I keep this throttle in the bike toolkit for emergencies, in case one of my legs falls off. Haven't used it on the road, but I like the push forward action. I prefer it to the long travel thumb push down type, which need to be pushed down quite a long way to get full throttle. This also seems likely to be more waterproof. I replaced the hex bolt with knurled thumb bolt, for quick handlebar attachment/detachment. IIRC @jimriley bought one too.

Ok Just ordered one, hope it is same as my grip throttle connections looks same. can you also buy handlebar grips with the end off, as I now need to remove grip throttle, which needs a grip now with no end to slot the zefal mirror in handle bar end

If you don't like the ones with the ends off, you can cut an end off of one with an end, or make a hole. Some are secured by screws at the other end. Or use handlebar tape.

I have just ordered this set as you can just cut end off easy enough, Plus there is lines in grip so I may need to cut off 1 section at lines, so it fits flush to end including thumb throttle

You won't need to cut off much for that push throttle - it occupies less space on the handlebar than the push down thumb version... which is one of the reasons why I bought it, as my handlebar is very crowded and I can't install a longer handlebar, because my folding bike won't fold if I do.

Yeah that’s true didn’t realise that. As the thumb one is narrow so should be all good. Be glad when the zefal mirror arrives then at last can take off this useless right mirror

I've mounted my thumb throttle next to right side grip upside down, so I use my thumb to move it UP to accelerate.

I prefer this and it's safer as if I have a bump tendency is to push down on throttle making it worse, it's more like a dead-mans handle this way.

I thought about doing that with the push down throttle, but worried it'd fill up with rain. It filled with rain anyway.

Yeah maybe its best to keep it upright then.

anyway What a plonker I am as I got my zefal mirror arrive today, I was in the city so collected it from a shop. thought I would fix it to the bike whilst out, But no way would it slot onto handle bar end too big. here is a image of what I measured

IMG_7813.jpg

so as you can see its about 2 1/4in the hole in handlebar end. approx 57.15mm and no way will mirror fit inside that hole

so didnt try to fit it no more, now im back home took a better look at new mirror dam silly me there are narrower fittings with it. will try again tomoz as not got time now LOL it even says universal, defo need my eyes sorting lol

You want as tight a fit as possible. If the only insert which fits, is a very tight fit, use diluted washing up liquid as a lubricant, for both what you're inserting and the hole you're inserting into - it's hard to not make that sound dirty.

Yeah tight as a virgin LOL I will try again, Im still waiting for thumb throttle and handlebar grips, so I may do them all at once, as no point in fitting mirror, until Ive taken off grip throttle and replaced with normal grips and thumb throttle

As I don't really go out on the wet it not been an issue for me.

I just had a quick look and with my throttle I cannot see how it being upside down would allow more rain to get in than it being other way up.

I had this type. I needn't have worried, it was killed by rain anyway. Always splashing about me - this throttle had to be pushed down a long way, so I had it angled up about 40 degrees... which might have hastened it's demise? Whatever, the new push-forward throttle looks better waterproofed, but I don't need it until I need to quickly install it, tool-lessly, if one or both my legs fall off, so I can throttle The GuerneyMobile™®©℠ back to the The Guerney Cave™®©℠.
