Bosch bearings

let's assume Bosch realized the problem in the old bearings and decided to improve the design by fitting a better, stronger version in the new motor.
I am curious to know what members think is right.

1) the old motor should be replaced FOC
2) the old motor should be replaced but you pay half price
3) the old bearings should be replaced FOC
4) the old bearings should be replaced but you pay a small charge
Trex... even Bosch themselves would have done this for free.

Had the bike not been used with a tuning device, however it was, so now Artsu just has to pay for the bearing himself.
 
At this point I feel it is worth going back through the thread, some may have got the impression KTM are giving good service in this matter. However despite all that has been offered, I still have a broken bike with no help getting my bike repaired.

So Col can I ask do you still feel proud of KTM given that you have failed to honour any of the offers you've made?
Which offer haven't I honored that is appropriate now we know its just a simple replacement bearing that is needed.

The offers I made, have all not been needed because its possible to simply replace the bearing. Had a new drive been needed then my offers would have been relevant.

So I understand you're looking for 2 cartridge bearings. What are the bearing numbers and we'll try to help find some, but I believe we have already emailed all our normal suppliers and we're waiting to hear back from them.

If we ever need bearings we just used to walk into Stalybridge to the local bearing shop and order them, we'd usually have them within 24 hours.

I have asked yourselves (Tom) to help me to source a bearing, which he has offered to do for me. His offer to help is starting to feel like all the hollow offers you've made.

He told me you don't buy spares from Bosch, this despite you saying you had ordered spares from Bosch

So I left the meeting having placed a large order for spares to ensure we can support UK customers and we'll deal with the warranties second hand, is the plan.
So understandably I'm confused by what you're telling me. On the one hand you have stock ordered, I presume you have quick access to Bosch parts then?

I replied before you added this in the edit. Tom knows which bearing I require, like you he directed me to a bearing supplier.

I'm sure that if this had happened to someone on the German forum, it would have been sorted out quickly and painlessly for all concerned. Instead, it appears to me to show that in the UK, there's insufficient commitment and infrastructure to provide the necessary support. I'm sure this episode has done some damage to sales of bikes with Bosch motors; however, what are the choices for people that want that sort of bike? Is there anybody providing a better service? As has been pointed out, unless you have an authorised repair centre close to you, any warranty issue is going to result in a lot of hassle.

Freego-Wisper have a guarantee that you won't be off the road for more than a week, which gives a bit of confidence, and I can't remember anybody with Woosh, Ezee, Kudos, Juicy, Oxygen, Cyclotricity, etc being off the road for prolonged periods due to warranty either. Unfortunately, they don't provide such a range of sporting bikes as the Bosch ones.

Indeed, whatever the rights and wrongs of the issue, Bosch and their customers cannot afford to have high profile 10 page threads like this with 186 posts to date. Goodness knows how many site visitors have seen it too, since it's been on the front page for nearly three weeks to date.

Yes, because I suspect they would have gone to a shop and bought a bearing. Or the bike would have been warrantable because it wouldn't have been being used with a tuning device.

Just to be clear. A bearing has worn out, that's all. However, it appears from Artstu's post above that he's not actually phoned a single Bosch dealer in the UK to ask if they have this bearing in stock as a spare part, or can get it from Bosch or any other supplier in the UK.

We are not a Bosch dealer and we do not sell to the public, however I know we are looking for a bearing for Artstu to help him out, bypassing all the normal systems.

Now come on, you knew from the very start that I had said the drive-side bearing had failed on my bike. But you still offered me a new bike based on that information.

Most eBike customers don't read this form. Most shops have actually stopped reading this forum. So I'm trying to help clear up this debate so people can see whats happened.

I would hope most people realise that bearings wear out.... and can see that had this bike not been tuned, it would have been a simple warranty.

Now all Artsu has to do is buy a bearing. It doesn't need to be this complicated!!!!

Because at the start I was told by Bosch that it wasn't replaceable. Since then you and I have both discovered it is a simple part to replace.
Simple isn't a word I'd use at this point. Had I been able to source the bearing in the UK, I'd accept a relatively simple replacement. Hopefully in the future this will be the case.

The problem is where he can buy it from. There's two bearings. One is standard but the other's a special Bosch non-standard one, which you can't buy from a bearing supplier.

This just isn't true. I've seen emails to Artstu from a bearing supplier saying they will sell him one for $0.82

The problem is he's not been able to find a supplier in the UK, but as you'll see from his post above:

What help do you need? According to the email I've now seen you've been given a price and you have all the details? I'm not sure what support you are now looking for?
Given all the offers you've made, I had thought that just sourcing me one bearing would have been the least you could do for me.

A bulk order of bearings from China isn't exactly ideal for me. However if you can't or won't help then I might as well buy 100 of the things. I'd prefer not too of course.

But a dealer might have a broken motor in that they can salvage a bearing from, or they might know of a UK supplier who can get one, because they "might" have come across this before.

Yes because I've been discussing this with Tom at FLI who said he would help. Why would I try the dealers when Tom is supposed to be dealing with me?
