The ERG is helped by the right wing press to push for WTO.
What's the point of negotiating if no deal is what people voted for?
The truth is, if people knew we are going to leave on WTO, the result would have been very different.
if those who voted leave knew what WTO meant. or wanted to make an informed decision. perhaps the brexitters on this thread are not representative. but they are obviously more interested in a political coup, whatever the economic cost or consequences. and infatuated with the boris' and reese mogg's of our present political reality. with all the "values" they represent. including their deliberate distortions of the truth. This is why i believe we need an unplanned WTO brexit that is as damaging as possible. on the one hand the tories will, for the next hundred years or so, be associated with it. which please me greatly politically. on the other, i cannot think of any other meaningful way to counter, for example, gray's all too familiar refrain of "we've won, get on with it". clearly, having a debate about what we've won or what it means is not on the cards. so the consequences would have to do that for us.

Not so, the Leave campaign constantly said a good deal would be easy to get. Boris Johnson in particular argued that regularly.
.
Flecc we both know that both camps were economical with the truth, saying whatever they thought would win people over. There was no mention of any deal in the leaflet that was delivered, but there was a promise to give the decision to the people and to deliver on that decision

why fascists. Think that's rubbish. Very easy to label people with opposing views
let's have your view on how you want brexit to be then we compare your view against the ERG's.

that we leave the EU as agreed by the referendum. The EU have made it as difficult as they could to stop us leaving in the hopes that we would change our minds. They have been aided in this by negotiators from the UK who do not want to leave and who are trying to make it look as if they are striving to get a deal while really keeping us under the control of the EU. The ERG are standing in the way of that, because they can see what is happening

how is your view about the WTO brexit and the NI backstop? No import duty after brexit?
they are the three things that the ERG insist on before voting with the rest of their party?

Nobody can stop you believing this. We can indicate where there are untruths, we can suggest where there are short comings, but nothing more.
1. The EU have not flustrated the UK . It identified at the earliest possible stage all the obstacles of changing 40 years of integration and provided a list of the mechanisms.
2. The UK may well have sent over a poor set of negotiators or perhaps brilliant negotiators with no clear mandate..it matters little, because unless the confusion had been lifted by the UK side, the results would be identical.
If as is increasingly likely the UK crashes out,all fault ,all blame, all criticisms lie in London.

The UK ran a £14.9bn budget surplus in January, the largest since records began.

We're a little over a month away from a clean WTO Brexit & the economy is going from strength to strength: record employment, wages rising,

Project Fear busted again!
What`s not to like??
the Treasury is run by a remainer, the BOE also by a remainer.
Who do you think would have run it better among the ERG?

Dominic Cummings just released his latest blog message.... this was part of it:

"Few scientists and even fewer in the tech world are aware of the EU’s legal framework for regulating technology and the implications of the recent Charter of Fundamental Rights (the EU’s Charter, NOT the ECHR) which gives the Commission/ECJ the power to regulate any advanced technology, accelerate the EU’s irrelevance, and incentivise investors to invest outside the EU.

In many areas, the EU regulates to help the worst sort of giant corporate looters defending their position against entrepreneurs.

Post-Brexit Britain will be outside this jurisdiction and able to make faster and better decisions about regulating technology like genomics, AI and robotics.

Prediction: just as Insiders now talk of how we ‘dodged a bullet’ in staying out of the euro, within ~10 years Insiders will talk about being outside the Charter/ECJ and the EU’s regulation of data/AI in similar terms (assuming Brexit happens and UK politicians even try to do something other than copy the EU’s rules)."

There really is no comparison. We already had Remain, and had for 44 years, so that made any remain distortions ineffectual. But the Leave campaigners wilfully and knowingly lied about every aspect of leaving, from the promises that we'd have no trouble getting a good deal to the £350 millions a week claim and the promise to have more control of immigration. Nothing they've promised has come true or can come true, exactly as we predicted in here long ago.

And the Leave leaflet was meaningless, we all know what happens to leaflets through the door. It was the Leave campaigners and debates on TV that people were taking notice of and openly discussing.

From the outset, leaving the EU with anything like more favourable circumstances than we enjoyed in it was never going to happen. That truth is now plain for all to see.

Good isn't it Tommie, the benefits of being in the EU.

We'll see that happens when we leave, if ever we do really leave properly that is.

so that£ 9 million spent on the leaflets (not available to leave) was just a waste of money

yes, it was wasted.
I binned it as soon as I saw it.
Nothing in it was new information.
David Cameron was a eurosceptic - he only campaigned for remain because it was less bad.

it is now up to whatever government we have to make sure that is not the case. I'm sure many businesses paying protection money to criminal organisations must have the same doubts

one thing that was in it was a promise to accept whatever the result was and deliver it. He obviously did not expect the result he got
