in addition to extra duty, a few weeks and a lot of food miles.
even if you find some food cheaper (actually, I challenge James to find an example of which food will be cheaper), they are not fresher or nicer.
Definitely a wrong strategy.
More nonsense!

Take a look at food at Tescos anytime today: Kenya, Argentina, NZ, Peru etc - and that's just in the fresh produce section.

There's no 'strategy' about it - take away the tariffs and let us buy from wherever we want. Its called free trade. This country is built on it.

but you cannot isolate only one factor, in this case, import duty on food commodities.
Like biologic systems, there are plenty of feedback mechanisms in economic modelling, positive feedback and negative feedback. If and when some tariff is reduced, import of the relevant products may go up, causing changes in land use, regulation, subsidies, movement of labour and more. If you equate economy with an in vitro experiment, you get to fantasy land. That's what people like Tim W do. They fancy themselves as scientists but lack of credibility because they are naive.
So you'll just keep bailing the farmers out while the consumer suffers.

Whatever.

I have the complete collection of all the TV episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus ripped onto my hard drive!
That should upset the Germans.

Add all the episodes of 'Allo, 'Allo and you'll upset the Germans, French and Italians all in one go!

To upset the Spanish you'll also need Fawlty Towers episodes.

Check your facts, James.

No Deal adds tariff, food will be more expensive, not less.

Even Kenyan green beans and coffee will cost more under WTO.

No... The power of England was built on restricted trade. When it had created by its military capitive markets, it then created monopolies.

How condescending of you! Such a nice young person, never a foul work, no trolling, no insults, oh look a halo has appeared above your user name!

You are so up yourself it must be awfully dark...

I bare you no animosity.

I apologise if I have caused you offence.

I felt that you were acting out of character and was being slightly prickly to a post or two I made.

I am happy to apologise and I would like it if you took this post as genuinely as I mean it.

I have always found you to be a good poster.

We'll see. My understanding is a lot of basic food and clothes will be cheaper. US poison-impregnated chicken will be cheaper for one. Sparkling white wines for another. Anywhere the EU imposes tariffs it will be cheaper. We do not HAVE to impose WTA tariffs - we can have them set at zero if we want (WTA sets the max we can go to).

This country was built on piracy, not diplomacy , where did you get that sanitised fake truth from? free trade at the point of a gun ai't free trade is it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bilateral_free-trade_agreements
We buy almost everything through EU trade deals which are world wide,
and you and the "Make America Great again" Adam Smith institute want to sell us into being an American posession to use as a dumping ground for sub standard products.

No thanks

The corn laws. Tariffs are not the way to go. Supporting failing businesses is not the way to go.

I get tired of hearing this fake accusation from posters who should have more sense but clearly don't
they are testing you with 'anti-EU opinion forming' material.
Apparently, you resisted.

Yes, much better now thank you. I can finally relax and watch England thrash Ireland.

OK. Food prices will come down.

One quick example I found:

Oranges - the EU tariff is 16% tariff. When we buy outside the EU we can get them 16% cheaper.

We don't HAVE to put tariffs on stuff coming in. THAT is free trade.

You remainers have very thin skin. And you are genuinely hurting.

We should have more consideration

I apologise for any offence you may have taken from posts.

I will try and be more sensitive in the future. I hope you can do the same as well.

Kind regards.

Now who would be silly enough to post something like this?
"You remainers have very thin skin. And you are genuinely hurting."
The country is in a crisis situation and that is the best you can do?

Now you are being silly , and where did you find this notion of offering a Fake apology?
do you think that is going to work?
By the way there is no way your inane posts can hurt or offend me, as they do have an almost 100% irrelevance rating .

Try to be more sensible and even occasionally on topic and well informed, and do give over trying to be ingeuous, it takes brains to pull that off.
Don't you get tired of being made to look foolish, and have nothing worth bringing to the debate but this nonsense?
