It's sad when these selfish morons have such a profound affect on ordinary people who work and earn their possessions.......

Hope you get you bike back and the cops catch the scum.

I tried last night, loads of different registration possibilities with no luck, maybe its on false plates?

What concerns me the most is.. I am 67, and even when I was young and fit I was never a fighter.. So 4 young men want to steal my bike in front of me in broad daylight in an open and visible area. If I had turned around and caught them at it I would have done whatever it took to stop them..
That thought kept me awake for a while last night..

No, twas an old one that's been in a drawer since last christmas. Just using it as a gps strava tracker on the bike.
Tracker needs to be installed BEFORE it is stolen.. A lesson for all..

few others out there no idea if there any good or not tho. but given the price of the bikes these days should have it built in to the frame.

did you also put all the stuff that was on the bike to the insurers as that cam was expensive and the lights.

Just one thought (and I'm thinking aloud)...

Point your CCTV towards the road. Assuming it was opportunistic, I guess that car may travel along your road regularly, perhaps even around the same time of day. It just might go by again and if you do see it on a regular basis, then you could get the reg or maybe one day you can sit in wait and follow it or something. Don't put yourself in harms way but it might be worth repointing the camera for now. They do say thieves return to the scene of a crime.

Actually, that camera has areally wide angle and i doubt it would show a plate coming down the hill, but I had thought of buying a narrower angled cam to go up there with the other one, just havent been unable to find one on line so will go to maplins at some point

Well maybe for now, check your CCTV and see if that car does go by regularly. If it does then one day you could maybe park down the road and covertly get the reg as it goes by.

I'm not suggesting you go spending money on this, but my CCTV is this one and it records to a hard drive, I keep three months of footage. That one is a tad expensive, there are cheaper alternatives. Maplins is probably a good place to have a look.

This is what I have..

only I got 2 cams for out back and a wide angle dome camera over the garage out front. This covers the drive and the only access to round the back of the house. It doesn't record continously, just when pir activated..
No worries with car registration as cops have it sorted.

Hi

I don't wish to rain on anyones parade but would like to offer a few words to the wise. I am looking to insure my new Wisper and have spent the last week to ten days reading policy booklet after policy booklet from cover to cover so as not to be caught short.

Every one says in big bold print, cycle must be secured to an immovable object using an approved Gold/silver/bronze Secure Lock.

Ok you have the CCTV footage to back you up but if the bike was not secured at the time of theft then they might well try to squirm out of settling.

Its like leaving your car outside your house for a few minutes with the keys in the ignition and some low life chances on it, you could almost say you encouraged the theft.

The reason I am so meticulous in looking for bike insurance is cause years ago I had a similar incident, I set off up the front garden path on a normal bike and the wife suddenly called me back to say she had a letter she wanted posting.

I left the bike leaning against the fence at the top of the garden and walked back down the path to the front door, Leaned inside the porch, picked up the letter, turned around, and low and behold so low life was peddling like fury up the road on my bike.

Insurance didn't wanna know, said I I had encouraged the theft by leaving temptation there

Good luck with finding the low life and getting your life back on track

Regards

Unfortunately, there is no insurance I know where they will cover either an unsecured bike or a bike with the AXA style rear wheel lock. The latter does stop the odd chancer riding your bike away though.

All the best, David

Today I told my sorry tale to a freind and he had heard of that exact method of bike theft before. In broad daylight a quick grab and away on the side of a car. Same area as well so it could be that these jokers are just riding around lookin for the opertunity. It might explain their seemingly well honed and highly polished actions.

My guess is that they were following you from wherever you'd been cyclink, knowing that it wouldn't be long before you parked, and hoping for you to leave the bike unattended for a few seconds. The only complicated thing for then was the fact that it was a cul de sac, so they had to turn the car round.

Did you put the photos on Facebook like I suggested? You will get the name of the guy that lifted your bike if you do. As I said, our bike was found in 20 minutes.
