Response from dealer about the popping noise. As the seller they are taking interest, but dont know what to do about it! They have been told the warranty lies with a company called Magura, and are still awaiting a response from them.. I have a bad feeling about this.....

Generally in the UK the responsibility for the warranty is actually with the dealer.

Appreciate you've said you are some distance from a proper electric bike shop however you've illustrated why it's better to buy from an electric bike shop whenever you can rather than a bike shop that sells electric bikes. Martin knew exactly what to do, had all the proper tools etc. & fixed mine in about ten minutes with no hassle & at no charge.

Hopefully my dealer will become a proper electric bike shop, or, even more hopefully one will open nearby..

It is not too difficult to fix Magura should be able to provide instructions as well as grease (the dealer does get paid by them for doing the work). The noise does no damage but it is annoying. Good luck!

just to help with a little bit of info. This is true, and whilst your warranty is with the dealer you bought the bike from - the dealer isn't forced to do the work, unless of course they want to. Most high end components, ie suspension etc have a technical support centres in the UK that does the work for dealers.

Some dealers are happy to strip a pair of forks and service them, some will pull apart a rear shock and service that. Some realise their time is better spent, so any part goes to the experts to be serviced / inspected & repaired under warranty.

The same is true for Bosch. Just as any competent home mechanic can fix this problem, any dealer should be able to do it. But just as you might not be happy doing it yourselves, the dealer might also like to have the experts, and those who are actually paid to do so... look at it.

hope that helps.

Hi Col
Yes it does help! The dealer has a good reputation and they want to bring e-biking into the area, so all this is pretty new to them. I consider myself to be an above average "home mechanic" and would happily undertake repairs like this, but there is no e-bike support network in this area. The other problem I had as the noise only pops up every 200 miles or so, and then only for a few miles. I am confident that dealer will sort it, Patience isn't my strongest virtue....
