Not sure which stand you are referring to. The stand that is said to be 7cm at posting #43 is a different one to the one we bought at #44. I have just measured mine and it's 5.3cm.

Halfords being helpful? That's a first!
Glad you are sorted out. Probably better off if it's a tight fit, it will secure the bike better and there will be less chance of dinting the cat:p

Only just seen your question.

If you are still looking, check out these ... Steadyman racks....Ozzie guy who has thought up a great storage system for bikes.

I was going to buy them but managed to sort my problem by jiggling bits about If you pardon the expression lol.

Really cool and well worth a look

Do they sell a two bike model ?

Looking for one for the inside of our caravan - we put the bikes inside when travelling etc

I have seen 2 bike ones on line but I don't know what they are like. The halfords one is tough enough to force the tyre gaps a bit wider for mtb tyres without breaking.
It should be easy to cut it down to 2 with a hack saw.
