we may have fresh GE soon anyway.

However, in reply to that question, this is what Soubry says:

“I haven’t changed. My values haven’t changed. The thing that has changed is the Conservative Party.”

She would say that wouldn't she.

Regardless of her own view she should have a peoples by election. She was elected because of the tory machine. The fact is she knows she would be utterly trounced if she did have a peoples by election. So she just waits it out. Self serving pigs the lot of them.

I'm listening to her now. She isn't very good.

she is, however, right. we've all become captives of the ERG. I'm not a conservative, and never have been, but even i can see the vast amount of daylight between traditional conservative like john major and a fuhrer in the making like reese mogg

the 54,000 are those who participated in the vote. The total number of elligible to vote is much higher.
Soubry is MP to the population, 94,971 people.
About 80,000 are elligible to vote. In the same way that Dominic Cummings motivated the previously non voting voters, Soubry may motivate a similar percentage because she took a stand against the extremists in her party.
The key word is “may” so it is by no means certain and therefore can not be relied upon when justifying a situation.

I said Soubry may win at the next GE. It's not a justification of her action.

Let's just wait and see if more MPs join their group. Apparently Greening and Grieve are about to leave.

Well no. The whole point of these people is they want a 'peoples' vote.

They should run a 'peoples' by election. Their hypocrisy reeks and most people can get more than a whiff of this.

Labour and conservative spent money on their campaigns. Party members surrendered their time to knock on doors for them. They had a contract with the very voters who voted for them. It's called a manifesto.

If these people truly were honourable then the only option is another vote.

Or is it one rule for them and another for the rest of us?

Sounds like what an MP would say.
You are absolutely correct. They need to do this by the book and head off any opportunity for criticism or accusations of hypocrisy if they are to pull this off. At the moment, they are sitting ducks to be blasted with both of those charges.

I hope so.

I'm not having a go at you, I just don't want them to screw this up by not making certain that they are credible.

Hi Fingers Surprisingly, I am agreeing with you,and that is the basis of the perversion... Faceless unelected party kingmakers sitting in smoked filled rooms, and select the candidate who then goes out. This makes the candidate a vassal of these backroom boys ,and not the peoples representative. Having safe single seat constituencies makes this backroom dictatorship even more feasible.

there are two sides to that coin. how often are remainers told "shut up, we've won"? when it is abundantly obvious the argument has not been won.

why are they extremists. Surely they are the ones who are trying to deliver what was voted for and it is the people like Soubry, who agreed to the vote taking place and said they would implement it, and then have tried relentlessly to try and overturn it. They are the extremists. I am still of the belief that after the result, if the MP's had stood behind the result we would not be having the problems we are

The ERG has at least one member who might not be available later in the year.

MP Christopher Davies charged for alleged false expenses claims
CPS says it received evidence relating to allegation Conservative MP falsified two invoices

“Following a review of the evidence, the CPS has today charged Mr Davies with two offences of making a false instrument and one offence of providing false or misleading information for allowance claims. He will appear at Westminster magistrates’ court on 22 March.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Davies are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

I am a member of ERG Group in Parliament and I am sure you may have read about other members submitting letters of no confidence in the Prime Minister. I have not done so as of yet.

The ERG is helped by the right wing press to push for WTO.
What's the point of negotiating if no deal is what people voted for?
The truth is, if people knew we are going to leave on WTO, the result would have been very different.

how do you know that. the question was 'do you want to stay or leave'. no mention made of deals one way or the other
