It is difficult to argue with someone's who's parameters for right and wrong is narrowly defined by self interest and exploitation. I find that morbid and frankly boring. I have Polish friends who mean a great deal more to me than a sub contract.

Are you a socialist aggers?

Answer the question please. What is wrong with asking 4 people, or companies, to tender for a defined piece of work and accepting the most competitive quotation? What is exploitative about that?

I have not applied any pressure, I am simply asking them to tell me how much they would like to charge me for doing the work.

Your sentimental comments about Polish friends is just that a cheap and attempted sentimental distraction. I have friends and relatives all over the EU and wider world. It’s not relavent to what we are discussing here.

I think he’s one of those Champagne Socialists like Tony Blair. Those who tell everyone else to give their money away, so that they can keep theirs and despises anyone who is remotely wealthy or successful. That’s the socialism of a rampantly sick mind. True socialism has a lot of positives.

It is relevant, but you are blinded by self interest so you cant see it. You're Polish subcontractors are employees, human beings like you with lives and families. You do seem to live in a very concrete unimaginative reality in which right and wrong has become exclusively a product of utilitarian decisions about what serves your interests. I am sorry your life has worked its way into such a narrow cul de sac. I'm afraid there isn't anything I can do for you. You ask the wrong questions. But you wouldn't be able to realize that. perhaps a hard Brexit and the loss of opportunities to exploit tax payers and immigrants will help. Sometimes hardship can be good, it can take us out of defensive comfort zones.

Yes. Because they are your FRIENDS.

Whereas in 50Hertz's case - they are working for him on a contract.

DOH.

You really are a dick. The worst kind of Troll. A Troll who accuses others of being a Troll but who acts like a total knob.

Knob head. It's the only thing I can think to say to this. You are a complete knob head.

As well as being a knob - he's a troll. He won't answer this question because he has nothing constructive to offer the conversation.

In my in-box this morning:

Yesterday Politics Professor Matthew Goodwin tweeted the results of a recent YouGov poll which asked people whether they would mind if a close relative were to marry a strong Leaver or Remainer, which produced a startling result: only 9% of Leavers would mind if a close relative married a strong Remainer; but no fewer than 37% of Remainers would mind if a close relative married a strong Leaver.

So next time you hear someone railing about the supposed intolerance and prejudice unleashed by the Brexit debate, you might like to remind them of just how tolerant nearly four in ten Remain backers have been found to be.

You are retreating into sentiment again in order to avoid confronting an issue which you originally raised. You are making accusations of my exploitation of Polish workers and I would like to discuss that further.

Let me attach some numbers to a situation.

If I want 9 x front door of a certain type supplying and fitting, and I invite 4 x people who advertise their services to tell me how much they would like to receive in return for doing that, what is wrong up to this point? ( All are registered and legitimate traders)

I then look at the quotations and choose the most competitive. I then approach that person/ company and invite them to do the work. They are always pleased to get the job and take it on. What is wrong up to this point?

What alternatives do I have?

1) The disused vandalised pub where the house are built to remain disused.

2) should I have gone back to the contractors and asked them to charge me more?

3) Should I keep my money where it is much safer, in a bank who in turn would invest it in a portfolio which would included........ drum roll.....PROPERTIES.

You make absolutely no sense at all. You criticise, you snipe and you make nasty comments. Whenever I try to drill down into where you are coming from, what you would like as an alternative, all I get back is “I’ve got a Polish friend” Great, I’m pleased for you, some of the Polish people who work for me are lovely people and we get on very well and I hope that they think of me as a friend, because that’s how I view them. However, that is not relevant to finding out why my business activity is exploitative, which is what you accuse me of.

I think that like most Champagne Socialists you are insanely jealous of anyone who has worked hard and put a bit by. You can’t stand it and you will do anything to put it down, with lying, false allegations and sentimental distractions being accepted tools of your trade.

You also know a hard Brexit will cause some people to lose their jobs and you also know that will be catastrophic for them and their families. To wish that on people as some sort of know it all, I told you so, revenge makes you a disgrace and a disgusting individual.
To an extent it does, but if , and it has been happening for over 2 years, that there has been a constant barrage if .."we win, you lost get over it ",It would try the patience of a saint, let alone a mere esteemed pedelecer . Particularly when that is the extent of the rational argument presented.

Even I ,who by my own admission,is both a saint and a sufferer of fools, have been tempted, by many of the crass comments, to think the same,

A fair point, but at least you have had the strength of character not to resort to actively wishing job loss and hardship onto people. I can't reconcile that sort of mentality.

In regard to the divide regarding socialists and others i am reminded of a story a work colleague, now deceased, would quote.
It involves two friends attending a meeting, possibly at Hyde Park corner where a Socialist was preaching
"Let he who has two Farms give up one and give it to the deserving poor.. "
One of the friends cheers enthusiastically.the other claps .
"Let he who has two houses give up one and give it to the deserving poor.. "
The same friend cheers enthusiastically.the other claps politely .

"Let he who has two Coats give up one and give it to the deserving poor.. "
The same friend stops, frowns .the other claps politely as in the previous cases and then queries his friend.
"Yes ,but I have two coats. "

Of course. Why would Remainers want to dilute the intelligence of their bloodline?

Leavers don't have the intelligence to understand this concept.

I thought it was the leavers who didn’t want foreigners in to dilute the bloodline?

The national bloodline.

Careful where you are going with this. Leavers have furiously argued that their vote wasn't about race.

Two occasions does not constitute many, and when you ACTUALLY read what I wrote it was highly qualified.
My desire to say I told you so, is so tempered by the obvious reality that the damage which will be done to the British economy ,and by extension to the Irish economy that it is a pyrrhic victory.
