Stands such as the one that Lanclass has linked to, which are fine, can be pretty unstable when used in conjunction with a mountain bike. On the versions that I have seen tried, the tyre profile and sizing doesn't work that well. Either the tyres won't fit in properly, or aren't held rigid enough as the stands are neither deep enough, or tall enough.
Just to answer Eddie's point. Hubby's bike is a hybrid mtb with 2" tyres. It fits into the stand with about 1/2" to spare and he has fitted the stand on our garage wall about a foot up from the ground so the bikes are stable in there - just park and leave basically. You'd need to ask any ebayer you were thinking of buying off about the gap size to be sure.

Special offer in halfords £27 or so I think.
Mine has wideish tyres so going to call in with bike and try one. I had thought of bolting to a wall so will be stable and off of the floor.

Eddie, I can't believe you have only just noticed the typo. If you're on notifications the heading must have been in your inbox at least a dozen times with the typo in all it's glory. Hubby asked me what a bile stand was some days ago!

In my defense I use a wireless keyboard and mouse and sit about 10 foot away from my screen (large screen TV) so often miss things like this. Think I need to zoom in a bit more.

Being truthful, I only know that it wouldn't work, as I recently went somewhere and they had them for bike parking. I could just have easily been caught, as I was tempted to fit the same rack in the van.

Just been out and measured my stand, and what you have read might well be correct. The fit could be tight.

My tyre size is 27.5, and the stand clearance is exactly 2"

Not worth risking 2 on an Internet purchase then. Need to find a shop that sell them
