn't a bit like that, I posted that I enjoyed the experience. I think it was probably your own reaction that prompted you to feel that way.

I'd definitely do it again if a similar op crops up.

weren't Johnson and Gove moving in the same social circle when they were journalists back in the 90s?
Both broke the law on drugs.

His cronies he appointed when London Mayor turned out to include three criminals who had to be almost instantly got rid of. Showed the company he keeps. So much for his Teams of Stars.

This link shows what he cost London. Gives some idea of what he could cost this country.

I don't want prima donna stars - I want solid, hard-working, intelligent, humane, ethical human beings. Whichever party is in government. What about the rest of you?

(Definitely don't expect to get what I want.)
Well that hasn't happened ever has it?

I don't want hypocrite, lying politicians to lead us.
If I had to choose between BJ, Gove and McVey, I'd rather choose McVey.
